Okay. As one reviewer said this plot had more hokes in it than Jecki (referencing the time Jecki Lon coot stabbed three tines in he lightsaber fight with Qimir). However I never saw "Squid Game," so this show was my introduction to Lee Jung-jae, and despite the poor writing, his acting and charisma made really want to see more of him in a better project. For that, I'm grateful. BTW somebody made me realize how truly bad Sol's death was by pointing out that when he tells Osha it's okay, he's effectively saying it's okay for her to go to he Dark Side and become a murderer and is abandoning her to have no "family" except a couple of hate driven murderers who will surely be a healthy influence.

So Anakin Skywalker got groomed and manipulated by Emperor Palpatine into betraying the Jedi and going to the Dark Side. As Darth Vader, he brought about galactic genocide, slaughtered children, choked the woman he loved into unconsciousness when she tried to stop him, he turned against his best friend, he lost his limbs, he got burned alive by lava and left on a hellish planet to rot away like burning trash, only to be rescued by the very man that used him, and was forced to be on life-support inside a black armor suit for the rest of his existence. He blew up entire planets full of innocent people, killed the rebels in charge of stealing the plans for the Death Star, continued killing dozens of people, Force-strangled one of his own henchmen, killed his former best friend in front of his own son Luke, sliced off said son's hand and revealed seconds later that he was his father, and continued doing the Empire's dirty work until Luke convinced him to go back to the side of good. When Palpatine tried to goad Luke into turning to the dark side, all while forcing him watch his own friends die, Luke refused to give in to his negative emotions until Vader provoked him by threatening to go after his sister Leia. Vader was defeated by Luke, but even after everything he had done, Luke STILL refused to kill his own father, prompting Palpatine to try to kill Luke himself only for Vader to redeem himself at the last moments of his life, killing the Emperor even while he was spitting Force lightning out of his fingers, electrocuting himself in the process. Despite Palpatine's manipulations and his horrific actions as Darth Vader, the dude ended up dying as Anakin Skywalker. There is nothing about the tragedy of Anakin Skywalker that is "positive corruption". There is nothing positive about the Dark Side of the Force. It's like calling the One Ring "positive corruption". It's like a drug, addicting and seductive (and not in the sexual way like Headland foolishly misinterpreted it as). It slowly eats away at you and corrupts you, turning you against the people you would normally love, and transforming you physically and mentally into the very worst shell of yourself, and all while lying to you that THAT is your true self and who you're meant to be, and those that are trying to stop you from giving in to the dark side are only hindering you. So to see Leslye Headland glorifying and romanticizing corruption itself is just disturbing. I bet if Osha and Mae had been two brothers, while Smilo Ren had been a woman, it wouldn't be considered a "positive corruption arc" to her, but "toxic masculinity".

My biggest gripe (out of many) was the way it was shot. Very little camera movement, always the same framing and zoom depending on the number of characters and nearly always at the same level. It was shot like a daytime soap and written about half as well as those boring, repetitive shows. Nearly every shot is flat, undynamic and dull. Like the show itself... Lifeless.

It’s a Sith-centric story. Obviously it would be anti-Jedi. The problem is the show sucks. Darth Bane trilogy, Darth Plagueis novel were arguable anti-Jedi and they worked because they were well-written from a Sith perspective.

For what it's worth, Headland said that the twins are not as powerful as Anakin, that Anakin is still the Chosen One. She said that their mother (no, not KK) had help (Horn-head mother, "What will the Jedi do when they find out how you created them!", is Plagues the "how"?) and that the Force split them in half in the womb, that the Force didn't create them... You wonder if the Jedi know what a Sith is because no one seems to recognize Ezra as a Sith. He didn't even say he was a Sith; he said the Jedi might *call* him a Sith. Sad, it was supposed to be about the Sith, and was instead about...actually, I have no idea what the series was about.... P.S., Sol was done dirty

I think Plagueis being present is more catastrophic for the canon and the prequels and OG's to the point that they might as well not even be canon themselves. And this is because during this period he should only be his teen's; not even a sith yet! As well as well as his future master, Darth Tenebrous being thrown away means he'll never even become a sith! Also as well is that Tenebrous should only be an apprentice to a twi'lek sith! Which means during this period the two current sith are not even haman! Meaning that qimir & osha are both retcon conon some more! These two factors alone means that provoking the force to create anakin in response to Plagueis attempt, would never occure! let alone him even living to 32bby, as he is depicted in his advanced ages already, Palpatine would never become Sidious, which means no maul, no Anakin, no duel of the fates, no Clone wars, no order 66, no rise of the empire! No Luke & leia! No battle of Yavin and No Vader! I fucking despise this show!!!!

They think memberberries will be enough to artificially inflate their numbers enough to ‘legitimize’ a S2. I try not to look at the worst in people, but I can’t help but only see their vitriolic glee at defacing yet another aspect of Lore. “Evil cannot create, only corrupt.” -Tolkien. I completely agree with the ramifications of their ‘decision’. And another bit is that if Plagueis is half as intelligent as Lore says he is then he wouldn’t allow Smiley to get away with half of what he did. Letting someone run around pretending to be a Sith and attacking Jedi would bring too much unwanted attention to him. Not like he would’ve allowed any other Darksider wannabe to try to muscle around in a sandbox that’s rightfully his either. He would’ve even wiped out the lesbian cult himself for the lulz. As far as us real fans are concerned, this pile of rejection is nothing but what I like to call Trollfiction. Calling it fanfiction is an insult to fanfiction.

The whole Threads instead of the Force concept Is what got me freaking out. The Force Is balanced by the equation Power= corruption. Unless you have a proper (I said PROPER, Raye Palpatine Skywalker or Whatever) Mental training and the right discipline, they get dragged to the Dark Side. Easy right? Well, the Thread fumbles this up. It makes everyone, good or evil, the same. No more moral conflicts, discipline is Just an hindrance, and all of this for a concept brought up in three minutes and forgotten immediately.

This is a great review for all the 2nd generation fanguys and gals of Star Wars who grew up like I did: watching endless holiday re-runs on USA channel, back to back to back. We can all agree that watching from the comfort of home with interruptions of daily life distracting from this modern space-faring epic takes away from the OG fans who waited in line for days upon the initial trilogy theatre showings which were years apart. But for Pete's sake (and that of the galaxy far far away) try to remember that this is a SCI-FANTASY FOR the KIDS!!! It's tough enough getting nearly a dozen hours of usable series footage while ensuring every scene is not somehow a violation of canon. Try imaging having to be great in full jedi, inter-specie regalia doing battle scenes WITH YOUNGLINGS! The introduced to Dathomir's wildlife, "Night Sisters" from the animated clone wars series and prior council corruption. We even got a slight operatic choir musical in. Hopefully you haters don't taint production into losing sight of what will likely be a revealing season 2 explaining the slagfest...I mean bantha bath which Disney clearly needs after such saber geldings. "The Apprentice" S2 anyone?

This is definitely a new female archetype that’s being developed by feminist writers, The Divine Feminine Backstory character. Jurassic Park added one in the newest film to explain where all the science came from. I’m not a Doctor Who watcher, but they added one to their lore. This dumb show has added the Witches to tutor Darth Plagueis. And there are others. In my tracking we now have… The Strong Female Character The Girl Boss The Mary Sue The Girl That’s The Key To Everything The Divine Feminine Backstory Character The Young Female STEM Prodigy And whatever the Velma / She Hulk character is. They are some kind of onscreen avatar for the female screen writers to yell at the audience, but I’m still figuring that one out.

Great review. The show was just so awful and exhausting. But the big thing for me is more on tone and posture of the studio and Headland: the production just radiates smug, self-satisfied, spiteful, arrogant mediocrity, in the way it debases canon, moral framework, and story. The interviews just make it worse. The lousy writing and characters are a symptom of the overall production approach and direction. It's confused and barely competent, so all execution is that and worse. Just consider this, who wins...? Who gets their way, after all the byplay, planet-hopping, and absurdity? Osha and Quim, two starstruck young serial killers, in thrall to the darkside, on the run, yet taking a tender moment in the sunset to appreciate their freedom to be evil, untrammeled by the oppressive jedi. Yep, the bad guys win. The good guys die or are silenced. And the remainder are profoundly compromised. Nice going, Leslye. It might be your story, but it's not Star Wars.

To see this as assulting cannon is absurd. Its fair to trash it but to take it seroiusly is foolish. I think all the cannon stuff is massively overblown. The writing criticism is valid, but stuff like Mundi not knowing about the Sith fits within cannon, because he doesn't learn about it. None of the jedi knows anything about what happened, and even the Green girl who knows the most thinks it was her jedi apprentice and not a sith doing it. So it all fits just fine. The star wars setting has over 3 billion habitable planets, so there being a vergence on one planet is entirely plausible and fits within cannon as well. There is nothing to suggest that anything involving Anakin was a once in 10,000 year event. The cannon is pretty mysterious about it and it is a not well understood thing, which is also true in this show. There are also force witches in the setting prior to this. So cannon wise, there is nothing wrong with the show.
