I'm not crying, you're crying! But seriously, this song still hits hard. I can't believe it's been 10 years. Sometimes I wonder whether anyone else even remembers TAI. They had a few popular songs, but I think they've been unfairly grouped in with all the similar, inferior bands that were around at the same time, so people seem to have mostly forgotten them. Crazy. Fast Times at Barrington High is STILL one of my all-time favorite albums. Every single track on it reminds me of early-2000s summers spent hanging out with friends and crushing on boys sporting emo kid bangs and band shirts. TAI epitomizes the sound of my early adolescence, when I first started to develop a musical taste that differed from that of my parents and peers. I remember having to change into my Black Parade Is Dead! tee shirt after I got to school because my mom hated it, hated the music I listened to and the clothes I liked to wear. That was a really special time in my life because I started to piece together my own unique sense of identity, experimenting with different styles and figuring out who I was, not who my parents or peers expected me to be. I greatly credit bands like The Academy Is... for helping me to find myself at a time when it really felt taboo to go against the grain and be myself.

I remember when my mother and I were listening to this song a few years ago... She thought it was a cover, "Because poor William is just too young to know pain like that!" I love my mom. :) She took me to so many of their concerts, and she jumped around with me when we got to meet Adam T. Siska. It's hard to be away from her, while I'm at college.

2021, i felt the lyrics in my life 💔 i can relate in terms of a relationship. It shows remorse feeling when a guy done something foolish to ends a serious romance with her. somebody that honestly love him. the guy misses her , admitting his mistakes and flaws, want's her back, but it's too late. she felt pain and brokenhearted, even won't talk anymore. using light of the lamp as a metaphore, they relationship were good times, but it after it happens, it's just wasnt there anymore .. it's over 💔
