I know plenty of Star Wars fans, not being one myself, who gave the show a chance & it wasn't even the canon breaking stuff they disliked. It was the way characters would change motivations & the story meandered without any kind of tight direction. That turned most of them off long before the plot points began to bother them. As a woman myself, I'm so tired of other women shrieking about misogyny when criticized for poor performance or presentation. It's such a weak way to defend your incompetence or lack of capabilities by using your vaginal pass like that. i like that he said that about "Anakin" killing millions in collateral blowing up the deathstar: a weapon, named a "death star" designed offensively to force entire planets to submit to the empire or be destroyed and he lacks the moral compass to understand that wars are fought when peace can no longer be negotiated. But because the Pepsi vending machines guy was restocking that day, Anakin (he meant Luke) wasn't much better than the bad guys... who built a weapon not for deterrence but domination. Legally Luke would be in the clear for that attack as the Death Star was a military weapon and thus a legal target even if civilians were on board (unlikely outside of possible prisoners the Empire hadn’t executed yet which would be a mercy for them) isn’t going to make the destruction a war crime.

No they are bad movies (and I was the target audience for them), so was the original trilogy, star wars has ALWAYS been a bad series but, it was a fun bad series, despite being bad they were fun to watch and you had something of a good movie buried in them, the old expanded universe is a different story, stuff like the 2003 clone wars show, KOTOR games (and comics) and thrawn trilogy are excellent. Disney though? their stuff isn't even fun bad it's just garbage.

Why are they blaming the show's failure upon folk that didn't watch it? For several years now Disney has told that the series was no longer directed to the _legacy_ fans but the new _modern audience_ and they did in fact show up, issue is that said audience is way WAY smaller than the previous one and having the same base budget that they used for it does not turn a profit if it doesn't translate into equal or more ratings. So Disney accept the fact that the _new audience_ isn't profitable and goes back to the old one, or descales their production cost to accommodate the smaller new audience at the cost of less revenue. If anything blame said newer audience for not being as large as the old one. But if the folk complaining about the cancellation of the Acolyte were even _real_ Star Wars fans in the first place they would have realized that the series should have ended a long LONG time ago, and that all Disney has produced since they bought it is nothing more than retellings of previous better told stories or subvertions that break established canon.
