Looking younger is not just about what creams you slather on your face; it’s actually an inside job. Treating your body well on the inside has numerous health benefits, including the quality and appearance of your skin. The skin can reflect the level of inflammation in the body, poor gut health, or even food allergies.
In this episode of my Masterclass series, I am interviewed by my good friend and podcast host, Dhru Purohit, about what we can do to support the body-and the skin. We discuss why essential fatty acids, organ meats, and hot and cold therapies are all important, and so much more.
Dhru Purohit is a podcast host, serial entrepreneur, and investor in the health and wellness industry. His podcast, The Dhru Purohit Podcast, is a top 50 global health podcast with over 30 million unique downloads. His interviews focus on the inner workings of the brain and the body and feature the brightest minds in wellness, medicine, and mindset.
This episode is brought to you by Rupa Health, Athletic Greens, and InsideTracker.

For a few whom I see asking in Comments after listening to the full video, “What are the 5 Secrets?” promised in this interview, here’s an assist from a nerdy girl friend. Yes, they DO talk too fast and hop topics, so it can be difficult to follow. But really good info for rapid-fire listeners & compulsive note-takers. Greetings, Thank you both for publicly addressing these critical threats to premature aging and “expected” signs of aging. I am truly amazed at the detrimental marketing which engages individuals to believe completely false claims. Unfortunately, most people willingly resist change or just live in denial. Dear Dr. Hyman. I am big fan of you. I am from Europe. I have listened almost all your podcast. I heard that you had some kind of autoimmune disorders too, so I still have very big hope to hear one more podcast about autoimmune disorders/diseases of the thyroid (my wish to hear about high TPO antibodies. How to treat it?). Thank you in advance
@HastaSanar
@HastaSanar 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Evaldas. For autoimmune disorders you need to reduce inflammation and stressors. Just like biochemical stressor like leaky gut, parasites, disbiosis, hormone imbalance, costisol imbalance, digestion issues, detoxification overload, and emotional stressor: stressful job, stressful relationships, etc. So, basically you start by finding what's not working on your body and what does. To be able to know exactly what supplement to take and what habits changes to implement whith the goal of starting to low down antibodies.

I'm trying to get enough sleep: 1) quiet 2) dark 3) comfortable bed 4) comfortable temperature 5) bed at 10:30 pm every night 6) keto 7) IF 8) magnesium 9) potassium 10) sodium 11) foods that help sleep 12) no food after 6 pm 13) plenty of water 14) prayer. Yet, every night, I wake after 4 hours of sleep, and can't get back to sleep for at least an hour. Is there something where a four-hour waking interval has to mean it, "It's this?" All I can seem to narrow it down to is stress.

@@nickacelvn No, I need more. Without more, I am super tired throughout the day. Eventually, I go back to sleep for another 3 or 4 hours, but it's not the same quality as getting 8 for me. It could be from a severe concussion I suffered about 14 months ago. Thank you for your attempt to dissect the issue.

Hi Lucy. I am so sorry to hear you are struggling with your sleep. I totally get you. I have been there. If is from stress could be a spike of cortisol but why? Are you stress now? Are you dealing with a stressful situation? Could also be parasite or disbiosis. The gut is an important key to sleep because many neurotransmisores are produce there and parasite increase activity through the night and that can weak you up. I will do some functional lab to figure what's missing. Hope you have a solution.
@lucybraun8969
@lucybraun8969 2 жыл бұрын
@@HastaSanar Thank you so much. Yes, I've been dealing with stress. I utilize all that I know to keep stress levels down - prayer & meditation, deep breathing, exercise, getting out & walking in the sun, staying away from people and things that cause me stress. About two weeks ago, my mom almost died in the hospital, and at that time, I noticed an increase in hair loss and aging, but I had switched the hair supplements I had been taking, and that is now back under control, and aging seems to have turned around somewhat with more strict IF and with topical vitamin E. The wake-ups seem to be either a result of stress, or of a severe concussion I suffered about 14 months ago, but I seem to remember having the problem before the concussion, and back then, I attributed my waking to my having to go to the restroom, but having to go the the restroon is no longer an issue. I do still have increased ringing in my ears that I attribute to the concussion, and well as slight bouts of dizziness occasionally and some short-term memory issues, that are all improving with various brain foods. Sometimes, when I awaken, it's like my brain feels inflamed. I do notice that at the time I wake, I am always parched, and somewhat gasping for air, so I also wonder about sleep apnea, but I've never noticed any snoring at the moment I awaken, and I'm not in the least overweight. Most times, I notice that I awaken when I have been sleeping on my back. My fasting is down to OMAD, and for exercise, besides the walking, I ride an exercise bike for an hour every day. My metabolism is very consistent, but I wonder if I've been eating too much protein. Can that spike cortisol? I have noticed some muscle loss, so that has been my reason for going a bit high on protein that I seem to crave on keto. The biggest carbs I consume on separate days are strawberries, blueberries, carrots and grapefruit, but none of those in big quantities. Maybe these variables can help you narrow it down. I sure do appreciate your feedback. I am up right now after my usual four-hour interval. I probably shouldn't be getting blue light from my phone, so I'll try to go back to sleep. I don't do any powders, but do romaine and an avocado every day, an egg most days, B1 every day, a Brazil nut every day, magnesium supplements each day, nuts each day. An exciting, but odd thing happened about a week ago. For three nights straight, I had longer sleep for the first time in over a year - one night with 8 hours, next one with 7, then one with six. I tried to replicate all I had eaten, the times I ate, how much I ate, my physical activity, and the time I went to sleep, but the 4-hour interval returned. That was so disappointing! I long to get those longer stretches of sleep back. Another thing I should mention: The second leg of my sleep is also always at a 5-hour interval, so, I sleep for 4 hours, then stay awake for an undetermined amount of time (usually between 1-2 hours), and then sleep another 4 hours. It's that odd clockwork-like 4-hour interval that seems to be key to cracking what's waking me. What makes one wake after 4 hours only, and you can set your watch by the wake up time?

I would very much like to hear your opinion. Thank you.

1. Diet - reduce sugar, reduce refined carbohydrates. Eat more organ meat such as liver. Balance omega 3 to omega 6 ratio. Opt for omega 3 oil, olive oil, avocado oil. Increase B7, carotenoids 2.Exercise/ movement - to reduce inflammation and oxidative stress. Improve fascia restrictions 4.Hydrotherapy- sauna followed up with cold plunge then rest. Resets the nervous system 5. Decrease stress - psychological stress creates a physiological response in the body. Cortisol damages skin. Mediation + adequate sleep Bonus: - Electrolytes first thing in the morning. 16 oz Recommends Lyte show. No plastic water bottles. - Sunscreen for external protection and prevent sun damage

I eat no breakfast, for lunch I drink broth(chicken- better than bouillon ) from Costco, with hydrolyzed collagen powder (green lakes ) and nutritional yeast powder-it makes for a very delicious drink and it is filling .Eggs are very good too ! I was on injections and infusions and have not had one in 2 months. I take no other meds. Occasionally I use the same broth for dinner, but I add a beaten whole egg !
