+Resting Fish Face As a German i still don't understand why so many Cars apparently are only offered as Automatik in the USA, while they are still made with Manual over here. Newest 2021 M4 is common to get as Manual here in Germany, same true for the other Models, the only German Company who stops offering Manual starting in 2022 for any Model no matter what is Mercedes-Benz. The other still offer them and will for the upcoming Years. This makes me think the USA just doesn't get Manual Versions, here in Germany they're still common in newly produced Cars, whether it's a Volkswagen, BMW, Audi, Porsche etc. In Germany learning to drive with a Manual Stick Shift is still mandatory (you have to learn manual) and at Driving Schools you can choose to learn Automatic, but only as an Addition to learning Manual. So this might be the Reason Manuals are more common and still produced for the German Market Prost & Cheers from the Bavarian Alps

Love the color of blue! Very cool. Better than the 10,000 shades of grey that dominate most cars nowadays. This is a nice design and it's great to see manufacturers giving enthusiast something to get excited about other than yet another heavy SUV variant. Like you said, it may be one more swan song ICE for collectors to snap up before the world goes totally EV. The styling of Caddy's is far more distinctive and appealing than Mercedes and BMWs to my mind and I'll never quite understand why they don't sell more cars, unless it's just a brand image thing. Still, all of these vehicles are so far out of reach for most buyers unless they let depreciation kick in and buy one after it's been on the market for a few years and dropped 40k in value. Makes the GR86/BRZ/Miatas a great buy in comparison.

Gotta love how Doug will ALWAYS sandbag any American car he reviews. He complains about a few buttons and a turn signal stalk on this Caddy, but gives the creaking interior bits on a Mercedes a free-pass. He wasn't knocking the volume and tuning knobs existing, just that they're so close and nearly indistinguishable. He has a point, but I'd rather have those and get used to them that having to go through 50 screens just to change the radio station like the german infotainments.
@Hazdazos
@Hazdazos 3 жыл бұрын
@@electthelambda here is why his comment is so ridiculous: 3 days owning the car, you'll know exactly which one is volume and which one is tuning because it's a real physical knob and you quickly build muscle-memory. 6 years of owning my car with touchscreen controls and I still can't just use muscle-memory to click on things because there is zero tactile feedback with a screen. It's just one of Doug's endless nitpicking of any American vehicle all while giving the unreliable and overpriced Germans a free pass. It's always a backhanded compliment with his reviews. He praises the manual and the insane levels of power, but will pick at meaningless nonsense. Then he'll say OmG ThiS CaDdY cOsTs $100k, but then admit that it's tens of thousands less than cars with less power, much worse handling and shit reliability.

I've placed an order for a Blaze Orange 6MT with Sewell Cadillac. No idea when GM will actually accept the order, or when I might lay my hands on the car, but I'm assuming 6-9 months at this point. Never thought I would be in the market for a $100K new car, but I don't think these things will depreciate very much, and probably bottom out around $75K, before slowing starting to appreciate. If I'm gonna spend that kinda cash for a used one, I might as well spend a bit more for a new one and get it exactly the way I want it. Since Cadillac has said no more gas-powered V cars after 2025, and since literally no other manufacturer makes a supercharged V8 6MT sedan, it's now or never. Amusingly, I bought a low-mile cream-puff '09 red 6MT CTS-V sedan at the end of July, right before the Blackwing reviews came out and I decided I had to have one. The '09 immediately went up for sale, and took about a month and a half before it found a new home. The '09 was quick, but it just felt "big" and unwieldy, especially compared to the B8.5 S4 that I sold to buy the V. I'm hoping that the BW's slightly smaller size will make it feel more like the S4 and less like the '09 V.

Something i should mention based on doug mentioning someone telling him "This is a similar quality to the corvette in taking turns." At the recent Barrett Jackson auction they featured what i believe is the 2023 version of this car on the same closed track as the base 2023 corvette. The driver would often sit there and stay on the ass of the Corvette through the track. This thing has SERIOUS performance.

The most unusual thing about this car has to be the six speed manual transmission. The manual transmission has been on a slow long decline for many years. Also it is becoming more rare to see any new car equipped with a manual transmission, especially a car of the Cadillac name brand.

One of the things about a manual transmission is that it puts the driver in direct and complete control over the transmission. As a result it takes skill and practice to properly shift and operate a manual transmission. Today very few people have this practice and skill. As a result it is possible for a person to rev up the engine in a manual transmission to red line rpm and accidentally shift to a lower gear, causing an engine overspeed and destroying the engine. With all these automatic transmissions and automated transmissions that have a manual mode and steering wheel paddle shifters this can not happen, because the transmission computer control will not allow a downshift that could destroy the engine, also the transmission computer control will not allow an upshift that would drop the engine to too low an rpm.

it literally doesnt matter what the torque is. if you make 1000 ft lbs at 500 rpm you still only make 95hp. case and point, f1 cars make almost no torque but crazy hp at high rpm. if you have high torque you just have to gear it down to use it.
