Cut carbs, limit calories, low-fat EVERYTHING and more nonsense that gets imposed on us by diets targeting weight loss can suck all joy out of life.
Even if you make progress with your weight loss goals, these tactics rarely last for long because they’re simple unsustainable. You never feel happy or satisfied, your body and mind is deprived of foods you enjoy and even after all that suffering, weight loss can misleading.
That's why I prefer to focus on true lifestyle change, rather than dieting, for losing weight and keeping it off.
The 80/20 principle is something that perfectly embodies what has worked for me in finally losing weight, keeping it off and being healthier and happier than ever. It works great with the Cleanish Movement in focusing on the majority of your behaviors, but also enjoying the lifestyle and journey to get there.
I don't just believe, I know, that the 80/20 principle will work for you too, which is why I'm sharing it with you in this video.

My brother lost 132 pounds with the "freedom day" method. He follows a super strict diet 6 days a week, but every Saturday he eats absolutely everything he wants. That way, each time he feels frustrated during the week, he simply thinks about the next Saturday and all the good stuff he is going to have.

This video is so realistic. I tried going full throttle with watching calories and carbs. I became so obsessed with food that my life was being controlled by it. I may have been losing weight but I was miserable. Then I stopped beating myself up and felt the desire to eat healthy "most of the time". So, if I indulged in over 20 carbs - I didn't let it make me crazy. I am now losing weight and happy at the same time. I didn't think this was possible. It was all about balance for me. However, first I had to break the sugar addiction. I am disciplined and intentional with food matters. Now, cookies aren't the boss of me!

I know that being a sugar (and potato chips) addict I have to be very careful about how I allow myself to cheat. I think the key is to plan what, when, why and how. And I allow myself some regular treats, although limited to small pieces, like 90% dark chocolate, cheese and salted coconut chips. I have already planned what to eat and cheat with on Christmas Eve and New Year. 😅

I’ve been doing this for 20 Months now, I’ve lost 82lbs, from 212 down to 129. I’m lean I can see my six pack outline, my cloths fit wonderful. I’m down from a 36 waistline to a 29 and I still want the pancakes, ice cream, donuts, soda. I have to try this 80/20 rule it sounds better then me cutting for 6 days then binge eating in a few hours smh. My stomach is so flat, Im really worried about gaining weight back. I feel like I’m a month away from gaining all the weight back. If I eat like I want to for a 1 month I probably would gain it all back.

I have never been able to find this and I would love to. I ate no sugar/dairy/gluten with no cheats for 6 months Oct-March last year for health reasons. I lost 30 lbs but then one day for absolutely no reason at all, I wanted a treat. Then it just spiraled from there and I've gained back 20 lbs. I feel like if I eat 100% good, I eventually feel deprived and fall off the wagon. But if I try to allow myself occasional treats while trying to eat good overall, I also fall off. I'm currently thinking I'll plan for a cheat day once/week and that would't be a total binge but just allow myself a couple treats and a dinner I want or something. Frustrated...

Great video. I want to add that the 20% for someone who is an addict to certain food ie sugar may not work. How I know? I tried this and because I have a sugar addiction I actually have to stay away from processed sugars with gaining discipline from doing my two meals a day with one snack such as a fruit or some healthy whole food snack. This way I am gaining discipline to coming off the addiction to sugar that way when I do allow a little bit of processed sugars later I have discipline to do so.

Hi!! I have a question, how do you know you're like...eating enough?? I've always struggled with weight and I'm really trying to eat well and lose weight. I'm in my last year of college (going to grad school soon) so I'm trying to find foods/meals that dont take too too long, but like when I even get to that, I eat too much, or not enough and I'm hungry, or a lot but they're empty calories, I'm just so confused 🥲

to figure out how many calories you need to eat in a day, multiple your current weight by 11. this gives you what is called your “calorie deficit” which means you will be consuming less calories than you burn (thus losing weight). then figure out how many calories the food you’re eating has in it and make sure no matter what you are eating, you don’t go over that number (the body weight x 11 number) good luck!! ❤️❤️

@@lakeyawilson2253 yes you would use pounds. so for example, i am about 105 pounds so i take that and multiply it by 11 and i get 1155. that is how many calories i will eat in a day to eat in a calorie deficit

@@rashminair510 so we just have a regular dinner as we would normally. We give ourselves a 2 hr window in which we usually end up eating all we need/ want in a 1 hour window. We eat until we are full. Just because we haven’t eaten in 24 hrs. Doesn’t mean we eat to make up for it. It almost feels as if we have eaten all day and then have dinner. Make sense? Highly recommend a multivitamin with this eating style. We don’t overthink it. We eat dinner every day at a similar time but not always, usually ends up 24 hours.
