I drove the CT4 Blackwing and the M3 competition back to back before making my decision. I have to disagree on a few things. The CT4 felt like a much more composed, and better feeling chassis. The steering feel was better. The chassis dynamic feels better. The traction management systems are better. The manual trans feels WAY better. The BMW manual was atrocious. The Blackwing, let's face it, looks WAY better. The Blackwing felt like an overall more fun to drive car. It reminds me of what M3s are supposed to be. The M3 felt big, bloated, and not nearly as fun. I'll agree the interior may not quite be as nice but with some of the materials but, I prefer the simplicity in the Blackwing. So, that's what I bought. Plus, in order.to get a similarly equiped M3 competition, with the aero and upgraded seats I wanted, I was at like 92k where the Blackwing with every option I wanted cost me 75995. The M3 is a good car, I think the Blackwing is more of an enthusiast car. That's just how I felt. And, I currently have an E46 M3 sitting in my garage. So, not necessarily a bias thing either

@@honeybadger006 it's just my opinion. And that can be taken with a grain of salt. The M3 was a good car too. But the way I wanted the m3 was almost 20k more expensive. And I felt like the Cadillac was more fun to drive and communicated better. It's doesn't have the interior flare but, that's a small sacrifice for 20k. If you can find a way to drive both, I recommend that.

@@honeybadger006 I will also say the engine the M felt more alive. Higher redline. Etc. But the Blackwing is no slouch and a few small mods and tune really open up. I'm in it for the overall driving feel. And I just felt the Blackwing did the drivers car better.

This car is special. It's not what everyone else has. It looks good, it's powerful, and it handles. The engine is going to be fine, as they used a forged crank, rods, Titanium valves, and a heavy duty clutch. A lot of the tech that went into these engines, has found its way into the 2.7L 4 cyl used in the Silverado/Sierra, and the upcoming 2023 Colorado and Canyon. The ct5 v black wing does 0-60 in 3.7 seconds, the ct4 does it in 3.8. This is definitely the better deal if you can get over not having a supercharged v8.
@christosgeorgaklis3 жыл бұрын
the thing is at that point the limiting factor in 0-60 is traction not power. from a roll the ct5 would whoop the ct4 as expected.

M3 performance for $10,000 less? I hope this sells well, it's a bargain compared to the more expensive, less attractive M3. Plus, manual transmission is standard. The question is, how would this compare to the M2, which is probably similarly priced?
@aidenp57683 жыл бұрын
For 10k you get a lot more in the M3, interior is miles better than this, but the design of the new M3 might just turn people away.

I just picked mine up last week! It's fantastic
@strohkirchw3 жыл бұрын
I just picked one of these up. Spent the last two weeks trying to decide between a M3 and this vehicle. If you lease, the M3 is cheaper. It has 6 points higher residual and half the MF which completely negates any price difference between the two cars. I had to have a manual though. After deciding to lease I then spent nearly a week trying to buy a M3. But unfortunately they were either sold, customers orders being listed online, competition models which means auto or they were at dealerships that won't sell to out of state customers(Cali). So when I saw a manual CT4-BW on Autotrader with options I was OK with and no dealer markup I said lets do it. I've already had 2 BMW, currently have a X3M so why not try something different. So finance and BW it is.

I rented one of these. The ride quality of this in comfort/touring is just phenomenal. Rides way better than the BMW M340i I drove. Other than the infotainment screen I think the interior is just as nice as the BMW M340i. As a daily driver that rides smooth around town that is still fun in the canyons I’d take this over the M3 or M340i. Modern sporty BMW’s just ride too stiff IMO.

I completely agree. It's narrowminded of people to say they just want the car for the engine. I definitely want a car that is luxurious and fast when I'm shopping in the $80k+ range. For people who have millions of dollars to spend, sure they may not care as much since they can afford a carbon fiber tub with nothing else in it and no luxury BECAUSE they have the extra money to spend on a $200k Maybach for luxury already. For those of us that only has enough for a $100k car or so, we want performance, luxury, tech, everything because we can't afford 5 different cars for different purposes lol.

I don't think that Doug has the ability to properly evaluate the sporting characteristics of a car. Here his evaluation is at odds with all other reviews I have read and viewed. And look at the roads he uses to make his evaluation - local streets and interstate. Really?
@darwinLee812833 жыл бұрын
Agreed. I'm disappointed in his assessment of the comparison vs the M3. Yes the M3 has a flashy interior. However Exterior looks presence /Sound & Performance goes to the Caddy. Having seen one of these in person I can attest. It bad Ass! And I would buy one. If available! And his Doug Score makes no sense. Same score for styling as M3? The M3 is so fugly. Lower Score on Value? The Caddie is a less expensive car and is faster and performs better!!! How is the M3 have a higher Fun Factor Score? None of these make sense
