Boling isn't in top competing shape ATM imo. The best I think he will do in the SEC is 20.1X and in the 100 10.18-25. I think he will be ready come the NCAA. The US trials are a month after that though so we will see. I think he wants to compete against Bednarek but he has his work cut out against these flyers in the D1.

If he's running step for step with Micah and holding it for 200m, he IS the guy to beat. Absolutely perfect running form. Whoever his coach is, everyone should go there.

sadly, I think Matthew Boling will go down in history as being the best athlete in the world to never make an Olympic team. Honestly, I think long jump is his best bet and he needs to shift 100% of his training to it. The 100m is too stacked with talent to even make the 4x100m team as an alternate and by the time the Olympic trails come in 2024, sub 20s 200m may not even make the final. Think about that for a moment. 19.98s in an Olympic trails not making the final. Equally absurd is that a sub 10s 100m likely will not be selected as one of the 6 members of the 4x100m team (even as an alternate). It is crazy to have the potential to win the Olympics on your best day, but not make the Olympic team if you are having an off day and just have a bad start. Joseph Fahnbulleh is a prime example. He place 5th in the 2020(1) Olympics representing Liberia, when he would not have even made the USA Olympic team. Being sub 10s in the 100m and sub 20s in the 200m, this would be sad. Maybe Matthew Boling needs to do what the Kenyan distance runners do and move somewhere else so that he can make the Olympics. He would be a welcomed addition to our (Canadian) 4x100m relay team and he can long jump for us. I am sure he would make a good fit with Andre De Grasse, Aaron Brown, Jerome Blake, and Brendon Rodney. This team took the silver in the last Olympics and won gold in the last world championships. So, Matthew, if you like coffee, maple syrup and watching hockey, you will be much welcome here. I hope someone reading this passes this along to you so you can give it some serious though and meet the deadline so you can be eligible competing for Canada in 2028 if he does not make the Olympic team in 2024.

@@Jayinhk1972No, I absolutely get the point that the US is stacked with talent. But my question to you is, when has Boling ever dropped a 200m time under 19.9? Fahnbulleh qualifies as a 19.8 runner because he consistently runs 19.8. Boling isn’t close to that feet so that’s why I feel it’s s reach. Even if Boling go run for Canada and make it to the Olympics or World Championships, he still will not get a medal.
@reddragon1572
@reddragon1572 Жыл бұрын
@@rayross8111 Boling was in 19.8 shape last year. Zero wind and he would have been sub 19.9. a fair tailwind and he was close to or at 19.7X. he doesn't appear to be anywhere near that this year though, but none of us know why. He could be looking to peak right at NCAA finals, which obviously all try to do, but it is a difficult thing to get right and push at US trials as he underperformed last year. All we know is there is talent everywhere, which is very good for the finals. I personally don't see Boling going sub 20.1 but I believe he isn't that bothered about the SEC. Winning it is great but if you fail at the NCAA is doesn't really mean much.

@@BlueSoldier87 it doesn't matter if I ran college track or not, Boling won this event last year in 20.01, after winning the indoor title, he also PB'd in the 100 and 200 but his performances started to decline by the time the NCAA came around and also US trials. As he is in his last year, obviously the SEC will mean a lot to him, however the NCAA and US trials is obviously where he has to hit his best form, not April/early May. From his performances so far, he is way off what he has consistently run, so I believe he is holding back. It is either that or he has been injured. A 20.5 for him is way, way off. It is not just Boling, but others are way off too, indicating holding back. You can judge him come NCAA and US trials. I will gladly reply on here that he was not good enough if that happens, but until then it is just speculation from everyone, including myself.

There's quite a few black American bigots here rooting for Ugandans like Tarsis Orogot or other Africans over USA runners but more particularly if they're competing against Matt Boling.Both themselves and no small host have the A.B.I.B.mentality -Any Black runner Instead of Boling.It's really disappointing to see as much unwarranted bigotry,hatred,and jealousy as I've witnessed against someone(Boling) that seems to be a genuinely fine young man with both his teammates and competitors.

I don't know why he doesn't try the decathlon. He has a great long jump, and a very solid 400 m. He isn't the best at anything, but he is great at a lot of things. Given his speed in the 400, I would assume he could at least be competitive in the 1500. He has great upper body strength. In HS, he cleared 6'7" in the high jump. Maybe he has dreams of being the next Usain Bolt, but I just don't see it ever happening.

Just because you won't be the best? Sometimes you have to be YOUR best, and explore what is your full potential. To make use of the gifts that God has given you. You may never be the best, but a true champion has grit, determination, discipline and heart. (Marcel Jacob? - did u think the same bout him? - or shud he give up too as 'he will never break the WR?' )
@sawgames8623

@@niroshangovinder4042 That's a terrible example. Jacobs won a global gold, an Olympic gold at that. He was quite literally the best in the world. He fulfilled his potential as HIS best while BEING THE BEST. Boling can keep running 10.2s and 20.3s all he wants. If he wants to just do his thing and be his best in any given season then good for him. If he wants a shot at being THE BEST, then he needs to focus on the long jump. That is, if he cares about winning medals. If he doesn't, that's on him.
