17:48 a heartfelt share from Fraser about his brother losing weight after coming to the Games, and the same for a friend he's known since age 4 who changed his habits after working out with Fraser. And Fraser gives him workouts to do and keeps up with his friend daily?! That's truly wonderful. An answer to "To whom much is given, much will be required." (Luke 12,48) Makes me respect Fraser that much more.

I think the minute penalty felt a bit arbitrary, sorta like... oh it's a sandbag, 1 sandbag = 1 minute... What might have been a good penalty would be to measure the amount of time it took for Mat to get from the sandbag location to the finish line and be docked twice that time. (The amount of time it took to get to the sandbag and back). Regardless, I am happy for the results, I really don't like seeing a competition where someone's running away with the lead, definitely added a bit of tension that made the overall games experience more interesting. What I do think might help in the future (if they implement cuts again) is to set the cuts less aggressively and possibly have 20 - 25 competitors on the field all of saturday instead of leaving it to 10 people for most of the day.
@brysonschlenz32605 жыл бұрын
Brian East good point on the sandbag. I agree that a minute felt too harsh because it was not like he ran the entire 1.5k without the bag, only a couple hundred meters. A 20-40 second penalty would have made much more sense. It parallels how they gave athletes the 10 second penalty on a 25 second sprint just for stepping one foot outside of the line. That would make sense to be revised as well for a smaller addition of time. All in all the games was very fun to watch this year because it was different, I do like the ideas of cuts but maybe cutting down to 40/50 the same way but taking more time to get down to 20 and 10 would make more sense overall.
@kristianfagerstrom70115 жыл бұрын
I disagree. I think that if he'd have a different name, he'd be DQ for not finishing the event properly. I'm glad that I got to see him the rest of the compwetition, but a fair penalty would have been a DQ or a redo by himself, as another athlete had to do. Possibly a 10 min penalty, but that seems lenient compared to the sprint penalties.
@Merco815 жыл бұрын
@@kristianfagerstrom7011 Yeah, the sprint penalties were really rough, especially considering that results came down to fractions of a second... but not sure how they could apply a fair penalty there that doesn't outright turn into a DQ

Nice to UNDESTAND what happens in Matt's mind when he is in Competition mode?!?! It's as much as a MENTAL game as it is a PHYSICAL at the CrossFit Games. Tia is a a good example, I remember my 1st introduction to Tia in the Games Documentary, her mindset on the wrong place & doubting herself which costed her 1st place finishing at the Games!!! This year she is STRONGER than ever to match her physical capability!!! She is also so HUMBLING!!! What if the Iron Man competition after the first event (don’t know but if it’s swimming) the last 25% they got out of the water they just told them to leave even if they are amazing at the bike and running. And then after biking the last 50% had to leave and now only 25% is left even if some of them might suck at running. Are they really the fastest Iron Man ppl?
