(#2 is spelled Furi, not Fury, for anyone having trouble finding it) Yes, I know that this video is late. I had a few games that I really wanted to play before I made this list though (some of which didn't make the cut), so it wound up taking more time than I anticipated to get together (not to mention I wanted to make the Titanfall 2 review before doing a top 10 or anything) Anyways, I decided to try and naturally transition from one game to another instead of doing the usual transition card thing that most people do in top 10 thingies. Thought it'd be a neat challenge for myself and it'd ensure that the video would flow more like a review, not entirely sure if it worked the way I wanted it to but ultimately I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Yes, I am a pretentious fuckass. Also, my friend Jake (who made the song in the outro) is releasing an EP on his Soundcloud soon, so please be sure to check him out and follow/whatever it is you do on Soundcloud: soundcloud.com/jake-bardin/ If you wanna follow me on twitter or anything (twitter.com/ShammyTV ) I tweet whenever I'm working on videos, it's a good way to lay to rest the fear of me being dead when I don't upload for nearly a month. EDIT: Here's the full list in order, since a few people have asked for it Games in the intro: Gigantic & Hyper Light Drifter 10 - ABZÛ 9 - SUPERHOT 8 - INSIDE 7 - DOOM 6 - Paladins 5 - Oxenfree 4 - Owlboy 3 - Dark Souls III 2 - Furi 1 - Titanfall 2

Tyto the Owl梟 one question, why owl? tyto the owl?
@tytotheowl29947 жыл бұрын
I would just call myself Tyto... But that's too short of a name. (Tyto originating from the scientific classification of the Barn Owl, Tyto Alba). I like owls, they are majestic, intimidating, and cool. They also represent wisdom and the inability to sleep at night so I feel like I can relate to some degree.... Also that kanji symbol at the end of my username and in my profile picture is ふくろう, (Fukurou), Japanese for owl. In short, I think owls are cool and I had to add something to the end of my name.

Hey shammy, don't usually leave comments on videos mostly because I believe they are utterly pointless and are never read, but I felt as if this video deserves it regardless if you read this or not. Firstly I'd like to say that the obvious gem of this video was your excellent transition between games, I lost track of the place but it felt as if a masterful script had been constructed and executed with uttermost precision! the sarcastic sometimes self-deprecating humor makes your videos stand out in a way I can't quite name, but feel as if I have some strong emotion for it, keep that up and you're golden. I've told as many of my friends around about your Chanel and the content you're producing, and even if it slow to release, quality is always over quantity, and a delayed video will eventually be amazing, where a rushed video will forever be bad. Ultimately what I'm trying to say is that you're reviving a sense of KZbin content that has long sense been absent! I'd love to see you reach a larger audience!so that maybe the shit of KZbin will have some real competition! Hell, if you do end up reading this I'd be awesome to see if you'd wanna talk over some messenger or shit, just comment back if you get around to it!

Okay this is actually the best top 10 list I've ever seen, mostly because you're not afraid to say what issues you have with games anywhere on the list, build nicely on suspense when you want, and the transitions were so smooth that more than once I didn't even realize you were going up on the list instead of continuing to talk about the previous game after giving an example (namely Oxenfree to Owlboy and Furi to titanfall 2)

Doom is a dumb fun kinda game. That's all it really ever was imo, so for people to be offended that you are more or less calling it what it is would be pretty ridiculous I was really impressed when I first played it and don't regret the purchase at all (probably mostly because I just like hoarding games) but I really can only go back to it once every... couple months or so, and only for that one time. Not to mention how obsolete the multiplayer was to the point that I'm not sure it was common knowledge that it even had any.

Y'know, this video is old and it's likely nobody will ever read this, but I fucking regret 2016. I spent that year playing Overwatch when I SHOULD have been playing Titanfall 2. This gonna be a long one and debatably valid as I'm comparing games in different subgenres, but they are both 6v6 FPSs, so close enough. TL:DR is that Overwatch is too focused on being pretty and having marketable characters while Titanfall 2 focuses on what is important, gameplay. I not too recently reinstalled Overwatch for some fun and... it's terrible! All it has going for it is pretty looks and quirky characters! Team balance is a total crapshoot, TTK is so low and SFX are so flat that fights feel more like lightshows, and the environments are just awful. Every map is more or less a funnel with like 1-3 predetermined flanking routes, and what few characters have movement systems other than basic walking and jumping have really nowhere to use them, as the maps aren't even slightly designed to support the mechanics. Overwatch in theory should be incredibly fast paced with its wide range of abilities, but the TTK, frustratingly long respawn timer, and pointless walking to get back to the action slow it to a crawl. Strip back the pretty, stylized graphics and cut out the character voices, and you truly have one of the blandest class based shooters ever. Titanfall 2 on the other hand has decently pretty, only slightly stylized graphics and some of the most repetitive dialogue ever ("THEY'RE TROIYEN TA CAWNER US") and yet manages to have a million times the charm. All of the maps are freeform and built around the movement system, anything and everything is a flanking route, the guns have a great punchy feel and sound, and TTK is so high that fights are over in an instant and the shape of the battle is constantly changing every second. With AI forces also contributing, not only do battles feel like they are MUCH larger than the 6v6 it really is, as well as respawning being pretty much instant, there are practically no lulls in the action. I haven't even mentioned the titans yet! Take Overwatch's ultimate system, and make it actually have an impact on the gameplay for more than 10 seconds. These huge walking death machines can make a player feel like they are unstoppable without making the players on foot feel overwhelmed. There are things only pilots alone can do, like rodeoing an enemy titan to steal a battery, causing damage to it, then rodeo a teammate's titan to add health, shields, and core charge. All titans have core abilities (ultimates for your ultimates, baby) that range from a giant laser that rips through enemies, firing hundreds of missiles, a lock-on chaingun, or even self-upgrading with permanent offensive and defensive boosts. This, wrapped up with one of the best singleplayer campaigns I have ever played, makes a truly great experience. This is the game I, along with everyone else, should have been playing. It deserves every award and accolade Overwatch got, and definitely deserves more of a following than it ended up with. By the way, thanks for that, EA. You sabotaging pieces of shit.

I've got to give you some props. I naively thought I could listen to this video in the background, but every time you transitioned between games it left me reeling how smoothly you did it. Despite it happening every time, I constantly expected each transition to be a small reference instead of the next game in the list. This video has added you to my list of notification subscriptions. So congrats, I guess, not that you really care.

I totally agree with paladins although I've never played the game. You shouldn't put a game down just because it displays similarities to a game that you like better and is more popular because almost nothing in this world is original anymore.its okay for games to have similar styles and gameplay it creates competition and diversity. TBH I hated this game cause I watched the from dunkey and thought it was just a lazy rip off. But the only reason I thought this was because overwatch was more popular and I didn't do any research which made me a dumb naive bandwagoner. Moral of the story: don't dismiss things just because they are similar to something that you like
@corvobasqez39367 жыл бұрын
I honestly can understand people looking at the surface and calling paladins a ripoff, but from an actual artist, half the characters in overwatch arent actually unique. A guy w a sheild whos a knight isnt groundbreaking. A swedish engineer, a japanese ninja esque character. Theyre honestly archetypes. A few things are questionable but its not the blatant cash grab people have made it out to be. I jokingly played w some friends and actually had fun.
@Loomskii7 жыл бұрын
Corvo Basqez People call Paladins a overwatch RIP off because it was a completely different game before overwatch was released and a lot of the characters are similar even though they aren't the first to make those ideas the fact that they changed the game and characters after overwatch was released. That's why people call it a clone

I doubt you'll see this through the wave of comments from your more popular videos, but regardless I find your content very entertaining because of the personality behind it. The jokes that don't fly over my head are witty and hilarious. The criticisms seem well thought out and legitimate (I say 'seem' because i haven't played most the games you've talked about but after watching i feel like i should play said game specifically to experience it for myself). And the overall production value that makes me giddy because I love good editing, I'm sure i'll come back to rewatch a few of the videos you've made after i finish binging your content for the first time. My point is you've managed to entertain me more than most games I have played, keep up the great work mate.

New to the channel, and I gotta say my favorite game of 2016 was DOOM because of how much FUN it was. It was a VIDEO GAME. It played to what I needed at the time and I think it deserves praise for being so well polished. Now, I've NEVER seen TItanfall 2 at #1 before and when I saw you list it there I thought to myself. "He's got a good point". For a AAA game, TItanfall 2 is a classic with amazing multiplayer and a SHOCKINGLY fantastic single player. I haven't seen a sequel improve the core game this much since Assassin's Creed 2 (which is AN AMAZING compliment). Good video, definitely subscribed and I can't wait to see what you got for this year!

When overwatch came out: This a first person shooter with colourful characters,I want see more games like that Paladins come out: It's a copypaste of the masterpiece overwatch. Blizzard fanboys,what could we expect from them?
@mobiuscoreindustries7 жыл бұрын
Manzanito :3 to be honest big companies do this all the time. they use advertisement to turn the heads of people around. COD never invented advanced mouvement, yet they managed through advertising to make some people believe that Titanfall was the one that banwagonned. same with paladins. their developers were the first to iterate on class based gameplay but the dude who shout the loudest is always the one winning even if he is not the first.
@scoutbite43344 жыл бұрын
@@mobiuscoreindustries Wha- But tf2- Please man after nine years of development-
@mobiuscoreindustries4 жыл бұрын
@@scoutbite4334 I mean, its not exactly in the same league. TF2 may be a class based shooter (and a good one at that) but it has a vastly diffrent system compare to these two. Fixed 9 clases with tons of equipement that can be swaped to either enhance a class role or drasticaly change it. Compare that to Overwatch of Paladins, where every class has a fixed set of weapons and abilities, and it is the adding of new class that is nessesary to expand their role. Big diffrence here, and i think also the reason why TF2 survived for this long. This flexibility in arsenal allows for a ton of gameplay alterations at relatively little cost of investement, and a lot more combinaison overall, meanwhile in PLD or OVW, you have a set of tools that are immovable and can only be expanded by a single didgit every now and then. It is also why TF2 was never going to work as a competitive game, because the meta is so vast and the sandbox is so large that it makes zero sense to treat it in any way other than the 12v12 clusterfuck public matches it was always suposed to be. Again, a critical mistake of Valve not understanding what made their game great, or rather, them losing sight of it after the rise of CSGO, a much more focused competitive shooter.
@scoutbite43344 жыл бұрын
@@mobiuscoreindustries yeah competitive tf2 has a lot of weapon bans and i agree that its completely different than overwatch and paladins, nut still it must have inspired them somehow

I actually played Paladins for over 42 hours and every time it's ended in unsatisfaction or frustration.
