rowdyrx i mean it makes sense for Bill bellicheck to get rid of Tom Brady, bill saw that garoppalo would be able to carry on the dynasty. Also you can’t blame the patriots for not being able to give him weapons this year sense gronk retired, AB went through rape accusations and left, and Mohammed Sanu didn’t play well. This was a bad season for the patriots in general.

Tom didn't want to stay. It's just the fact. He wanted to go somewhere for a few years, ring out the cash, and play pass heavy to pad his career stats. Tampa is a decent option, except he may be under pressure all day in a pass heavy offense and may not pad the stats he's looking to pad.

He could afford to? I'm not sure what this even means. He was a 6th round pick and was a cheap starter for NE for years. That is the only time he was thought to be making the correct money relative to his draft position and not success rate. After that, he was still a deal for the team relative to how much success he brought the franchise. He'll be a deal until he retires, he's even a deal for Tampa Bay. It doesn't matter if he could afford it, he could be making much better money and could've also been on much more competitive teams if he bounced around. Just look at the situation in Tampa Bay with them having a very balanced team with great skill position players in every side of the ball.

Thanks for your thoughtful analysis. I think an additional factor to Brady's departure may be that he's looking for an organization that will offer him the opportunity for a post-player years, front office role in shaping the offense and player selection. I don't think that would ever be made available to him in New England. Our loss.

On the flip side I feel like Belichick lost the locker room this past season and his personality torpedoed what could have been ring 7. I don't understand Belichick's stubbornness with Tom. I'll give him credit for being a great coach but he has some blind spots. I always felt he was terrible drafting and getting new receivers. I'm sure fans other than 49er fans probably witnessed that in the 1980s, except for this has been a much longer ride. Hence why we only offered him 14 mill and not a dime more. The Buccaneers literally just threw 30 mill out the window. Tommy's skillset is throwing to swing backs and slot recievers not down feild as shown this last season. Not to mention he in principle agreed to sign with a team that has no protection for him. The truth is this , the patriots have drafted poorly, they mismanaged there cap, the free agents they punted on did not work out, that leaves them with about 25m in dead money on the cap and no offensive weapons , so they can't pay Brady and they can't give him a chance to win. Also Bill has sneaky been building a team to win with a rookie QB for 3 years now, I would not be surprised if they Tank for Trevor.
@louiscypher41864 жыл бұрын
@@fallingalice2601 there are merits to it though, worst case scenario you time manage him and have him mentor the new QB and act a stop gap if the dude doesn't perform. it's well known that Belichick is a ruthless SOB and whilst that's good and fine when your winning. When your losing and you need to sign players there was always faith in guy's like brady turning it around. There's two things that attract top end players, Loyalty and Winning. You think it's a coincidence Harmon, Shelton, Karras, Roberts and Van Noy are all gone? They knew the writing was on the wall, they all knew if Bill would do this to Brady, he'd do it to them. You think it's a coincidence they ended up at teams with former pats players and coaches? If Bill cannot perform without Tom his career, his reputation and his money are gone. Because he's already proven the only thing he's loyal to is his own reflection. There is now a 50/50 chance Belichick will retire before Brady does.

I'm a New England fan, one of the main reasons Brady was basically shown the exit is because Belichick doesn't want a 42 year old QB leading our offense in a nutshell. As for Tom Brady, I'm so grateful the endless success Tom brought to this franchise and I wish him nothing but success and happiness and it bothered me and still does the manner in which everyone let it go down as. Tom restructured his contract numerous times to free up money to sign better players for a better chance at a 7th superbowl. Tom was basically given an ultimatum to accept the Patriot contract ( I guarantee you regardless of what anyone says that it wasn't even close to what Tampa Bay offered ) plus never a clear indication from Belichick that he wanted Brady back, and so Tom was forced to choose what the better deal was and unfortunately Belichick lost that game of chess against Brady. Tom had two fake knees that he gave for New England and I can totally relate to Tom's decision, but Belichick is an emotionless grump who only cares about getting the best deal and cheapest price.. It all comes down to business ($). Congratulations Tampa Bay fans, I'm excited to see what Tom does for that franchise. I might even go buy his Tampa Bay jersey..

No excuse on behalf of the Pat's. "If Brady wanted to stay..." He wanted a long term deal the year before... I'm sorry but expecting Brady to act out of convince when his brilliance is the only reason the Pat's have been relevant...is beyond insulting...I can only imagine how he felt in 2019. Always a Pat's fan, but I'm more of a Brady fan...if that means saying "Let's go bucs" for a few years so be it.

@@MrPrestiges I wouldn’t call that bandwagon. Personally, I don’t have much respect for people who only root for a jersey and a bunch of coaches and an owner over the actual players that we watch give their everything to win. I got into sports at such a young age, so I was already a HUGe pats fan before brady. But that was when I was a little kid and I didn’t know how to think for myself. I was told that you rooted for the team that was in your area. Once I got a bit older, I realized how silly that was for someone who followed the game as closely as I did. It didn’t make sense to me that people would love players when they played for one team, and then hate them when the left( even if they were simply traded!!) That was was too fickle for me. So I realized I was always a fan of players, and I was not going to turn my back on them simply because of the business end of sports. It honestly makes me a little sick when I think of some people who only root for teams and think it’s wrong to be LOYAL to the actual human beings who we watch out on the field. I don’t want to say it’s kind of like slave mentality..but it’s...I guess I’ll say it just kind of de-humanizes the players themselves. I guess you have to have good perspective to see it that way, though. You have to be able to put yourself in the shoes of the athlete. Maybe you need to have been a somewhat high level athlete yourself to have that type of mentality. Idk. All I can really ask people is this: objectively, isn’t it kind of odd and clearly biased and close minded and just, silly? To argue how great a PLAYER is when he is on one team, but then simply because he finds himself on another team, possibly becusdr of a lack of respect from his boss( which we can all relate to..) we then argue that the player sucks all of a sudden? Lol. It doesn’t make sense. It feels like the type of person who would date someone for 3 years, and even though 2.99 of those years were great, then say it was all a waste when it’s over lol. Life is impermanent.

Burt Burt - It would not surprise me if Gronk visits Brady in camp. I just don’t see him doing a comeback tour. Besides, The Patriots still hold the rights to him.

Nicholas M: How do they "own the rights"?
@The_McD4 жыл бұрын
Burt Burt - it’s just for one season. He had 1 year remaining on his contract. So if he comes back Belichick could offer a trade or release him. I’ve always believed he would take at least 2 years off. As much as I’d love to see him play with Brady, I think he’s done.
@burtburt22634 жыл бұрын
Nicholas M: Gronk didn't play last season...If what you are saying is true, he became a free agent, in January...I do agree, though; He wanted time to let his back fully heal, before playing again. Got a weird feeling he might play for TB this year. Brady's "secret weapon".

Bill was a losing 36 . 44 with the Cleveland Brown (and without Tom Brady). Then he was 5 . 13 with the Patriots before Brady stepped onto the Football Field. That's a record of only 41 . 57. And that is a large sample size (Belichick = loser) . Tom Brady has always been a winner. He won in Michigan (20 . 6) . Then Brady won for 20 years straight, with the Patriots (despite marginal talent around him). Tom Brady will also win with the Tampa Bay Bucs too. Belichick never appreciated what he had in Tom Brady.

@jmooreyork With the 2007 squad that went 18-1? I don't know about you but Brady would probably have taken the 2008 on a similar tear, the same way he tore his acl that year. Finally Matt Cassle earned a pro bowl selection a few years later so he was not all bad. With the worst patriots offense in two decades, no Dante Scarnecchia and no good qb ready to take over, I doubt Bill and the boys will be as good as they were with Matt Castle, Escpecially when they have the hardest schedule in the league.

@@lenchmob0697 - Respect yes. That was important to Brady. But security implies financial security. He already had that in spades which is why he took less money intentionally to give the Pats more cap room so they could get better players.

I hate the Pats, and disagree with your take. BB has won with other QBs and can plug any player in at any position and they perform at high levels. Those QBs and other players go elsewhere and are so-so. BB made Brady, and I think the Pats will thrive and Brady will be ok, but nothing special. Don't get me wrong, Brady is good due to his mind, but he was a cog in a system, and he no longer has that system. In a year or 2 we will know for sure.

you mean the 1994 browns where they finished 11-5? or how about the fact that he literally coached LT as both LB coach AND D-coordinator... the man can make super bowl stars and hell MVPs out of them... also look how Jimmy G is doing in San Fran... the man is flawed don't get me wrong but he can sure as hell make you a super bowl team if you give him total control...
@edgeknight17864 жыл бұрын
i don't think i need to tell you about LT the ONLY linebacker to win LEAGUE MVP and the second defensive player to win it as well... why do you think BB thinks LT was above all the other defensive players in this league? because LT was the fuckin GOAT of all linebackers! until another linebacker wins LEAGUE MVP will he have any grounds to stand on being compared to LT.
