just in case you still need help on this, adding 1/(x+2) to 1/(x-3) would form (2x-1)/(x²-x-6), which is equal to 4, multiply the discriminant with 4 and group the like terms tgt would get you 4x²-6x-23=0, now apply the quadratic formula and you'll see, hope this helps!

i have a question, at 8:49 why did we write the x values as 5,1 and not -5, -1
@not...not...no.6432 жыл бұрын
Hi! 😄 basically when you have come to that final stage in solving a quadratic (when you've got two brackets) you have to reverse the sign of both of them to get x [ if u want to know exactly why, this is because the whole quadratic equals 0, so they have to cancel out if that makes sense? so instead of -5, x is actually 5 because -5+5=0. u don't need to know this, just to help u understand if it helps 😅]
