Valve amps are temperamental, especially the tubes. If you want sonic reliability / consistency, I'd go with the modeller...

Hey Peter, some tube amps are for sure, especially vintage amps. But most modern tube amps are pretty rock solid now. Modellers are excellent these days but there is still something very very very special about using a tube amp. There is a magic that happens with glowing tubes 😊 Have an awesome day!

Great video as usual, Jay. I have to say your amp set up is nasty. Such deep natural tone coming out of that bad boy. You are right though, for what it does, the Ampero is a great tool (and value). I have been very happy with mine. My band plays such a wide array of songs/bands that I utilize it for its flexibility. I need something that can give me great tone whether we are playing Johnny Cash or Motley Crue. The one thing I have struggled with is getting clean tones that I am happy with. I can program some really good dirty tones. Please consider doing a "how to program clean tones" video. Thanks!!

Sounds great. One of my biggest gripes with my Helix is the plexi just doesn't seem right to me and I really wish they'd revisit it like they did the jcm 800

@jayguitar I'm good Jay! I've been doing a couple simple amp mods lately and writing new tunes for my band. I do like some models in the Helix but what I've found I like best is to run a real analog pedal into it to boost their amp models and that seems to give it more of the right feel to me. Hi Derek, yes, exactly the same sounds on both. The Hardware is actually exactly the same on both. The stage is just a bigger unit with more buttons. Once you update the firmware on the Stomp, it sounds identical to the Stage. Hope that helps. Have an awesome day!

But ur amp is not made by Marshall. Who knows what differenced u would find at a blind test your DIY Marshall wiring brown box vs a real Marshall plexi.

Thanks for checking out the video. It’s a good question! But, if it walks like a Plexi, and talks like a Plexi…. then it’s a Plexi 😂 I have played a real Marshall Plexi and my amp sounds like a Plexi, of that I have no doubt. Of course, there were differences between the early Marshall amps that were built because of a lack of supply of components, so Marshall used to substitute if they ran out of a value. But the essence and DNA of a Super Lead/Plexi amp ran through all the amps that were built. The circuit is quite simple - in comparison to modern multichannel amps - which is why the clone amps do actually sound just like the ‘real deal’. Anyways, have a great day!

I prefer the sound of Ampero over Line 6.. for amps, for effects Line 6 are probably better but the effects tones aren't perfect for Line 6 either. I know I'm not alone in that, but Line 6 does have a lot fans as well. Also, you get can the Hotone stuff a lot cheaper if you shop in the right places.
