I believe some Kawasaki bikes are made in the US. Also My Toyota Tundra Truck was made in Texas. The only motorcycle brands I will consider are Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki and Yamaha. I'm sure they too have some duds, but Japanese companies just seem to be on another level when it comes to reliability in general.

@clonecommandermike332 This is what I'm talking about. Both sides have their fringes. They are both annoying. To say that conservatives care what LGBT people do is wrong. HD built the XLCR cafe racer in the late 70’s. But because it was small, lightweight, handled well and was fast, naturally it didn’t sell. Just goes to show you HD is a victim of its own success. If it doesn’t weigh 700Lbs and does nothing more than turning gasoline into noise then it just isn’t a Harley Davidson.

Harley employee here (soon to be former employee as of next week) - I loved this video. As a motorcycle salesman, I can’t tell you how many times I have to hear an old dude complain to me about how Harley went “woke”. And as a black man, it’s even funnier because they don’t even know the origins of the term woke and what it really means. (Some employees included 😂) That being said, this video was on the money. There really is nothing like a Harley, I had a triumph legend 900 when I started working at the dealership here - wrecked it and got a sportster. And even though it’s slow, hates running at high rpm’s, and clunky, it has more character and just looks and feels cooler than my triumph did. When I first started at the dealership, I never saw myself owning a bagger, or liking them, but after going out in multiple test rides (and riding literally every bike HD offers) - I get it! There’s nothing like riding a road glide on the highway at 80mph and catching a cross wind from an 18 wheeler - then realizing, YOU HAVENT MOVED AT ALL!! one day when my locs are grey, and my beer gut is a little bigger, I will buy one. I won’t finance one, but I will buy one lmao. Side note - in my humble opinion, if you’re going to buy an HD and you have the funds, get the Pan America, or the Low Rider ST. Hands down the two best bikes they make. Okay rant over. Great video yam.

@@browngreen933 woke was a term coined by black folks during the civil rights/jim crow era. The term was used among black folks as sort of a code word when warning others about dangers they may encounter in sun down towns, or certain areas in general. An example of how it would have been used is “stay woke when you’re traveling through (insert city or area here), you know they don’t take kindly to us” or “if you’re planning on eating at (insert restaurant here) stay woke, cus last time black folks were in there they got poisoned”. If you want a more detailed explanation, just KZbin “origins of the term woke” or “woke co opted” and you will forsure find some educational material. With this being the context, it’s even more disgusting that the word has been co opted and used by certain individuals, to further try and marginalize those who have historically been put into that position. I say all that to say, most people who aren’t black don’t know what the term means or where it began. So to them, they’re just using a political buzz word. But that’s not what it is, that’s what it has been weaponized as.

Bikers, sure, I get it they seem very funny to me, they all look like "Wild Hogs" cosplay, but that is understandable, the community has history, US is birthplace of this lifestyle and just like every other lifestyle, this too is radicalized, Its like starting with pine tree in the woods that ended up as plastic golden Christmas tree middle aged mom assembles every year. At the end of the day what matters is you, road and your bike, no matter which company made it, I just got Harley Softail Slim, I got it not because of HP, or torque, I just got it because I like the way it sounds and looks and I want to glide through mountains with that iron horse, that's the point of bike in the first place, embracing your freedom and not giving fuck. Face it - if your grandparents rode Harleys, if your parents rode Harleys, then you are going to ride Harleys. My family never rode, but I began to date a 10 out of 10 blonde mid-western gal. One day I said to her, "Hey Ive signed up for a motorcycle class." She replied, "Thats great babe, just make sure if you want me on the back of your bike it had better be a Harley." Lol Culture is a powerful force. I grew up in the town where the Sons of Silence were founded. The Sons are still in evidence here in this part of Colorado. I have yet to see a Son aboard anything but a Harley. The kid who has worked on my CVO bike for the last seven years is a fully patched Angel. Yammie...I can tell you've met very few HD owners but thats okay. I'll fill you in on my reasons why I ride HD and none of them were in your video. 1. In my area, the best powersport dealer is the locally owned and operated Harley Davidson franchise. And when I say locally owned and operated, I mean I called them the other day and the owner picked up the phone. He's always at the dealership willing to talk to customers and has even been to known to work on bikes in the service department. Speaking of service department, there are literally hundreds of years of experience between all the techs and they're always there when/if I need them. 2. I'm by no means a smaller person. My Road Glide just fits me. Yes, I had to do some modifications to get there but I can honestly say that I don't like riding other bikes because I now have my bike tailored to my body size/type 3. I'm no spring chicken anymore. I'm pushing 40 so anything other than a touring style bike, while ridable, doesn't give me the time in the seat without paying for it later. On the other hand, I can and have ridden hundreds of miles in a day and been just fine. So rag on the brand all you want, I enjoy riding my bike

I did all the things you normally do: wrote letters to the board, assassinated the company's product with a belt-fed machine gun, picketed. No dice. They just insisted on making the soda and the beer...well, colored. I'll never forgive them. Never!

Harley rider/owners should not be lumped all into the same category. There are some of us that agree with the South Park clip. Not all of us wear assless chaps and blindly complain about “woke” America. I’ve been riding for a long time, I have a sport naked and a Harley. Many Harley owners are ignorant, most of us non-koolaid drinking Harley owners laugh at the blind sheep FTW group. It can be extremely annoying listening to them whine like misinformed adolescents.

I've ridden Harleys for nearly 50 years. I do not plan on selling the two I currently own anytime soon. Yam, I find most of your takes to be entertaining and that's why I subscribed a few years ago. The mockery and derision that drips from your commentary when Harley-Davidson, aficionados of the brand, and baby boomers in general are the topic used to be entertaining as well, even though some of it hit pretty close to home. The invective has become even stronger lately for some reason, even though you put yourself forward as a lover of motorcycles in general and encourage people to ride, regardless of the particular machine they choose. So, while you are free to express yourself as you choose, I am free to spend my time and money as I choose. I know that it is difficult for most not born in this country to fully understand things that are quintessentially American and I am a simp for nothing and no person. Screw it, LET'S RIDE!

I think it’s nothing to do with loyalty. Every Harley rider wants to be and look cool with the majority pathologically thinking they are tough and in a club. When they are not. Then you have the clubs who want respect through fear and so on. Harley is a beautiful looking motorbike company with an interesting history, but as a mechanic I think they are sxxt.

I used to ride a Yamaha Bolt R-Spec and people would always ask me “what kind of Harley is that?” And my response was always something sarcastic. Come to think of it, people are just as loyal in their commitment to bash HD. At the end of the day, just ride your ride. I’ve owned 17 bikes and currently on a RE 650. Next year I plan to switch over to the Yamaha XRS 900. In another year or two, I might swing a leg over an Africa Twin. This shit isn’t supposed to make sense. Just get on a bike that makes you smile when you pull the throttle.

I’m a guy who used to work at a Harley Davidson dealership. I got my license there on a Buell Blast. And I really really want a Harley Davidson one day. But, they do not make anything that I would want. They don’t make a beginner bike, they don’t make an expensive bike, they don’t make a modern bike, really. And that can be fine, no one is asking for a beginner, MV Augusta. But, even Ducati is making new and varied models, and they even have the Scrambler line that is not wildly expensive for what it is. And it is disappointing to see that they could have made a beginner bike (X440) in the US, orat least made The Bronx. But they chose not to, so now they have pretty much nothing that I want to get / justifiably can afford, and that’s their own fault. And makes no sense to me.

Totally out of touch. Not to mention lots of the info is just wrong. Amf did not outsource. They imported a few select Italian models and that's all. Have you noticed how many 50 plus year old Harleys are still on the road? Most powerful? No. Fastest? No. Durable and and top tier quality? Absolutely. Not saying everyone has to like them but they are legendary for a reason. A modern Honda accord would burn my 69 Camaro any day but the Camaro is still a sweet machine. Lots of Egos and shovels out there with a quarter million miles on them. Keep the rubber down fellas

I'm from the UK and have owned a bunch of Japanese sports-tourers across the late 90s and early 2000s, but now have a 2002 Fatboy. As a teen, I rode to school on the back of my dad's Virago 750, and have always preferred cruiser style bikes - I don't enjoy trying to ride fast on public roads, it feels more like pressure/work than just doing my own thing. I had sports-tourers as a teen/20s for a few reasons - price and UK availability, highway suitability (a need at the time), and a degree of peer-pressure in sports-bike obsessed UK of the era. When the opportunity to get a ride-for-fun only bike (rather than a daily workhorse), I bought the Fatboy. I had 3 reasons for this. Firstly, I had a $10k budget, so wasn't impacted by high prices for new bikes of any brand. I nearly tried to stretch the budget for a new Scout, but it was just out of reach and there is only 1 dealer anywhere near me. I could have got a 'metric' and loved my dad's Virago (and would have a metric today). But I picked the Fatboy for reason 2, Harley make cruiser style bikes primarily. Their cruiser line is not one of many lines that takes inspiration from other brands, but their chief product. If I want pancakes, I go to IHop, not McD's even though McD's do pancakes also. I do like metric cruisers also, but would prefer one from when they did their own thing a bit more - the inline 4 ZL900 or v4 V65 Sabre...but for this century, they are all (now midsize only in UK) v2 clones; though a growing segment of parallel twins is interesting Finally, I wanted a bike I could tweak to my own shape and aesthetic desires - and there is an easier aftermarket supply in the UK for HD than metric cruisers; so Fatboy it was as the mix of right bike and right price. Now I just want a z900rs to sit alongside it

I have one tiny criticism. At about 6:50, Yammie says Japanese motorcycle manufacturers manufacture all styles of motorcycles across engine displacement, riding styles, price points with the goal of attracting riders across ages, experiences, and riding levels. Yes, I agree, Japanese motorycles have more diversity in this regard, but...HD manufacturers all styles of motorcycles across engine displacement, riding styles, price points with the goal of attracting riders across ages, experiences, and riding levels. They have offroad bikes, cheaper bikes, expensive bikes, touring bikes, around town badass bikes, etc. Just a minor quibble.

Really? Where's their 400cc sub-$6000 starter bike? Where's their hypernaked? Where's their sport bike? Where's their dirt bike? Where's their dual sport? The Pan American is a big ADV bike - just like the BMW GS, it's a road bike with high suspension that won't have trouble with a logging road, and very skilled people can do a certain amount of technical stuff, but it AIN'T a dirt bike, or even a dual sport.

Not everyone can buy a brand new Escalade. They purchase a used highly optioned Suburban or Tahoe instead. What really interests me about your comments on HD is how slow they are. That is hilarious. They can pretty much all hit at least 105 (well above the posted speed limit even in Texas), and do you not also rag on those who want litre bikes because they will never be able to us all of that horsepower on the streets? Seems like you like to ralk out of both sides of your...mouth. One of the most comfortable bikes 8 have owned was a 800 lb Harley. It probably saved my life one night. I hit a deer while traveling at 70-75 mph, and the bike did not even slow down. I did have to stop because my leg got banged up as the deer wrapped around the left side of the bike, flipped in the air, then ran off (it didn't even have the decency to provide my family with delicious deer steaks). I rode the bike for over 100,000 miles and sold it for decent money. I have also owned Hondas, Yamahas, a couple of custom japanese motored choppers in the 70's Swedish style. Now I own and ride a Kawasaki Z900. I have enjoyed all of my bikes. As far as HD's socio-political statements go; I would rather companies make good products, not jump on any political bandwagon. I do not care who is in whose bed. If someone wants to say they are something they are obviously (or sometimes NOT so obviously) are not, great for them (if they are an adult, if they are not an adult they do not need sterilization or surgery, they need therapy). As far as them building bikes in other countries, I really wish they wouldn't, but I will not curtail my purchase as long as it is not China. I really want a PanAmerica. I see used ones prices falling so there is that. Ride what you want and dont worry about what anyone else does. Is not the saying, "Ride your own ride." That can gor for the equipment you operate as well, not just how fast or slow you operate it.
