Di2 junction/ charging box under the tip of the saddle. Single tie wrap around the bracket of the di2 to hold it in place. Cables are then routed down through the seatpost, super neat and you can also index or get it out of crash mode whilst you’re still riding the bike.

@@dannyroberts-clarkenerocoa5605 i had to search around for a while to find a seatpost that would be compatible (Bontrager xxx Carbon). i got the idea from seeing a couple of pro teams doing similar things (from memory mark cavendish used to hide his di2 box under the saddle, or atleast the mechanics did) i believe that they had just drilled a 5-6mm hole in the top of the seatpost to feed the cables through. i guess its easier to take that risk when its not coming out of your own pocket. i really need to stop starting sentences with i....

Thank you for the 3M tape idea. I have the same bars and I HATE the 3 screws to get to the charging. I wrote to vision asking why such a poor design to the extent that you can't even use a bar end charging port as the bars are not hollow. Their response was when they designed the bars, bar end charging wasnt an option. By the way kudos on the heat shrink on the front looks cleaner and more Aero. Loving your bike more and more with each one of your upgrades. 😀

Not sure if you had this answered, yet, but you can use a Wahoo on the Garmin mount. Just turn the mounting disc 90 degrees and shave a millimeter off the mounting disc openings. The Wahoo mounting blades are a bit wider, but otherwise the mount is identical after you twist it on. I’ve done this on several bikes and it works perfectly.

Steven Kruijswijk rode the oltre up stage 12 Alp D Huez in last years tour de france. Most of the riders from Lotto Jumbo preferred the oltre for climbing.

Had the same conversation with them at last year's TDU. From what I gathered they are offered the option of the specialisma for mountain stages, but never take it up. That could be a comment on the XR4, but could also simply be riders not wanting to change their bike and position for one stage.

Hey Chris - love your work - entertaining and a bit nerdy, I like that. How would you compare 1) the XR4 to the Noah SL and your throughs on etap v Dura ace Di2. And do the brake cables you are running improve braking - would they improve all rim brakes Cheers Anthony

So love Celeste green, the ultimate bike colour, so much so I had to get a Bianchi, great ride. Beats my Cervelo I lovingly built using bargain seconds from fleabay. Great video as always, in fact they just get better. What’s your views on tyre pressures, especially with the contis you tested?
@ChrisMillerCycling
@ChrisMillerCycling 5 жыл бұрын
TAC, it’s funny some people hate the colour, I’m certainly not one of them. Tyre pressure, I’m a 80psi man on the clinchers. I may bump the tubulars up to 100, but only when I know the surface is pretty good.

Nice vid, 10mm change in seat height!?! That's huge! Bike fit in itself is a whole can of worms. I'm not suggesting jumping down that rabbit hole as it's all very personal. However I have a theory that one factor NRS riders vs average joes are far and away better (apart from minset, time, training, yadda yadda) is ability to ride with a greater tolerance in bike fit. i.e greater variance in position, like seat height +-5mm whereas some people move the seat height 1-2mm and it's like power off/on. I'd be curios if you'd ask the boys whether they have to have a position dialed to the mm, or if they can jump on any bike, get it roughly right and smash 400+ watts for 20 minutes. Cheers.
@ChrisMillerCycling
@ChrisMillerCycling 5 жыл бұрын
Awesome comment mate and I’ll put it on the list for VLOGs we will have to do this year. Anecdotally having just gone through getting the new bikes for the new riders I can tell you half of them were exact in their requests for every last detail, while the other half, I honesty reckon we could have got them a bikes 2 sizes out and they wouldn’t have noticed/cared.
@Dvlnerocoach
@Dvlnerocoach 5 жыл бұрын
Hey John, as you say bike fit is a big can of worms. I will quickly answer a couple of questions. Bike fit is highly individual one thing that works for one person may not work for another person. So with respect to nrs riders fit compared to average Joe's. You will be hard pressed to find someone in the nrs (even more so pro peleton) with an upright position on the bike. Back end may change for comfort but everyone is decently low at the front. In the end aerodynamics is so important you just can't be catching too much wind. Generally this means a slightly smaller frame and longer stem to have a smaller head tube but still be long. With respect to changes at the back end changing watts massively, I am abealiver that this is in the riders head (if it's 1-2mm) wear to the cleats or different socks even different bibs all have different thickness which can account for a mm or 2. So you just won't notice these tiny changes. When you are getting up to half a cm to a cm of change then it can be quite significant and might change power output but usually over a week or so people will adapt to this new position (some people instantly). Moral of the story there don't stress if it's a mm out. Measurement error is probsbly more than that anyway.

@chrismiller Would you get this bike in 2024? I have seen it around 2200 euro 2nd hand but im abit worried about the rim brakes and disc brake version is to expensive for me. also unsure about tire clearance. Would you say get this bike or go for the oltre race model that comes with the disc brake?

Can you elaborate on the shrink wrap/Jagwire solution? I'm having similar issues on my Venge with integrated cabling. Did you just have to shrink wrap the cable housing or does Jagwire have better cable housing?
@ChrisMillerCycling
@ChrisMillerCycling 5 жыл бұрын
Hey GC, so I was having issues because the bend to my front brake was so dramatic that the brake cable was actually snapping. The jagwire seems to have solved the problem because the bed is smoother if that makes sense

Curious....on smaller climbs, Aero can have an advantage. You haven't considered running 50mm carbons? You should see better all round performance. You might find the 50mm say 100g heavier per wheel, but I think you will save watts and increase average speed marginally. (ummm...marginal gains right:)

So my cable was so short between where it came out of the Vision bars and went into the brake calliper, that getting the tension right was really difficult. I probably should have said it was something I couldn't do, rather it was something that seemed to cause more problems then it was worth .

Hey Chris would love to know a little more about the 1cm higher saddle position on your aero. I have the scultura(climbing) and the Team-E (Aero), I love riding the Team-E so much that was thinking of selling the scully, but on climbs the Team-E just doesnt feel right (I get more power out on climbs with the scully). How did you come to the conclusion of 1cm? Did you try different heights?

I took some video (well actually Toby took some video) of me seated whilst climbing and it became pretty obvious what needed to happen. The interesting part was the position I have adopted while climbing on the XR4 is a little lower at the front, I don’t know why this has happened, it’s just the way my body has adapted to the bike
