In the Netherlands, the RWD puts you well under €45K (base: 41K), and you can get a €3K subsidy this year. So effectively you pay €38K, which makes the gap with a LR version even bigger.

I live in Minnesota and I bought an all wheel drive car in 2017 (Subaru Legacy). I'll never go back to 2WD, so there is no comparison.

You do what’s right for you. Not everyone needs AWD which is why is is a RWD and AWD option exists.

Hi Adam. Thank you for your review. For me, opting for the Long Range is not about the extra miles that you can drive or the additional speakers. It's about the 4WD which you need more than anything depending where you live. I tried Polestar 2 RWD and the Model 3 AWD on the wet, it's like day and night in terms of grip. And don't forget the instant torque you get with EVs which can make the car spin quite fast in the wet. Usually for 2k you get AWD, spend another 3k-4k for the extra performance, it's totally worth it. Check the BMW i4 with similar performance and specs. It's totally another price level. Cheers

No worries, most important thing is you’ve brought for you circumstances. The RWD Model 3 traction control is really good considering its RWD. For most people, this will be absolutely fine. But the AWD is ultimately the better choice in the wet.

So I am going to buy the new model 3 in Sweden and i was looking at the range mostly at the beginning. After getting a semi-confirmation from the tesla pre-sale support that the RWD has an LFP battery that is what somewhat made me consider that model. Thinking about it in terms of value I feel like the model 3 AWD is still worth its money for 3 reasons and that is the dual motors, the faster charging and the Soundsystem. The price here in Sweden is not that much more for the AWD since it is a price increase of 100 000 SEK. (convert to your own currency if you want). That is more than the pounds you are referring to in this video but I still feel like you are buying almost another type of car when you look at the HP. Plus I live in Sweden the AWD in wintertime is a godsend as it dramatically reduces spin and all around grip of the road.

Yeah, i mean if the difference is small and you’ll greatly benefit from it then its a no brainer. Most important thing is, you buy for your needs and circumstances. If it matches, then you brought well ⚡️🙌

What do you mean slower in the 2024 model? It should be the same, its displayed on the Tesla model 3 website towards the bottom of the page where the comparison bit is.

I live in the south of France and don't need an awd. However, the longer range, premium sound and powerful acceleration make me very reluctant to order a Long Range. The final arbiter will be the price...

In the showroom in Paris, they told me that there is no difference in the sound system between RWD & Long Range variants in Highland. Are you sure that the 17-speaker system is reserved only for the Long Range variant?

“…which you can fully utilize when you need (the full 100% of battery).” I’ve had my M3 SR+ for 38K miles, 2.5 years. I charge it to 80% nightly, which covers my daily driving and then some. Before a long road trip, I charge it up to 100% and then hit the road. Whether I’m driving the kids to school, or heading over to San Francisco, or down to LA, or up to Portland, OR, or across the US to Kentucky, those “limits” have never been an issue. Not once have I ever thought, “Damn… if only I could charge to 100% EVERY NIGHT, I’d be a happier man!” YMMV. Excellent information and review as always, Adam! You definitely help keep me well informed 😉!

Thanks Ernest 🙌 That reminds me, for any new potential Tesla Owners, the car and the Tesla phone app tells you what to set charge limit at. So whatever car you buy, you can’t go wrong with what’s best for your car 🚗 Super easy to follow. I’m exactly like you, I rarely use 100% but always do when I need it ⚡️ Even at 80%, it is sufficient for daily driving and spontaneous drives.

@@AdamWellinformed The other factor that makes “range anxiety” a silly worry is the excellent Supercharger network. In my trip from California to Kentucky, my charging stops averaged between 20-25 minutes. And only once did I have to wait - and the total wait time was 5 minutes. I’ve waited longer in a line at the grocery store. So even with the smallest and slowest charging battery pack Tesla has, it’s still a very road worthy car. And I saved myself $10,00 USD bypassing the LR when I got my Tesla. Best of luck on the M3 v MY discussion with the wife. 😆
