The 2019 Mercedes AMG C63s Is AMAZING And DISAPPOINTING At The Same Time..

The new regulations are ruining car sounds. Having said that though, the new AMG GT63S still has those amazing pops/crackles as does the E63S/etc... this may (partly) be an issue with the C63's ECU tune, in fact Raz from RemoveBeforeRace said he's in contact with AMG to find out if they'll release an ECU update. In the mean time, you could always go aftermarket and easily restore the pops/crackles.

Dude, the new 2020 regulations are ruining the cars sounds, it’s not AMGs fault. They are putting all sorts of stupid filters in there to dimm the sound down. I can tell you that the pops and bangs are also gone on the 2019 Audi S4 & RS4 . The 2018 versions banged and popped like crazy. First you would need to remove those filters and then you would need a ECU upgrade to get the bangs-pops back.

What you needed to do in this video is take some revving clips from your videos with your 2018 C63s (before you modified it) and put them side by side with this car, so we can all hear the difference you are talking about. I'm with you man, Ford took away the V6 Mustang (I have the 2015 V6) in 2018 and kept the lawnmower sounding 4 cylinder Ecoboost. I can't afford the 5.0 but I am damn sure NOT buying that stupid 4cyl!

As a 2019 C63s owner I too am disappointed in the complete lack of pops/crackles. There seem to be a number of threads over various forums including the AMG Private Lounge but there is no news from Mercedes/AMG engineers. Some people have complained and have been told it's due to new regulations but other car manufacturers have released their rivals and even the new GLC63s has the pops and crackles and that has the new exhaust. People keep saying to go aftermarket for a tune but as soon as you do that you risk voiding your warranty on any engine issues. Hopefully Mercedes-Benz and the AMG engineers can bring out an update to resolve the issue as everything else is fantastic. I just wish the cars sounded more like the press cars as that's the reason why I picked this car over the competition.

Hey man this is so weird I don't know what's up with my c63s model then. I'm literally getting cracks and Pops right at 4000 RPM in Sport Plus. It literally sounds exactly like the Press car from remove before race. When he tested the c63s coupe I have the same one in matte black. Just didn't option the carbon ceramics.

If you go through the dealer and get your vehicle modified through renntech just a simple ECU modification or at the Pops and crackles but for some odd reason I don't know how they designed my particular vehicle I'm getting pops and crackles in sport plus mode literally hitting right at 4000 RPM. I have done no renntech modifications. I think I may wait a couple years before I do that ECU modification from renntech. I picked up the vehicle on the 4th of July with 12 miles on it little bit embarrassed I'm already up to 300 as of today.

Unfortunately, they can't. Just put a Renntech tune on mine and they use the updated ECU changes from MB as the base tune. They say that they want to keep a good relationship with MB/AMG so they won't mess with that part of the fuel mapping......

I fear that the 9 speed is worse for manual shifting. Right now it takes me several seconds to get from the 7th gear to like 2nd or 3rd gear if you want to overtake quickly. The first down shift always is fast, the second down shift after that takes about 2 seconds most of the time.

Talking of Renntech, I was thinking of getting the tune until last week from Los Angeles to Phoenix I saw E63s and we both gunned it down at 85mph to 136mph! I passed him approximately about 130mph and he couldn’t catch up. He stayed behind me for the next 15 miles where he finally made an exit. I was shocked how my GLC43 AMG SUV pulled soo fast at higher speed. I have 47k miles and car is faster than when I bought it new.

Agreed. I have the 2016 C63s with no performance exhaust and I think it sounds just fine. I opted for the carbon fiber interior/exterior trim, AMG white/black stitched bucket seats, and premium luxury package instead. Took a while to find. Plus the previous owner de-badged the back so I get a lot or puzzled looks😏

For various reasons I wound up ordering a 2019 c43 in March and just got it July 1st. It is absolutely gorgeous and an incredible car. The noise issue may be transitory. My e53 lacked crackles and pops on downshifts and lift off around 3500/4000 . But after 2000 miles suddenly its crackling and popping constantly . Before this zero crackles and pops! So maybe something to do with the eco software and is programmed to pass.

Have a 2019 C63s cabriolet fully loaded including ceramic carbon brakes. Love it. Wish it would stay in the last mode selected instead of always defaulting back to comfort. Strangely people pull up next to me all the time on the highway, roll their window down and give me a big thumbs up. Not concerned at all about the lack of crackles… More concerned about the lack of maintenance information on it than the sound. I will forever do my own work on it.

All of your complaints are valid. Personally, I like mine ( I have the sedan version). I wanted a luxury muscle car daily with plenty of utility and the sedan/wagon are as good as it gets. Great and easy to use system once you get used to it, luxurious interior, amazing sound system in a quiet cabin, and that ridiculous v8 sound whenever you want to have some fun. The crackles are still there, just not as easy to achieve.

BUT the lack of any reference to the mandatory OPF filters fitted to all cars from 2019 onward any where in the comments proves what all us BMW drivers say about Merc drivers, and that is they are not real car guys, just people that think they can buy street cred. Interesting... I have the complete opposite take on the C63. To me this sounds much, much better. I was really interested in it, but the '18 sounds like giant V8 huffing through a straw masked by the worst crackling in the history of cars. That was the sole reason I didn't buy one and got another E92 M3. This is good news in 2019 for the C63. Now all they have to do is get a real DCT. It's also good news that Steve Dinan is starting to modify these and fix the rear suspension to make these handle decently.

The C63S still sounds great in my opnion, like every AMG (if you REALLY want more crackles, it's very easy to do that aftermarket). The only thing that I don't like about this car is the fact that it has those beautiful, big exhaust pipes but they are still fake and I don't understand why they are doing this again because like 90% hates that those things are fake. Is it really so difficult to make REAL exhaust tailpipes, AMG?? Besides that, I really love this car (even more in saloon form to be honest), like every '63(S) AMG

Mike..I had a 18 C63 and bought a 19 C63s... I Feel your pain!!! I AM SO PISSED!!!!! They took the best characteristic (pops and crackles) of the car away . I went to the dealership and they said that there was a "service bulletin" and they have to add grease to the dampers. I hope it works...I am so disappointed with the bland sound..WTF MERCEDES?????!!!!!! They screwed with one of the best sounding cars on the road.

Well Idk about everyone else but I saved money and went with a fully loaded 2019 AMG C43 with AMG performance exhaust system and a bunch of other goodies. Including night package exterior light system burmesiter soud system 64 ambient lighting package etc... I have the pops and crackles the Biturbo V6 is def enough power for me lol. I did install recently the BMS tuning dual intakes. I am very happy and satisfied with my purchase. Soon will be tuning with Renn Tech and see what power it puts down. I really love the C43 AMG its a brilliant design and enough performance for me plus for a little over $63k cant go wrong💯🙏🙌

I think the 6.2 C63 also didn’t have crackles. But it’s just 2.2 liter more and no turbo, so it speaks for itself.

I actually like the looks more than the previous and the sound I think has with WLTP, at least in Europe. But that is easily fixed with a Borla Attac exhaust😉

The reduction of sound is similar across most European cars. It's specifically due to emission regulations and the push for climate friendliness. Car manufacturers felt like they had no choice but to significantly increase fuel economy and reduce emission or they wouldn't be able to get their car approved.

It has 200 something miles on it, making it not run in, which means pushing it that much is not such a good thing and the second thing is during the run in period the exhaust isn’t at it’s loudest. Still not like before after running it in but still alright to me.

Hey Mike, I have a 2019 c63 coupe and after the break in period of 1k miles, the car sounds like an animal in sport+. It is a perfect daily that also packs a punch. Love the content! Check me out @k63dari

Yes, after 1,000 miles break in period on both my Akrapovic and Corsa exhausts on my two BMW M3's with V8 engines sound twice as loud.

It's very good that you have pushed brand new car. First it need to brake in. At least 1000km with non reving high and so on.

Totally agree. Had an MY16 sedan and now an MY19 coupe and it is quieter. Had to remove the secondary cats to get a bit more noise out of it.

Just bought a 2020 c63s coupe. Defiently agree that the exhaust is disappointing compared to my 2018 gtc roadster. Such a shame because everything else about the car is a huge step up in my opinion. But the interior upgrades alone make the sound trade off worth it to me.

The funny thing is, even a C220d Pre-facelift had this "crackles" if you drove it in Sport+
