In Fort Wayne Indiana. One can still see in some spots where the old interurban lines ran. Some of the old railroad sections that are no longer used and yet still visible have been replaced with multi purpose trails. Like one old railway along fernhill avenue between Lima Road and wells street. Even 2 different stations that people used to board trains or inter urban trolleys, one has been restored by the New Haven park department and the other one was restored, currently being used as a bike shop with clothing or other bike accessories, with canoe/kayak rental/sales

My family and I were there last summer (2022) after seeing your Mt Lawn Speedway video while returning home to Wisconsin from my Mother's funeral in Milton IN.

Great episode! I ran into a phantom bridge in Brown County on Bond cemetery road you may want to do a episode on. Not sure what the building was just beyond the Bond cemetery bridge but it was huge.

I live in Fort Wayne and work in Auburn, IN and we used to have an interurban around here. It's really interesting to try to spy where it used to run, as well as some other railroads that pulled up their tracks decades ago.

Because how the Automobile Culture tends to create a lot of major problems ranging from Social to Environment Problems, it will seem that our country will learn the importance of having alternative transportation between cities and towns. If anyone looks at any map our country as well as any states, we notice that some cities are major transportation hubs while seeming not to be.. The vast size of our country can allow a variety of transportation systems to co-exist. In reality at the present, the dominant form of transportation are automobiles. Unless we recognized the many problems cause by the dominance of the Automobile Culture, our country will find itself with more problems cause by the lack of other forms of transportation. There will always be a major need for cars and trucks. Yet the dependence on two methods of transportation continues to create a lot of problems which are avoidable.

Do you suppose Honeybee Line is in reference to the honeybees’ ability to make a straight “bee line” to a destination without regard to landmarks?

Thanks for posting. Have you ever done anything on the Chicago/New York air line? I don’t know if it was considered an inter urban railroad, but their vision was a line from Chicago to New York with no grade crossings. They made it from Gary In. To Laporte In. Before going bankrupt.

There's some information about it in George Hilton and John Due's book "The Electric Interurban Railway in America". The Wikipedia article on it is quite thorough as well.

Nice work. But I have to wonder, what is the point of posting things on private property that the public has no access to? Kinda goes against the whole idea right?

You can view the bridge within 50 fet from the Mt. Lawn Speedway but the former alignment is on private property.
