Hardware doesn't really matter anymore beyond handling the unoptizmized bloatware we call games now. Software has plateaud, and as such hardware innovations no longer really exist, only gimmicks and such. That's why the switch succeeded where it's competitors failed, it pushed the market forward in a direction that continued to make a difference: Convenience. If the other companies were smart, they'd follow suit. Unfortunately they don't have the exclusives to back it up.

The PS5 controller is way better than you give it credit for, you're right in saying that unfortunately not a lot of games support its features but when they do it is usually a pretty great experience. It's priced the same as the Xbox controller so you really are better off getting a PS5 controller, touchpad can also be convenient if you play PC games on your TV as it functions as a mouse.

💯 Also let's not forget that Sony has jacked up the price of the PS5 Pro to 800 € being a 180 USD difference to the U.S (mounting to 1200+ €) and that Microsoft has launched Arkane and the guys who made Hi-Fi Rush, Ghostwire Tokyo and The Evil Within while they keep 343 and Bethesda. I had a seriesS and sold it to buy a gaming monitor for my new PC setup. Best decision I ever made! The series S is such a scam!! The games are overpriced and even if ur going to use Gamepass, you only have like 800GB of storage, AND GET THIS, if you use an external Hard-drive for more space, then each time u wanna play a game on said drive, you must COPY THE DAMN GAME OVER TO THE SSD and juggle games around!!! Well, The Nintendo Switch has sold more consoles than any other console in recent years. In fact there’s only two consoles that sold more consoles than The Nintendo Switch has, and one of them is also a Nintendo Console known as The Nintendo DS, the other one is The Sony PlayStation 2. Plus the hybrid console where it’s both a console and a portable console in the same package. My only regret is that I didn’t get the Switch earlier.

I bought a PS5 on top of the PC that I bought for over a grand. I didn't want to go half measures, so I bought a PC for about $1500. Basically, I wanted to play anything that came out for the next five years at least in 1080p. I'm playing new releases without worrying about if I can run them. Meanwhile, the PS5... I play 1 game on my PS5, Mortal Kombat 1. This is because Warner Bros' PC ports are dreadful and even Mortal Kombat X can throw an absolute fit on good PCs, if particle effects are even mentioned. I don't really even like MK1 all that much, MK11 was so much better but I'm kind of seeing my investment through with MK1 before adding Warner Bros to my list of 'do not buy' publishers. Honestly, this is the first console generation, I've ever lived through, in which I've not touched my current gen machine for weeks or even months on end. I actually went through three PS2s, because I played them so much that they died of exhaustion in the space of six years. Meanwhile, my PS5 looks like it was just unboxed. Oh and the memory on the PS5 is dreadful. I can have three games on it at a time. Who in God's name gave that thing such a pathetic hard drive, when every game is 100GB, at minimum? At least I'll save money, next console generation, because I'm sure as hell not buying a PS6 or an Xbox... whatever we're calling it.

10:20 Actually I can. Rare Replay is exclusive to X-Box consoles. It was never ported to Windows so you have to buy an X-Box to play it. Though it really shouldn't count since it was an X-Box One game that just so happens to be backwards compatible on Series X/S. But hey, the X-Box has one game, a very cool but also very niche collection of classic games from Rareware. X-Box fans stay winning. (Also I definitely didn't buy a used X-Box One just to play the XBLA port of Banjo Kazooie and literally no other game since I had a PC and Switch for years and Microsoft untimely got none of my money since I bought bought both second hand. I am also definitely not angry over having a $150 dollar paperweight of a console siting in my basement just because Microsoft refused or forgot to port this one game to Windows even though they did the same for all there other games. But hey, it was all worth it for that fantastic X-Box ecosystem)

9:03 Not exactly the same, they just need to have some level of parity between the two boxes. For example, Jedi Survivor on Series S doesn't have a performance mode, it only runs at 30 fps. The Series' X on the other hand does have a performance mode and the quality mode. Essentially, the Series S version of a release needs to be content complete when compared to the Series X. That in some cases has caused some devs to cut back on some ideas because they know that they'll have to release it on an underpowered machine if they want to release it on Xbox.

A Base PS5, which you can usually get for about $350 used and $500 new, outperforms any PC you can get or build for below $800. It's a good deal and is definitely not on the same level as the last gen. It's a good option for people who aren't willing to fork out the extra money or who just want a more streamlined experience. I mainly play on PC but a lot of people don't want to deal with the extra hassle and potential issues.

120fps is possible but would look like crap. As a developer, you have to compromise a lot more to hit 60fpa, mesh interaction, effects, world density and much more besides fidelity to hit 60fps. Speaking of the switch, although there are some great games that you will only play on it, it's just not worth it. Literally used one for 5 years now and ooh boy this quality suuuuuuuuuucks. The switch is one of the most cheapest looking and being thing i have seen in a console, the joy cons, the screen, the stand, the sound, EVERYTHING. My batch of joy cons broke after like... what a year? Also the replay value of most of these games is just not worth it, it's not a Wii that had great games that were keeping you in for a longer time and was great for casuals and it's not a PS4 meant for actual gamers that wanted to play a good title. TL;DR buy a PC and you'll forget what the switch even is (happened over here lol)

The reason why is the culture war. Developers need feedback and feedback loops. Even when gaming was niche/subculture this was important. The collectivist Japanese culture allows developers to make political and deeply spiritual games without backlash and focus up. And the anticapitalist anti sink or swim support culture in Japanese nerd space's allows Japanese developers to take risks Developers that have to live this shit arent gonna put up with 4chan Incel style culture in gaming. And gamers aren't gonna out put with design by committee bullcrap. But the design by commitee goes away as soon gaming becomes a hobby of just having games with a cult following. The incel try hard types made the move first actually . Gaming was supposed to be for precious nerds. Then the former came in calling you a loser if you couldn't beat console ports of arcade coin suck buggy games in 90s and later on teabagging/f-bombs to point of light hazing (no issue with shit talking of any kind, including teabagging.
