5 stars are largely just physically advanced at a young age. Coaches tend to be blind to the red flags when it comes to talent. It becoming apparent that the things that make a great HS player and the things that make a great pro are very different. The kids that had to study and learn skills are better off because they learn how to work towards greatness instead of relying on talent. In the pros everyone is big. Everyone is fast and talented. Now you've made it the whole way without the character and discipline it takes to be a successful professional.

I think the biggest problem is when people assume that success at one level of football or with one team will automatically translate to the same level of success, if not higher, at another level of football or with another team. When you graduate high school and you go on to college, people think that because you are taking the talent and skill that you had in high school football to the college level that nothing else matters when that's no where near the truth. A particular coach sometimes brings the best out of you and when you move on to a different level or team and that coach is no longer around the motivation regresses somewhat. A particular scheme may suit you perfectly, but the world doesn't revolve around one person so when you are inserted into a different scheme that may not allow you to rely only on your best strengths as a player, performance may decline. Mental clarity is easily achieved in particular environments and in particular timeframes in life for each individual. The game of football is 80% to 90% mental. The prime of an individual's physical capabilities occur at a particular timeframe in their life. Injuries play a factor, big and small injuries. I think it's unfair to expect players to be as dominant as they are no matter what team or level they are on. The human element is beauty in sport. Tom Brady threw 30 tds in 29 games at Michigan, very mediocre, which is why he was a 6th round pick. He was much better at the next level. And vice versa.

Every QB is a system QB I seen it my whole life Peyton Manning running a shotgun offense and calling his own plays was great to watch then you put him under center and have him run a West Coast offense he looked like he lost it and couldn't play anymore, all these QBs all these QBs success depends on the system and if there skill set fits it that's why any smart coach should either draft qbs that fit there system or change there system to fit there QB

Nkemdiche was a bust, but biggest waste of talent? Ehhh, I don't know about that. Waste, yes, biggest? Won't go that far. And Ernie Sims was good for a few years, so that's not the biggest waste. As for Vince Young...we can blame Jeff Fischer, who deserves all the blame he can get (not only for being a bad coach, but also for being a dirty coach), but Young had his own hand in that. He didn't want to be responsible until it was way too late. All of this pressure talk is true, but he also didn't go about his business the right way, and he still struggled on the field in reading defenses and memorizing his playbook. I mean, the guy talks about how hard his life was-but there are so many other players that went through (and go through) all of that too. Look at him at USC, you'll see similar stories-but the difference is that in college, Carroll was lenient and lax with his players. Fischer was not. I mean, it's not like Fischer made Vince spend thousands at Cheesecake Factory, did he? Young is talking about his "brand", but come on, my friend. It's football. You have to be mentally tough. I get it, people shouldn't take disrespect, but you want to be the best. You should carry yourself better than them if you're better than them.

Man I hate seeing shit like this, when so many other people including me would give so much to just have a chance in their situation and they just throw it all away. Shits pathetic..

When you try to live up to someone else expectation you will always fall short. Sims played 8 years in the league, that's a good career, when the average is 3.

@Goatbe Bryant - I don't know man. Rookie of the year, Pro Bowler...Considering the number of guys that never do that, I think the guy had a little game.

Being freaks of nature with unbelievable talent dont mean a thing if you domt have work ethic a man who has both and proves it is aaron donald that's a freak 4.6 40 and killed the reps at 285 and produces every season that's a bad man.

As a former pro baseball player and this is just opinion. Many players in a variety of sports fail to understand this is a job and the harder you work at it, the better you will be. I distroyed my shoulder and I was done, finish school before moving on. Nothing is promised for tomorrow.

Graduated with Clowney he was a monnnnnnnnster in high school especially while Gilmore was playing

Vince constantly talking about his brand was the problem. He gave himself this belief that he was already a star before proving anything.
@isaacgomez56844 жыл бұрын
VY was in no way bust. Obviously his college career speaks for himself but even in the NFL he did better than most QBs who go through the league. Really good winning percentage, ROY, and pro bowler. He wasn't great but don't act like he wasn't set up for failure by his shitty coach

Fisher tried his absolute hardest to handicap young. If it wasn't for the owner fisher wouldn't even play him

I mean, in Clowney's case.... In a redraft he's definitely not a top 2 pick, maybe a top 10 or 15 but will definitely not be drafted before Mack or Donald.

Gary is more athletic than Clowney but he doesn’t necessarily know how to play
