I pick up a 1998 Kawasaki Prairie 400 cc that needs a little bit of cosmetic work. I fix it up and take it for a ride.

I have a 2002 Prairie 650 and I`ll tell you, it is an damn beast since it is a two cylinder and not only is it powerful, it tops out to this day at almost 65 mph!

Actually, I own this exact model but a year earlier. There was, back in 1997 a kit (tube that had heated water from the radiator) that was wrapped around the carb to keep it warm so that it wouldn’t freeze the fuel flow in the carb at lower temperatures. Worked like a charm. Just replaced the clutch assembly last week. 985km (90% snow plowing). Still runs great after 23 years of service. The “2nd kill switch” is actually meant to be held in while reversing if you want to go backwards at speed. Un-held, the motor acts as if there’s a low speed governor and bogs down on purpose like most riding lawn mowers do today. 4 stroke! 😃

From my experience, you don't need to run in low unless your towing something heavy. Should be able to keep it in high gear.

Just bought a 2WD 1998 Kawasaki 400 kaps for under $1400.00. It has always been garaged and has many of the original parts but no hour meter. Need new rear tires but it seems to be in good order. Really like it for the money.

Mine was a brand new 98 Kawasaki Prairie 300 4x4 with only 800 miles on it, it was a tank it was green & black it had pretty much everything on it & for it I loved it

Fix the exhaust leak for more power I have a kawasaki 300 bayou 4x4 with more power. Paint the racks black they look better, also get new stickers on ebay as well as seat cover.

Here is a personal tip I’ve used on my Kawasaki bayou 250 gas gauge. Get some napkins and stuff them into the plastic around the gas gauge once you have perfectly covered the plastic strap some clear coat on the gas gauge and you’ll be able to see it.

Hey man, I had a 1999 prairie 300 2x4 and had the same problem with it bogging down and not running. This model was discontinued and parts are rare. The carburetor is most likely the problem because I got a Chinese carb for it and it did that. If you want to drop $200 on a carb you should do it it’s a great 4 wheeler with the original carb but crap with Chinese

There is a rustoleum professional black spray paint that you can find at walmart... it does a great job and seems to last. Joanna fabric sells a black marine vinyl that's cheap and should work well for a seat cover

You dont know if its a 2 stroke.. you look at the engine and still wonder if the coolant overflow is 2 stroke oil.. and the suspension for towing. Have a look at where the hitch is. If this bike sags in the rear when towing.. you will have a serious problem. Pay more attention to things and your videos will seem alot better to first time viewers like me.
