Last Friday, Anupama ranted about Dabangg 3 investing so much of money on a script like that in her D3 review, and today, she brought Karan in the producers table for making films like SOTY2 and Kalank last year. Jokes apart, I have serious concerns about how long we can take FC reviews, analysis, Addas, Commentaries to be unbiased when comes to people like Karan Johar, Deepika, etc. because all of them belong to a common platform MAMI. And how this year MAMI had shaped up, from making Deepika the chairperson to discuss a film like Chennai Express in an Internation Film Festival to Alia and Karana Johar reducing the dice to their typic Koffe Show, phew. And including a just decent enough Deepika in Piku in the Top 25 Performances of the decade over terrific Richa Chaddha in Masaan & GOW, Geetanjali Thapa in Liar's Dice, Kalki Koechlin in Margarita with a Straw, Priyanka in Barfi, etc., further raises my worries

Could any of them not have made it to this panel? Or maybe they are busy and these people are free.. See...bahubhali was one. Trying to ape or going through that path requires you to be rooted. You have to let go off that inhibition and sanitisation. The story needs to be raw. Bahubhali did well but that doesn't mean ppl ll watch films of that sort only. South industry is huge and has quality cinema. See Malyalam industry and the wonderful films they make. It is coz they let go off vanity and show the relatable content.

I watched a clip which was from an indian (probably historical) movie which honestly was really funny. A man and a girl with sword were fighting each other. Dude tried to kill her but she beheaded him by her sword but the headless man still could move and run and killed her and ladies who were standing at her front with his spear! Also danced out of victory while being headless!! I really don't know what kind of a crap I watched but as I heard it was a south Indian movie and when people say south has better movies I get confused!! As it was not the only hilarious moment of a movie I saw!

When a bad movie doesn't do well, people find all sorts of excuses. I remember a reviewer writing about a movie, the heroine's hairstyle spooked the audience. So yes, length is never the issue. A talented person can say the story in a 2 minute advert and easily in a 3 hour long movie. There are bad ads and bad movies. It's the content that decides the quality otherwise Salman's movies would all be masterpieces lol

Seriously, we want to see songs filmed in beautiful locations, like Switzerland, Kashmir, flower fields, deserts, etc. We miss all the song and dance in Bollywood films. Bollywood has lost its magic without it. Please bring it back!! You can always have a dream sequence with the songs...or there is always a way to squeeze in the songs with the narrative. If you have a great storyline and great actors, the songs and dances will be an extra treat to watch and it will enhance the film.

Hello Anupama Maim. U had told that only one hindi film featured in top 5 films of decade. I'm partially agree with it. My point is whether Bahubali was created by South director but as an audience we have seen in Hindi. Now every movie comes with so many languages, it is not to say that any movie is regional or international. Visual is itself a medium. If you deduct the gross amount of earning of Bahubali from hindi audience in hindi language, u can find the proper place of Bahubali. My simple argument is if I watches a movie in hindi, I don't care whether it is dub or whatsoever. Hopeful that u understand my point.

We all know that's never happening because Bollywood is a close gated Industry. Regional Cinema is cut throat. Especially down South. Malayalm is the engine of creativity. However most of their better movies are not even watched by their own people

I would not be that pessimistic... excellence shines through all this noise. Audiences seem to be demanding more and more good content and creators will either have to step up their game or perish. Re: Malayalam cinema, OTT platforms are making these movies accessible to audiences beyond those in the state and most Malayalees I have met are incredibly proud of the cinema that comes from there

@@sadiaraveendran8070 Exactly. I'm thankful because Malayalm has the best content. Their films were so ahead of their times. But their Audience is so limited it never became popular beyond their state. And even with the Advent of OTT, we won't be appreciate their movies in 2019 when some movie was launched in 1990. It's like two generations of wasted Cinema. Perhaps we can start to follow their cinema going forward, but the Elitist nature of Bollywood's power clubs prevented genuine competition. Even now someone like an Ekta Kapoor has a means to reach the OTT Audience, and yet remains blissfully unaware of a movie like Super Deluxe ( 46:15 ) and its director Thayagaraja Kumaraja. Even the Audience is not mature enough in Hindi to appreciate quality Cinema. The ones that do are a vocal Minority online. But Bhai on Eid still rakes in the moolahs. For example someone like Karthik Subbaraj directed a movie like Pizza, that was a raging hit in TN, but no one even bothered to watch it in Bollywood, even after the dubbing. The effects of sub standard regional Cinemas like Bhojpuri and Punjabi also have an add on effect. Even though Mumbai is much closer to the South, it has more avenues for a Punjabi or a Bhojpuri artist than a Southern Artist because of cultural closeness of those cultures and also the support for a Regressive mindset that objectifies the female role. A few exceptions will exist but Hindi and it's allied industries are brain dead.
