The 3.3 PvE Destruction Warlock Guide

This is my second guide in my series of warlock PvE guides. The video describes the basics of the heavy Destruction warlock spec. Enjoy :).
A general macro that will help your DPS is the imp firebolt macro. This ensure your imp will cast as soon as he is able (if you spam your buttons). This macro should be added to at least incinerate but could be added to all destruction spells.

Good people under hit cap, soul link is good for some damage reduction and reduced threat if your tanks are having problems.

These are not the only ways you can distribute your last 5 points but some popular examples.
Some locks may wish to take Shadowfury, this has benefits in certain fights for example Sarufang to stun the adds or Anub'Arak heroic to interrupt shadowstep on the adds.
Apologies for the late delivery life issues had forced me to take a break. Once I get my head round affliction another PvE guide will appear here. I will also consider adding a Power Aura Guide for warlocks although there are other guides out there for general use of POWA.

I've been altering my gear to focus much more on haste I finally have more haste than crit :p. Tbh if you get the spamming of moves right the haste does make a really big difference probably less in this spec than affliction but its still noticeable. Don't forget destruction is really dependant on RNG and so you may get lucky with conflag crits and have pyroclasm most of the fight and get a lot more dps overall.

@Streetstyles2006 @juan112341 Quartz :) you can enable the lag area with the quartz latency option and the main castbar is the quartz player castbar. It also adds a GCD blip to the bottom of your bar that I find useful.

I was trying affliction before I filmed this although people have suggested its still better than +63SP for destruction although I can't provide a reference for that :)

Quick question. Do you know if leaving out corruption provides greater dps? Personally I've always rolled with corruption in my set of spells and usually beat any other destruction guildmate or warlock in general. What are your thoughts?

Take SP tbh :p I was practising Affliction before I filmed this. I think with the proc rate of BM you end up with something equivalent to 60-70 haste constantly and for affliction and good gear that is better than 63SP constantly. But this isn't really the case for destro as haste doesn't scale as well.

What do you think about this: Some people say that it's not smart to cast Conflagrate when your Immolate is about to wear off so you don't waste the haste buff on immolate since you will most likely be clipping into the GCD?

@Hejzwej SF is very useful in quite a few fights now. I take it in my build it's fun to use on trash as well :p. In bosses Sarufang it's invaluable stun adds as soon as they move from spawn point, LK when in Frostmourne use it to stun the add when it's channelling, Dreamwalker adds can be stunned in place this interrupts casts and on Deathwhisper it can help a little :).

Also although I can play affliction I haven't done too many 'field tests' with it. I haven't felt too comfortable making the affliction guide and as my time is limited due to personal reasons ATM I'm not sure if I will be making it atall :-(. If I get more time I'd like to add some advanced tips for destruction and maybe a Power Auras for locks guide :-).

@MrGregorzz when your spirit drops too low (as it will do with most ICC 25 gear) immolate glyph will improve your dps and make your life easier (also increasing dps) now immolate ticks can crit it's even better. Give it a try.

Tbh I do cast it even when immo is about to run out as long as you are aware that the hasted immo may clip and wait a tad longer you should be fine. I wouldn't say its a waste of the haste buff as delaying conflag would be more of a dps loss.

@rigel559 Corruption will only increase your dps if you are moving alot. Conflag should always be cast as soon as possible even if immolate has 0.1secs left as the damage buff it provides outweights the loss of a quick incinerate. Learn your immolate duration during backdraft and try to avoid clipping. I thought what you think now but I can't argue with lots of testing in raids :p.

@Brainiz619Enigma You should generally gem +23 Spell Power in nearly all cases unless the socket bonus is > 4.5SP PER SOCKET. Yellow sockets gem with +12 SP 10 Haste and Blue with +12 SP 10 Spirit. If the socket bonus is anything other than SP just gem pure SP.

@greatillusionist Why would you not put CB after conflag, in case of Pyroclasm? Makes no sense, CB does substantially higher damage than incinerate, therefore pyroclasm would benefit CB more.
