Happy Friday guys! Cadillac may have "watered down" the V-Series vehicles for these new generations, but the CT5-V is about $12,000 less expensive than the old CTS V-Sport, is nearly as quick to 60 MPH, and offers far more interior space than it German rivals. We can't wait to drive the real "V" though... bring on the CT5 V Blackwing!

Yea I think keeping the V nomenclature but toning down the vehicle, in both power and price to make it more accessible as a daily driver, did cause some confusion at first....but I like the direction they chose to go as it makes more sense for the average buyer, who isnt looking for 420hp and a starting price of $60k which the old CTS V Sport had...I just hope that, with the annual iterations, they do some neccessary interior upgrades to improve the premium feel and make it a true luxury competitor....however, as you acknowledged in your review, they definitely nailed the driving dynamics

Problem is, GM won't commit any legit advertising budget to their sedans. The ATS and 3rd gen CTS were amazing driver's cars, and I'm happy they still used the alpha platform with this. Caddy went back to the tweener, e.g. 2008-2012 CTS, and it's only legitimate comp in price, specs and size is the all new TLX. Perhaps the Q50, if Nissan would ever actually provide a redesign on it's Infiniti model.

I've never understood why everyone (including this review!) is missing the point. These new V's are the replacement for the V-Sport models (previously the CTS and XTS). I used to own the CTS V-Sport and it was a blast. When Cadillac decided to retire the V-Sport branding, they just expanded the V-brand. There will be replacements for the old Vs soon enough. Mercedes did something similar a while back by doing away with the AMG-Sport branding and just used "AMG" among all models, just using the 63/53 and 43 badging to determine what was a "true" AMG and what was a replacement for the AMG-Sport.
@lawren76154 жыл бұрын

Every reviewer is knocking this for not having 650HP. The reality is what GM has done was a good move. On their old path they wouldn't last another 5 years. Now you can attract younger buyers and hopefully keep them with a lower price point, granted the Ct5 isn't actually cheap once you add all the options. It needs to be rebated to get on the road, and get popular.

I believe the rub is that Cadillac is diluting the V "heritage" probably in effort to cash in on it's performance intentions, even though it's not as good as it once was, average buyer just see's the V badge. The exhaust sounds a lot better on the outside than the fake noise on the inside. Green looks great and I think the wheels give it a more Lexus-like appearance. Luxury meets sporty. Also agreed on the rear side window trim, looks like a Cruze or a Nissan Altima

Test drove one today. I was amazed by the performance. People need to remember even tho it’s not a “true” V...it’s twin turbo. Soon as they start launching tunes, e85 and more it’ll be a MONSTER. Let’s remember the ATSV. Easy to get into the 10s. Also the Grand National. Don’t knock a twin turbo..

That's a beautiful color, absolutely stunning car. I agree with your critique of the C-pillar.

Most GM products, that I've been in if you disengage the traction control. You should be able to rev it out more. Granted everyone that I've tried were fwd based. But GM should keep it with the rwd based models.

Thank you for the GREEN! I agree there is to much silver out there. Sure silver and grey is great but stand out with color!

Great review! Thank you! Is Cadillac a realizable brand? I’m considering getting this car or getting the Acura Type-S I’m waiting for the Type -S to come out and test drive it. What do you think?

I just signed the lease on an evergreen ct5 sport because I could not find this color combo elsewhere. I am buying it 2 states away, and on your recommendation, as I have been following this channel for a little while. Thanks 😊

How are you enjoying your ct5 sport?

I love the rotary knob to control the infotainment screen as I have spine and shoulder problems. Please GM, pay attention to body solidity mainly in the doors and dash areas. I hate to close doors and hear parts resonate. Great product but it ain't a CTS-V replacement as stated.

I think people try to shit too hard on Cadillac. The new CT5 is a nice looking vehicle and I’ve been seeing a lot in California. People are buying Cadillacs. Just let them continue to build their brand again

Those "secret hand shakes" that you gotta do in order to place GMs performance cars into their comp modes is very annoying. But they make cool looking vehicles.

Love the exterior, personally like the size of the CT4 better though. Inside Audi and Mercedes is definitely way better. In my opinion a Cadillac should have a full digital dash in this day and age. I would still go with the competitors before this car but it is a nice car.

Looks fantastic on the road in black, in part because it hides the unfortunate rear roof treatment.

Hey man I can't make up my mind between the ct5v and the tlx type s. Which one drives better? Which one would you get?

In that color, it vaguely reminds me of a Lotus Carlton. I like the styling over its competitors. However, having taken a ride in a (tuned) M340i - I think Cadillac could've been a bit more aggressive in the HP department. The gap between this and the CT5-V Blackwing (when it comes out) is going to be enormous. Still love it though.

So I like the Sport trim for its looks. But I’d prefer the 335hp V6 in the Premium Luxury over the 4Cyl. Which would you choose?
