It is for the frunk latch the one if the frunk is closed on you you press if there is something there like a bag it could touch that while moving and the frunk will open !!!!!!!

This update likely has nothing to do with the drunk lid opening while driving issue. FMVSS 401 states the safety release inside the trunk must work even when the car is off. This is required so that a trapped child can still escape in this situation. The C8 apparently entered a low power sleep mode after a period of time off, under which the emergency interior trunk release no longer functioned, violating FMVSS 401. This software update addresses the issue.

That update was not for the accidental frunk opening issue...it was for the escape button release in the event a kid gets locked in the frunk.

Even with no engine front hood should have final manual latch to open. This prevents auto open. Sounds like a big safety mistake. Thought front hood had safety rules covering operation?

The original "popped" position up a couple inches is the safety latch position. GM Corvette has a incorrect safety latch problem. Could be a spring tension or latch incorrectly designed? OR a software problem of turning off the safety latch while in drive mode....easy fix either way.

The trunk in my c5 won’t open with fob while key is in the ignition and running. The car has to be off key out of ignition and then the fob works.

The frunk drivers door pocket has a very sensitive frunk lid button if you bump it and don’t notice the lid is open and that 14 speaker stereo cranking distracts the driver who drives off and the open lid flys up at about 40 mph or more. I tripped it at Walmart reaching for a face mask but heard the latch and closed the frunk before I drove the car. Just press on the Corvette Badge on the lid before operating the car! It isn’t good proof and be sure it is latched. The down load is about the release inside the frunk so it doesn’t leave one of your kid being locked inside for 15 minutes while the car is in low power mode! There is nothing wrong with the latch it is all operator interaction. People don’t play well with computers and programs!

Why don't they do what every other car does? When I pull the hood release my hood pops up an inch or two, but remains latched until I reach under it and pull a lever. It shouldn't matter what button you push or lever you pull, don't let the hood open until someone stands in front of the car, reaches under the hood, and pull a lever. Isn't this an obvious solution? Why doesn't the Corvette work like everything else?
