True. After the god phase I broke past my personal barrier of Diamond 2 div 3 and finally made it to champ. Took a few weeks of just casually practicing and playing casuals so next time I play ranked itll be easy. I queued 1 ranked game and felt completely lost and outpaced from playing casuals so much. Said "nah were not doing this" and went back on the grind. Am still solidly in champ so the "crash and burn phase" effectively lasted 1 ranked game :D

I play on Xbox and the preset button for air roll is ‘X’ so I changed it to ‘LB’ and saw a difference in aerials, recovery, drifting/ breaking axles lol

I reckon this is why: Succ phase: You’ve either been demoted or have started playing the game and are at the lowest rank you’ve been in a while and are learning how to get better(probably watching sunless’s videos) Training phase: you’re seriously trying to get better at the game by doing training packs, free play and whatever you can do to get better really God phase: All the training has paid off and your now at your peak rank and playing more than ever Crash and burn phase: God didn’t like how good you were I mean you’ve accelerated incredibly quickly up the ranks in the god phase and since you’ve reached your peak, you’ll start losing games Acceptance phase: you’ve accepted that you’re bad

Nearly 1500 hours in and at Diamond 3 I still focus/talk more about position, rotation (and defense) more than mechanics and am definitely way below average mechanically for my rank. I’m gonna take this video as a sign to start training a bunch. Thanks Sunless.

AlphaV honestly getting really good at both of these things dont really matter until C2 or higher. anything below you can either practice your game iq or mechanics and it will probably get you past diamond. i learned to (somewhat) airdribble in gold. hit some nutty shots but learning that also helped me with my overall ball control and confidence in making nice offensive plays happen. didnt focus too much on positioning but still got C1

The best part about the stages is that you can always revert to the training phase and become god again. And I think I figured out how to beat it. I've been ssl for so long and I feel like I'm still god (not trying to be cocky) even though I go up against pro's a lot. I usually focus on my mechanics and it works out because I always train every day and I never lose them so that's what I suggest for anyone in the succ or the crash and burn phase, or acceptance. Just focus on mechanics and teamwork and it never gets old. Also, if your in the crash and burn phase, try free styling, its really fun

July 19: 3 months ago, I started doing more free play and training packs, and in the last 1,5 month, I went from Plat 2 div 3 to Dia 2 div 3. I played so much better, and my opponents and teammates were so much better too. I stopped training the last 4 days and only played ranked, to see if I even needed it now and if I could play without warm-up. From 2 days ago until today, I tilt deranked all the wat back to Plat 3 div 3. I stopped now because I was very salty, my teammates didnt help me anymore because they were worse, I because of that distrust, I kept losing. I'll take a 2 day break probably, and I hope to play less tilted then. August 3: In the last 2 weeks, I played with a friend of mine, but I also solo queued, and I went from Plat 3 div 3 to Diamond 2 Div 3. Yesterday, I had a session with that friend, and we had a crazy win streak and some insane awesome comebacks. I went up to Diamond 3 div 3. Today (in like 30 min), we're playing again, and we hope to hit Champ today. He is div 4, I'm div 3. I'll update it tonight or tomorrow.

Relatable, one of the previous seasons I just did placements matchs and landed p2 after I made a comment that blew up on a "pro try to guess x's rank" video where people asked me about my rank, not interrested that much in ranked but I was still spending my time in freeplay when I was just chatting with friends etc. The next season one of my friends that sucks(i'm not saying it to be offensive) wanted to farm the end of season reward. I wasnt expecting much, I was previously ok tier in platinum and kinda stressed in ranked so i was like "what else could go wrong playing with a gold stuck teamate for who knows how much game?" So I started these ranked and... just crushed everything. Diamond was a mere dream to me but to my surprise i was relaxed and proceded into a 30+ winstreak through platinum and low diamond, it was crazy i remember looking at the rl tracker because i felt we won a lot and yeah, that was the case. That friend I played with really really succed but I was just better and ended champ1 when I finally got the diamond reward rank or whatever it is called. I stopped there with 60 wins 10 losses , because the deal at the start was to have the ranked rewards for plat and maybe diamond and i felt like we got more than we wanted at the start, and thats when it hit me, the burnout. It wasn't a sudden 'I suck' phase, it's just that I lost total interrest in the game because i was "that good" just by kicking the ball in freeplay when I had spare time, that I kinda felt that I could be as strong as I wanted just by putting more time and effort into the game. But I didn't want to put more time into the game. I know it sounds delusional and it surely is but it was just the realisation that the time I put in the game was directly increasing my skill, in a very direct way. Not like some abstract thing like "oh by sprinting every day you will improve 0.2 sec on your 100m after god knows how much time. It was like a roadmap in front of me. If that day I did that, then next week I was c2, etc and I just felt that it was so inevitable that there was no point. The thrill and excitement wasn't there anymore so I didn't want to put more time into the game. Now i'm here, month and month later commenting on a 1 year old rocket league video as if speaking to my psychologist because it feels good to talk about the burnout. Since then, I played a really slow paced hunting game which helped me relax and am now going back little by little on rocket league. I am but a mere shadow of my past self but i think it is a good thing, because I now enjoy just hitting the ball around even if it feels awkward and frustrating at times. I hope nobody lost their time reading this pile of arrogant garbage but at least it did me some good to open myself a little bit to unload. Hope you all have a great time and remember, have fun playing, the rest doesn't matter.
