Why is James from Fallout 3 on the list? Just look at Amata's father in the same game. As overseer, he views himself as the most important person in Vault 101, went berserk when James left the vault, beat Jonas to death since he was a friend of James, had officer Mack beat his daughter with a police baton to try to make her speak about where her friend was, tries to convince you to give him your weapons, only for him to attack you with them, puts the people in the vault against each other, claims that he loves his daughter, but claims his job as overseer is more important than her, and so on.

Ethan Mars shouldn't be on this video anyway considering the fact that Jason walked off by himself and upon finding his dad walks across a road very slowly while a car is coming. If you watch carefully Ethan grabs Jason and twists midair resulting in him getting hit on the back by the car which doesn't explain Jason's death. He then suffers greatly for his sons death and has these major blackouts which obviously isn't his fault. He then has a blackout and his other son Shaun goes off with a guy dressed in a police uniform. Throughout the game there are multiple choices and endings proving he is a great father (drinking poison, chopping off fingers and dropping off buildings to get away from the police so that he has time to save his son) FATHER OF THE YEAR AWARD 10/10

James was a good father, imo. For one thing, he doesn't abandon the Lone Wanderer until after the Wanderer is at least 18 years old. He at least raised him to be an adult and, if the birthday party is any indication, cared about his child's happiness and gave him/her all the attention he could spare, given the important nature of his work. The fact that he left and got trapped in a virtual reality program doesn't make him a bad parent. He left for the greater good, but he clearly regrets having to leave his child behind to do so. When things really go bad and he is forced to gas the room he is in, his last thoughts are of the Wanderer's safety, telling his child to run for safety. James was a great parent. He just happened to have a very important project to work on and did the best he could to protect his child while still completing his work for the greater good.

There's also the fact that James abandoned Project Purity the first time so he could get the Lone Wanderer into a Vault and keep him safe. He was willing to let the world go to shit to keep his son safe. He only went back to his work when his son was a man grown and could look after himself. He never thought that the Overseer would force the Wanderer out after he left.

He can't be blamed for not being some all knowing providence. The overseer let him in, after all. He probably believed he would allow his son/daughter to stay. He also knew that the Overseer had some problems with him, but what had his child ever done to get on the Overseer's bad side? He probably thought his child's friendship with the Overseer's daughter Amata would shield James' child from any fallout (excuse the pun). He made a mistake, yeah, but he's only human. Everyone makes mistakes.

He was having random blackouts and possibly split personality disorder, given that he would head to a specific place with an origami figure he didn't know how to make. That isn't the kind of time to be having your young son over, and we see what happened to Shaun when he had one of those episodes while having his kid around. (In a deleted scene they explained it was supposed to be a psychic link with the killer, so when the killer did those things Ethan did too, but it was removed because they didn't want a supernatural aspect.)

I just thought of a few more bad parents. 1. *Cervantes de Leon (Soul Calibur)*: He's so obsessed with gaining the power of Soul Edge that he's perfectly willing to manipulate his daughter Ivy into serving him and helping him achieve it. Oh, and Ivy's stepdad was an alchemist who was also obsessed with finding Soul Edge to the point that he died for it, and Ivy dedicated her life to destroy it in revenge. No wonder Ivy hates her dad Cervantes so much. 2. *Rosalina (Super Smash Bros.)*: I mean, think about it! She basically uses the Lumas--her own adopted children--as her private army! She always takes one with her during a fight, and whenever one gets killed, *she immediately replaces it with another one without showing the tiniest remorse for the last one's death*! Talk about your violent mothers! 3. *Darth Vader (The Force Unleashed)*: I know he technically isn't Starkiller's dad, but he's the closest thing he had to a father figure through most of his life. Anyway, Vader *murdered* Starkiller's real dad *right in front of him (and Starkiller was still just a kid)!* Then, Vader abducts Starkiller, put him through hellish, violent training to become a Sith Warrior, sends him on dangerous suicide missions to kill missing Jedi (and everyone else, enemies or not), and then *BETRAYS STARKILLER!!! TWICE!!!* Not to mention, he later *kills* Starkiller, clones him hundreds of times, and then tries to kill the seemingly perfect clone who remembers the past Starkiller's life. Bonus points if you chose the Dark Side ending, where it's revealed that Vader had a "perfect" clone with him all along and the one you were playing as was just a pawn. Anyway, that's enough rambling from me.

When you think about it Ethan Mars Is not a bad parent when Jason was going to get hit by a car he ran in to try to save him and got put into a 6-Month Coma. Then he came out and eventually his other son Shaun was abducted and he took a Poison, Cut off a finger to save Shaun thus meaning he would do anything to save his son so logically he's not a bad parent. He even said in the Finger Amputation scene "I'll do anything to save my son."

Sensia v7.03 Jason ran off on his own despite Ethan repeatedly telling him not to run off, then he did his best to find Jason again, hunting him down through the crowds and took a car (given the cutscene) to the back for him. Kid running off happens to lots of parents, my brother ran off and followed a lady and her pram when my mum was pregnant, I've been distracted and wandered off when I was younger. My cousin outright left the house at 4 years old and wandered the streets, and my friends nephew learned how to open doors and wandered down to the park (Around 1-2 year old) Shaun, Ethan was (it's hinted at) drugged, so yeah, his is excusable. I don't think it's fair to call Ethan a bad parent for something so???? Normal???? Like, it's a commonplace thing, it'd mean most parents are 'the worst'. Like, there's plenty of parents worse than that that could replace him, Flemeth from Dragon Age abuses her daughter and it's hinted that she steals their bodies. But losing a child is evidently worse x_x

Ethan didn't even try, he was telling Jason to stay in the kind of way you casually tell a dog to stay, so of course Jason wasn't going to listen. Child psychology 101. If it's so common that kids run off where you are, then I have to question the quality of parenting they're getting in your community, because where I'm from it's not something that happens very often. Hardly at all, actually, and it's very concerning when it does.

Honorable Mention for Leandra Amell, mother of Hawke in "Dragon Age 2". She spent all of her time, making sure Hawke knew s/he was a complete failure that let her down every chance s/he got. This began when they were all trying to flee Lothering as it was overwhelmed by darkspawn, and your sibling runs up to an ogre and gets her/himself killed before anyone could act. As Hawke tries to comfort her/his mother, she says, "This was all your fault" and reminds her/him that if she had just been stronger/ faster/ a better daughter or son/ etc. then Carver/ Bethany wouldn't have died. It just continues through the whole game.

Brenden Grillett I played Inquisition, and nowhere is it revealed that's not true. I imagine that you're referring to Flemeth telling Morrigan that she was never in any danger because "a soul does not force itself on the unwilling". Even if Flemeth was telling the truth, that's not a denial of the evil intentions she had for Morrigan to begin with. Nor does it change the fact that she DID possess the bodies of every previous daughter she had.
