@Bevan McNicholl I do not understand this take. As a member of the team, I have (along with the others, but I can only speak for myself) worked very hard on this video for over a month. Everything from audio recording to 3D animations and effects composting takes a lot of time and effort. Why do you think we don't "deserve" views? Because my former boss, who immediately afterwards severed ties with the channel and has nothing to do with me or the other editors of this video, pulled a shady move that we had nothing to do with? The person who fucked up is not a part of this channel anymore, and despite not having anything to do with it we've stilled apologized for what went down. Those of us left just like making content, that's all we wanna do.

interesting fact about the museum: to this day, they have the empty frames of the stolen pieces still hanging on the walls, in the hopes that they be returned one day. as a Bostonian, I appreciate this video a lot, lol. great work as usual :)
@cromtrubeenus5372 Жыл бұрын
It's more to do with Isabella Gartner's final will. They're not allowed to move the frames because they're not supposed to change the layout in any significant way because of her original vision for the museum (her life story is wild). That's also why that museum is laid out the way it is with absolutely no labels on most of the artworks. That's why they built an extra building next door to do rotating exhibits and they only have one room that they made significant exhibit changes to and that was after a push by the new head of the museum to put local artists inside the house. I'm still surprised noone tried taking the Michelangelo sketches that are just sitting in a cabinet in the 2nd floor closet room (yes that is real)

If you want an other art heist check the 1972 Montreal Museum of Fine Arts robbery. 18 art pieces were stolen, the thieves also stole 38 pieces of jewellery and figurine, for a total of 2 000 000$ (around 14 200 800$ today). The three robbers entered the museum by a skylight that had been covered by a plastic sheet in the course of some ongoing work. One of them was armed with a pump action shotgun and another with a .38-caliber Smith & Wesson handgun. All three guards were overpowered and taken to a lecture hall where they were bound and gagged. The three suspect were never found.

Despite how romanticised art heists have been throughout modern media, I find it to be a repulsive showcase of greed. In reality, those art pieces are either destroyed, poorly preserved and therefore damaged, stored without much care, or hanging in the wall of some egocentric magnate who needs to compensate some sort of deeply rooted insecurity with expensive memorabilia. This "business" feeds the greed of many undeserving scumbags who don't properly respect the work of artists who have literally shaped our history. They really deserve everything bad that might happen to them, regardless of whether they are the perpetrators of the heist, the ones coordinating the resales, or the ones purchasing the stolen pieces.
@fidelio9301 Жыл бұрын
None of them are destroyed or poorly preserved, they are going on the black market mate, why do you think they stole them…
@rokaq5163 Жыл бұрын
@@fidelio9301 Many art pieces do not sell immediately after being stolen. The conditions on which the pieces are stored in until a buyer finally acquires them is always inadequate, which accelerates the degradation of the piece. Buyers are also guilty of preserving the pieces in rooms that are anything but suitable due to their humidity, temperature and light conditions. Finally, the cleaning process required to avoid any damage to an old painting is methodical and carefully executed by a expert only if strictly necessary, which isn't the case if said piece is cleaned by your average underpaid maid while hung on some douchebag millionare's living room. As a final nail in the coffin, some art pieces are so poorly treated after being stolen that they eventually become unsalvageable, or are outright destroyed to avoid prosecution, due to accidents or because the thief intended to do so regardless. It's overall a sad story of acquisition, degradation and loss for most stolen pieces

And he let them handcuff him because they said he had a warrant even though he's in a guard outfit in a guard room and was the guard who let them in. I just don't see anyone falling for this especially because fake Police officers have been problem specially back then. Why didn't he say anything about the fire alarms that would be the first thing I tell and shoe the police. I think he was in on it. Too much of a coincidence that the robbery happen on the same day the new guard started. Plus when he called him back into the office he didn't even mention the Police so they could restrain him easier.
