I dont think I'll get a body on frame vehicle again. But there is not a single compelling sedan, coupe, or hatchback on the market atm. Plus I HATED how unnecessarily low they were to the ground. It's such a hassle to avoid all the potholes and inclines and declines of the mountains. A 4Runner is a big bigger and taller than I need, so I'll definitely downsize next time. Every sedan I sit in though has my head right there at the roof and I really dislike it. Coupes and sedans are all style no practicality. I'm waiting for some automaker to maybe make a lifted wagon that's compelling but that doesn't seem like it's ever happening. So SUVs it is.

I'm really not a fan of these interiors. I think Mercedes should be able to come up with something a bit more timeless and classic looking while still having modern features and appointments. Those lines above the glove box especially make it look cheap. All in all I think this interior reminds me of something I might expect to see in some sort of Kia EV. The seats are nice though.

I've already commented it but here I go again: We do appreciate the pace of your videos, and we know that part of what Doug DeMuro car reviewing process is to keep it simple, Doug-oriented video, but it would be really interesting if we could watch the dash, the cabin behavior and the road when you were driving. Perhaps I'm the unsmart one not to realize what's the point of poiting the camera towards you at all, however I think some takes of the dashboard and the road would be worth it, though. Great video, as always.
@strangeclouds7Ай бұрын
@@amazo991-2 I think the reason Doug doesn't care is because there's dozens of other car reviewers that do that. People watch Doug because they like his style and want his opinion on the car. If you want to see the dash and the road you can easily find another review that shows that
@amazo991-2Ай бұрын
@@strangeclouds7 I totally understand this. Point is, we can still hear his opinion and his thoughts on the car, while watching him drive it; one thing does not exclude the other. Just a few takes would make a huge difference. He could try, it's not a big deal.

Where Mercedes got it right is by making the interiors of all of their new cars basically the same as the new Mercedes S class. Unfortunately: in doing so they also kind of made these cars boring as now you can get a vehicle that feels like a much more expensive vehicle, but isn’t and therefore is not necessarily as exciting since you know that everyone has the exact same thing that you do if they’re in a recent vehicle. The GLC for example looks and feels exactly like the Mercedes S class when you get it in certain trims.

I owned a CLK350 last decade. It was attractive, but ultimately just one big compromise. It had sporting pretensions, but ultimately wasn't really that sporty. It had a bit more space than one might have expected for a car like it, but still wasn't very practical. What finally did it in for me were those doors. Long, heavy and a PITA in parking lots.

I hate this current design language with no lines, can't wait until Mercedes finally fire the designer and bring some fresh new blood to their design office! Mercedes used to make the most beautiful cars in history in the mid to late 2000s, and now they all look like soap bars.

@ldmtagАй бұрын
@@bwofficial1776 I don't need to be viewed as someone important, but I want to look back every time I leave my car. I know I have a weird taste, cars like the W212 or X204 aren't typically viewed as beautiful, but no lines at all is just so boring! And MB cars have been looking like that for decades now: W212 was launched in 2008, ended production in like 2014-ish, so it's been at least 10 years, and Mercedes keeps spawning those uninspiring generic looking 1990s anachronysms of car designs. And their EQ series.... not even Doug thinks they're pretty! And Doug likes lots of simple designs like old Aston Martins.
