Can you do a version of this but for development economics. Probably should include; Poor Economics. Why Nations fail. The Great Escape. The Bottom Billion. Development as Freedom. The Globalisation Paradox. Straight Talk on Trade. Why Growth Matters. The Journey of Humanity. The price of Inequality. Good Economics for Hard Times. On principals of political economy and taxation. The tyranny of experts. The end of poverty. The Theory of Economic Growth Capitalism and Slavery.

In which order should you read these books?
@adamsaxiom18 сағат бұрын
Just pick one that interests you, the first book I read on that list was The Black Swan.
@jarcadipane28492 күн бұрын
I think that there is an ISSUE with an EDIT somewhere between the first and second minute ..( I think between 1:20 and 1:55 )...
Some of Marx's books should belong to the list; it was the reason for the Cold War. Perhaps the three volumes of Das Kapital.

In 2015 during my college time I was studying mathamatics statistics and was confused what to do and left college for some other reason. Later in 2019 earned BA in economics but my maths is weak beçause my basic and fundamentals are weak. Stuck in low paying job. Totally confused what to do with life. Feels curiously sad 😢 while watching these videos as I can relate to topic.

@factspeaker2543 I was not aware about the job market or scope that my subjects had. Basically didn't had the guidence to where to apply. I just applied for call center jobs and doing the same.

Your list is a joke if you dont put Marx in and leave him out deliberately. Even if you dislike Marx, no one is disputing how influential Marx is in the grand scheme.
@sakarikaristo49762 күн бұрын
Even more strange is that both Principles of Economics by Alfred Marshall and Economics by Paul Samuelson are missing. These are among the most read textbooks in mainstream economics. I have no opinion on Austrians’ or Marx’s ideas , but their books have not been as influential as the two aforementioned.
@wuziwu81482 күн бұрын
Larry Swedrow, William Bernstein, James Rickards are all great authors to name a few. I’m surprised they didn’t make the list considering they are much more modern (and accurate with evidence) than ‘the intelligent investor’. Graham published great books but even he revised his books to keep up with modern economics and discoveries before he died decades ago

Till today thinking fast and slow is still my favorite book. Good list although I find it interesting you went from most influential to least instead of the other way around.
@JoshuaAGomes2 күн бұрын
Agreed while Rogoff and Reinhart are still influential economists including them without mentioning the "growth in times of debt" debacle seems incomplete.
@adamsaxiom2 күн бұрын
Funnily enough, it wasn’t intentional… I had just grouped them by category (check my explanations in the honorable mentions chapter)
