Clear?! I don't think so, she makes mistakes then corrects herself, granted but it's not clear. I was looking for knowledge about the 3rd house. Still looking for it. I believe the host would be a better teacher. Clear mind, proper thought proccessus (as seen with her questions) and clear when she expresses herself. One question if you have the house cusp ruling planet ( landlord) in the same house then how does that impact the reading? My Libra is 3rd house cusp and Venus plus the moon & Neptune all in my 3rd house. Hence, the question. And yes - I am intuitive😉

Lol! That's a busy house! In the grammar of astrology, house rulers are the nouns and verbs, the house is the place of action. So. Landlord 3 = Venus in 3rd house, could result in something like "I habitually find beauty in everyday things" Or "My daily routines create a balance which comforts me." It's kind of like playing madlibs, there's a structure, but also freedom in the structure to find what resonates the most. But, I'd imagine My house is your house is kinda a life philosophy for you, lol

A few years ago I could not understand the houses and aspects and was begging Ms. Amanda Walsh for "Mercy"! LOL, but now I get it! It probably saved my sanity and would like to thank her and her entire crew for their contributions. Also all astrologers on the internet including Astrology Podcast. I do also observe that many planets in a house and sign gives people special abilities like a "Key" to open a door. Ever notice how the end of a key has a combination of different sizes to open a lock. Each size is like a different Planet. Perhaps that's where the idea of a lock and key came from. Thanks again.

My third is Virgo so ruled by Mercury....so it just doubles down in the house and sign where Mercury is placed ? I'm going to just go with that and study other charts for clues.

In traditional astrology, Mercury doesn't have much to do with the 3rd house. The ruler of the third house sets the tone of what happens there. If Mercury is in the third, whatever happens is probably chatty, lol.

I can't relate to whole signs houses yet. My natal Mars, with Placidus or Koch house systems, is Retrograde in the 12th house in Aquarius. As I have Aquarius Rising, with the whole signs house system, Mars ends up in the first house which right now does not make any sense to me!!

That makes perfect sense!I Also started with modern astrology, and I agree, adding additional house systems is certainly a mind twist. But the thing is, there 20+ house systems, and it's still YOU in all of them. But switching to whole sign places a much stronger emphasis on the ruling planets, rather than planets in houses. So in your case, it's not really about the Mars, as much as it is about Saturn and what Saturn is up to... ;-)

Why would people circle around the question of traditional vs modern astrology so much? Just explain what comes from the traditional approach, then explain what the modern adds. Answering like that doesn't help at all. No one is limiting anything, we just want to know how the knowledge come to be historically. People often focus on the "vs" and turns it like a battle between two systems when it's not always the case.

I personally feel if people are getting frustrated and overwhelmed by astrology, maybe its not the right time to try to read your chart? It takes patience and time. When I first started learning astrology I loved it too much to get frustrated by it, but thats just me I guess.

Love that I am watching this as the Moon is in Capricorn transiting my 3H, and I also really loved and appreciated Donna as a teacher. I must say though that I had some very difficult transits in the 3H, especially with all the Cap stuff that was going on in 2020. Actually the time where Mars was in Retrograde in Aries squaring Saturn in Capricorn. (while doing the same opposite in my chart with Mars in Capricorn and Saturn in Aries) was probably the worst and most tough time in my life. Yes there were more then one thing going on, and Mars is also the ruler of my ascendant so it‘s always personal when Mars does stuff but I wouldn‘t underestimate it too much, being forced to switch up your routines due to illness and not being able to leave the house, just barely go to small places like the post office in your neighborhood, was not fun at all!!! (yes there is also so much 6H, but man both of them were such a pain during that time, it really changed how I looked at and viewed the 3H)

So...my third house is Virgo. My Mercury is in my first house (Cancer) but I'm a very late degree Cancer rising and my Mercury is in Leo. How should I technically work with that? Maybe there's a simple answer? Ha. I'm ok working with several energies at once, but is there a clear answer when working with Placidus? I'm not a fan of Whole Sign because it changes the feel of my placements a lot.

Whole sign houses is a simple house system which works well for archetypal questions. But it was designed in a time when astrological measurements were a little less precise. Placidus is a lovely system designed especially for astrological timing predictions, that became popular in modern astrology because that's what table of houses was popular in print. In either case, the sky is still the sky, and you are still you, it's just the perspective that changes. In using whole sign, if Cancer is rising, and Mercury is in Leo, then Mercury is in your second house. So ruler of the 3rd is Mercury in the 2nd could mean something like: It's my habit (lord 3) to study (mercury) what's important to me (2nd house). I'm comfortable (lord 3) with talking about money (2nd house). Again, there are lots of variations on the theme depending on the context of the conversation. If you want to apply the same grammatical rules using Placidus, you would start with Lord 3 is Mercury in the first. So that would change the end of the sentences above to something like "I'd my habit to study myself (1st house) (i.e. to be self analytical); or I'm comfortable talking about my body (or my clothes, or my image). At the end of the day, neither is "wrong" .. the point of astrology is for you to explore yourself from different points of view. Not to find "the answer." ;-)

Hey Abbie! That's true when you are talking about aspects; planets 30 degrees apart don't have much in common, so it's hard to see eye-to-eye. But to have a landlord in the previous house is not a problem. If the ruler of your third house is in the second, depending on the planets involved, it may give you a practical turn of mind, or perhaps that your surroundings are all important to your routines. But really any interpretation is just a guess until it's put into context of the whole chart, and the question under consideration. ;-)

And if Virgo is the landlord of my 3rd , I look for where Mercury is right? And it's in my 8th so I have an 8th house air in my 3rd ? What would that be like? Thanks
