Infiniti is the literal embodiment of a dead brand walking. Besides the Qx80 they offer nothing compelling that makes them worth it over their Asian peers, let alone the Germans. The throttle of my Qx50 (2018) acts very erratically: initially there's no thrust for ~3mm of pedal depression, then BAM! You get hit with a sudden zolt of power. After that, power is weirdly not progressive for each mm of pedal input, then annoyingly rubber-band-like torque after certain point. I guess this is a CVT thing, but it is not possible to drive this car smoothly like I do with 8spd ZF equipped BMW. Also, at only 37000miles, whenever I let go of the throttle there's a single knock noise that can be heard from both the inside and the outside of the car. Don't buy QX50. The stress of ownership is not worth it. Especially at that price.

The EX35, which was the predecessor to this QX50, had so much personality because of its sports car roots. This was based off of the Nissan FM platform which was the same as the G35 and the 350Z at the time, and it was a fun car from what people have told me. This on the other hand. It’s so outdated on the inside (exterior still looks fantastic for me), the VC turbo 4 cylinder and CVT is just unacceptable for a luxury car, and I think it’s priced too high for what it offers. Infiniti, idk what you guys are doing with this car but please give it a proper redesign.

If you think this is bad, go look at the Lexus NX. The qx50 looks universally better inside and out than the nx and even the rx. The interior is significantly more luxurious than either of the two. You get more room than the nx. You get significantly better performance for the dollar than the NX or RX and that’s because of the controversial CVT. The 8 speed in those two aren’t any better. And the infiniti rides a lot better too. Handling is similar to those two. The nx most certainly doesn’t drive or ride better. Besides who cares about fuel economy? Even with the CVT I’d happily recommend one over the NX or RX since the qx50 is far nicer and easier to live with in comfort and interior space and refinement. The qx50 isn’t woefully uncompetitive. That title easily goes to the Lexus NX
@panzer_TZ4 күн бұрын
I'll actually agree about the interior. I don't like the infotainment, but I can't lie that this interior looks significantly more luxurious than an NX with the dash, materials, colors, stitching, etc. I like Lexus, but their newer interiors are definitely getting quite bland.(The TX probably being one of the blandest luxury interiors on the planet)
