I had called the Rings of Power, dollar for dollar, the worst show ever made. But at LEAST in ROP the characters had SOME motivation. ALL the 'GOOD' guys in ROP might have been horrible narcissists but at LEAST they didn't glorify murdering your adoptive father because your mom turned into a demonhost. ROP characters didn't say they were gonna turn themselves into the jedi to be with their sister then IMMEDIATELY proceed to fight, knock out, strip then abandon their UNCONSCIOUS sister in a forest full of man eating bugs. ROP characters didn't have a fake AZZ emotional scene then mind wipe their sister FOR NO REASON then run off with their new SITH Soy Boy. Technically this show is a nuclear waste fire but ethically is a nightmare. But its no surprise, considering the source.

A writer's job is to try to write a great story with no flaws. That is the goal. It is not an easy goal, but it is not impossible either. And of course one flaw in an otherwise great movie does not necessarily make a movie terrible. Different flaws weigh differently and how bad or good a movie is depends on those factors.

The whole lightsaber mood ring is such a giant plot hole it makes no damn sense at all. Any jedi that starts to fall should show it in their lightsaber. I get the concept, it makes some sense as Mace Wendu used Vapod which is an aggressive saber form that dances on the edge of the dark side, and red plus blue is purple. The problem is then Mace Wendu should have had the Jedi equivalent of internal affairs up his butt 24/7. It means when Anakin started to fall that his saber should have turned colors. While it's no defense of the show, the Jedi were not blameless for what happened on Brendock. They're on a supposedly uninhabited planet. Sol comes across a couple of girls who are soon after joined by an adult woman. Does he approach them and say, _"Hello there. My name is Sol. I'm with the Jedi order and we're here surveying this planet. Pleasure to meet you."_ as a normal person would? No, he instead hides behind a tree, follows them home, and when he can't get into their facility legitimately, scales a mountain and proceeds to sneak around their home spying on them. Later four Jedi show up who have hacked the elevator. In other words, another break in. Then Sol and Torbin scale the mountain and enter their home without consent for a third time. Who's to blame for what happens while the Jedi are in the compound is clearer, but the situation arose in the first place through shady behavior on the part of the Jedi which the witch coven felt threatened by.

Okay, but he saw the kids using the Force, which set off some alarm bells. He is aware of the Night Sisters so he feared he had stumbled across an evil cult brainwashing children. After all, horny lesbian mom was being very strict and angry in that scene. So he goes to check on them, and sees chief lesbian throw the kids to the ground during a Force training exercise, which in this alternate timeline, is illegal (apparently you can't train kids in the Force if you're not the Jedi, according to Trinity). So, since the Jedi are now just galactic police, they go in to do a welfare check, and the witches act like idiots, but the Jedi let that go. Sol goes to get Torbin when he later runs off, but then has a Force vision of the kids dying, and the elevator isn't working, so breaking in is the only way to enter. Basically, the Jedi were worried about kids being in an evil cult, and it turns out they were right, so I'm saying that, yes, they are blameless--if criminals engage in crime, which attracts the attention of the police, then they cannot blame the cops when the criminals start a shootout which they lose.

Yeah, the way they wrote the Jedi is passible only if "discovering the vergeance" is super important, like the galaxy will explode otherwise!!! Or maybe just that planet will explode. The witches won't answer the doorbell so the Jedi have to break in to warn them to evacuate the planet, they take it the wrong way, and it all goes south from there. There, I just randomly typed away and came up with a solution to one big plot hole. Why can't so-called professional writers put as much effort into their garbage to fix its problems? The script was nothing but problems. I don't think I've ever seen writing this bad and I've seen some really bad writing. Being both a Star Trek and Star Wars fan will do that. To cap it all off...the vergeance thing was never mentioned again so I guess it wasn't very important anyway.

It's terrible writing, and there's no justification to commit the combined act of FILICIDE and SUICIDE at any point (really). Sol acted on instinct, and he clearly did so to save Mae from filicide. But this was a jumbled AI like script with no talent or direction happening behind the camera. I think of Joss Whedon's Buffy, Angel and Firefly. How he made 2 Avengers movies and how he was always honing his craft to be a better producer, director and script writer... And then I think of LH phoning in this travesty... After reshoots..! I think the bit with Mae not thinking to use the Force to kill is kind of a stunted point, because I personally think it shouldn't have been that easy to kill a Jedi Master with the Force with what we know about how effective the Force is on Force users. Mae couldn't do anything to Torbin when he was just floating there doing whatever he was doing, and you would think someone trained to use the Force is also resistant to it to some extent, let alone a Master. On the other hand, Osha basically got a free kill out of Sol, because Sol let it happen, but somehow Smilo thinks that's the way to do it? Just hope you have an emotional connection to a Master that renders them unable to really fight back and kill them for free with the Force? I understand the idea of using the Force offensively and it being your weapon/ally/whatever, but literally the only reason Osha was able to kill Sol with the Force in that scenario was because he let it happen. In any of the other cases where Smilo wanted Mae to kill the other Masters (minus Torbin, since I guess his PTSD made him suicidal), the Force choke alone wouldn't have been the play because they would have just done something to stop it. This is especially fucked up, because she was expected to eventually fight Sol, who was also holding his own at worst and blatantly winning at best against Smilo himself, and Indara was killed by a cheap shot (which, honestly, I don't think is even reasonable in of itself).

No one knew this woman could do such a thing, because there was no reason for her to thanks to them not having any enemies to prove what she was doing was safe! 3. Not one witch stepped forward to proclaim Sol and Mae were safe from Anasea's smokey form, but stood back and watch as a man who doesn't know their customs and powers become terrified at the sight of a smoke demon attacking a child! Mae holds no accountability for locking her entire clan inside a freaking fortress, set it on fire and proudly proclaim no one could get in or out. Osha and Sol's relationship needed more time to develop since from the moment they met, it's been like what, three days? If they met in the past, a little more showing could've been nice and having Osha claiming she use to be a part of the Order, while never showing any evidence of this was more of an excuse for these balls of lint to give her all the force powers she needs to be "powerful" without proof of training.
