Nighster 975 Special 2023 is my first bike. I've test drive more than 20 bikes before buying it, and it was love from the first sight. The sound, the acceleration, the fact that it's lightweight Harley, the legacy. And I am enjoying every second riding it now. I like that you can connect your headset to the machine, like customizations, Jekill and Hyde pipe sound, it's torque and features. What I am trying to say - I guess, it really depends on the person.

I haven't liked the Sportster since they switched over to the Rev Max. If I was going to buy a brand new bike today it would probably be the Honda Scrambler 500. I've never really been concerned about the next bike having more power than mine as long as my bike has enough power to get out of its own way. Bikes have gotten too expensive and bloated. I'm ready to go back to my roots and ride something light, simple, and cheap.

Well, when it comes to beginner bikes, I would also pick the Kawasaki from the group. However, Kake's first bike was a 2015 Honda Shadow Aero 750. I don't know the bike specs, but in two years, she rode over 45k miles on it without any issues. (peace of mind).

The nightster isn’t an entry level bike into motorcycling any more than a R6 is the nightster is an entry level bike into Harley ownership which is something completely different. I have no problems with them moving the bike’s production to Thailand but I think there are more problems with the bike than that . I am yet to see one on the road and can’t think of a single reason for buying one apart from the badge on the tank it is the new Street of the range. If I was looking into an entry level cruiser to get into motorcycling I would either buy a second hand 883 sportster or a Royal Enfield 650 super meteor (or failing that a Royal Enfield shotgun or bear) all of which can be purchased for about half the price of the nightster.

I own a Rebel1100, 975 and Low Rider S and they all have their merits. The 975 is really good compared to other motorcycles in its class. The stock Low Rider S also sounds terrible if you are worried about the exhaust.

I have a 2024 Nightster, can confirm, the bike flies. The stock exhaust is gross, but even a quick slip on fixes that. It is light, fast, fun AF. Not to mention, the base Nightster comes with ABS and Traction Control. Most of the base Indians do not have that... So knocking the price alone is debatable. Thanks for your 2 cents mate!
@myronmosley2167
@myronmosley2167 27 күн бұрын
The only thing the base indians don’t come with is traction control. Even the scout 60’s come with abs now. Traction control is that thing people brag about but don’t need or use 99.99% of the time. It’s just another feature companies use to justify their ridiculous pricing practices.

There is another beginner cruiser that gets overlooked tho is the Suzuki C50 Blvd. Roughly 9200 bones, red and grey color choices, 53hp/50f ft.lbs torque lol, 4.1 gallon tank, and she's a bit chunky coming in wet and ready at 610 lbs. i have a 19 sporty, harps back to the AMF era, i get compliments on it all the time, especially by older men who remember the older models. but this new model looks bubbly af. curved lines on that engine. looks......kinda feminine to me. it does have some positives, like a 6th gear and great hp and power. not enough to offset the goofy engine look. i did take a good second look at that rebel 1100 tho. but i wanted a piece of americana history and heritage. so for HD to move it oversees, and if i were in the market right now, id have gone for the rebel 100%. I have a honda shadow from 2001, still starts to this day with everything stock on it -- except for pipes :)

I don’t think power is a big important factor if we’re talking about a true beginner bike. Which is why I agree with the Vulcan S being the best for that market. The Nightster and even the Scout 60 can be a little much for someone not comfortable riding.

From the options you presented, the Kawasaki is probably the best offering to a new rider, followed by the Rebel. If I could expand outside the contemporary offerings to the Nightster, it would be something from Royal Enfield's 650 line. The Shotgun and Super Meteor both have the right styling. They are WAY down on hp (47bhp) but still have enough to maintain highway speeds. If they ever swap the 650 line to water cooled, they will easily be a very real competitor. Especially with HD manufacturing going overseas. Honestly, the price just isn't justified if it isn't US made at that point.

Also some people just want a Harley and aren’t chronically online. To them, they walk into a dealership, find in they think looks cool and buy it. It's funny that guys can look at the bikes with the best performance specs and features and call them the beginner bikes. I heard someone say the other day that you have motorcycle riders. Then you have Harley riders and they're both completely different from each other. It's like things are inverted on the Harley rider side. Where weight is good. Longer wheelbase is better. Quick steering is a negative. The slower bike with the lower seat height, is the one you trade up to. It's upside down world sometimes 😂 in that sense, i don't think the new Sportster is made for Harley riders.

@@BikesBeardsAndBrews true. I came to the conclusion that Harley riders are like truck people lol. The best selling vehicle in America is a truck. They're big, heavy, slow usually. They're more about comfort and practicality, feeling like a big boy etc lol. that is infact what more people want. But, if your part on the minority that cares about dynamics, excitement and performance, trucks do not get it done. For those people, they make sport cars. I think the revmax bikes are the Harley's built for sports car people lol.

@BikesBeardsAndBrews I don't think that they do at all, actually. I think that if HD gave us more power and lighter weight, ect, and more features on our softtails for the money we pay that the majority of us would be very happy with that. But hey if you feel that what the people want it a rehashed paint option and a two thousand dollar price increase 🤷🏼

The crowd that cares that much about it bing made in America, don't buy nightsters anyway. Same as with all the revolution motor bikes historically. They're into nostalgia. That's not who the revmax bikes are for anyway. The revmax platform is for the sport bike crowd. People who care about performance, weight and technology etc. Those people don't care whether it's american made or not. It'd be nice if it was but I'm sure it's not a deal breaker. As every sport oriented bike since forever has been made out of the country. Your talking about two riders that couldn't be more different. I hope the move brings more competitive pricing.

I am not too sure that any of the new “sportsters” appeal to sport bike riders or many other people either. The only rev max engined bike I see on the road regularly is the Pan America which is possibly the best none traditional Harley they have ever produced.
@super16g123
@super16g123 28 күн бұрын
@johnludmon510 I don't think they know about them yet. Harley Davidson didn't do too good of a job marketing them. Now though, some of the popular stunt scene guys have started giving them a go. The aftermarket is starting to take off too. I admit, I've only seen a handful on the road but I think they're about to take off. I mean 100 HP at 450lbs is properly competitive with the current middleweight naked bikes.and unlike the pan am, it resembles a Harley.They say the original sportster didn't catch on right away either but she eventually did.

You'll be surprised, yes Harley is aiming at the younger sport bike crowd with the rev max but at the end of the day they won't win that battle when compared to most metrics so you need that American branding

@@super16g123 They aren’t marketing them very well but I am not too sure as to whom they are aiming the bikes at. HD tried a sports cruiser with the V-rod and that didn’t set the world alight either and this bike for me looks worse than that did . Motorcycles should move the sole not just the body and I can’t say I would look back at the nightster before shutting the garage door despite the numbers it produces.

@@BikesBeardsAndBrewsI hear you. I think that might be the thing throwing everybody off. I think it's being looked at through the cruiser lense. But I don't think it was ever meant to be a cruiser. I think it's meant to compete in the middleweight naked sport, sport standard area of the market. That segment is hot on the metric side right now. With bikes like the mt09, gsx8, z900, rebel 1100 etc, just an American version with American style, ergonomics and silhouette...but a naked sport bike for sure. When compared to that segment of bike, suddenly the fit and finish is top notch and that engine is a torque monster. Like all Harley's should be lol. Yet, I've yet to see it compared to bikes in that field. Other than the rebel.

@@austinleach1180 OK I'll try this but just once. Salesmen used to wear a suit and tie, comb their hair, and polish their shoes to appeal to their consumer base. Do modern salesmen nowadays wear baseball hats on backwards, shave their heads, grow beards . pierce their noses/ears and get tattoos inn order to appeal to their consumer base. In this case the consumer base is "bikers'. Really, it's not rocket science, but it could be the subject of a college thesis if one were so inclined. Capiche?
