Let us not forget, Hughes Helicopter Inc. was the designer of this great machine in Culver City, Ca. The same building where the “ Spruce Goose” was constructed. It was flight tested in Carlsbad, CA and we lost many pilots on that program🙏🏻I was hired as a chase/ corporate pilot/ GTV operator in 1975 after I had returned from Vietnam. Engineering test pilots were from Army, Air Force, Navy and Marines. Many flew in WWll and Korea and Nam. 200 total folks total in flight test facility, one half mile from the beach. What a great group of patriots. It was a great program, not without its problems, T tail come to mind. I was the youngest pilot at the age of 26👨🏻‍✈️Great time in my life and I still miss it to this day, what great memories. 😅 I miss those 0500 sorties, as the sun rose when the air was calm and close to standard🙏🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

I was a tech with Sperry Flight Systems during that time. I remember Operation Stovepipe, where Sperry had to perform a 24 hr turnaround on any of their failed avionics and computer equipment on board. My group engineered the fire control systems on board. My specialty was the MRTU boxes.

I am glad that my country Poland has ordered 96 units of the latest version with the most upgraded configuration. Polish military will become second user of the apache helucopters in the world, obviously after the US military. All our apaches will go to one heavy division equiped in 366 units of M1A2 SEPv3 Abrams tanks. It is going to be the strongest armored division of NATO in Europe.

I was present at some firing practices at Ft. Hood years ago. And I'm here to tell you that, every once in a long while, a Hellfire can suddenly veer way off course -- like 90 degrees. I saw it and the pilots acknowledged it.

That helicopter looks angry, even when it’s in transport mode with the blades hold it back. It looks like it could attack you at any time and blow you up. It just has that bad ass vibe about it. That don’t mess with me look. You know what I mean? a wonderful piece of military hardware. One that all of America‘s enemies should fear.🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

They Cheyenne's daughter became the Queen of the battlefield but the MANPADs could be ending her reign sadly. Helicopters will be with us for a long time yet but soon it will only be civilian, missiles & drones are changing the game. Was lucky enough to tour Fort Bragg in 2000 and got to see more then 90 of them lined up on the flight line. Even more spectacular thou was seeing 2 dozen fly in close formation doing NOE flight, you barely heard them coming but when they went by you couldn't hear yourself. Amazing tour back them we were shown every part of the base except the SF training ground.

I'm from the UK & thank all the brave American Armed Forces for their dedication. Now to business. The Apache is truly the boogie man. Hiding not in the closet but behind a hill. Waiting to pounce on the unwary foe. Must make one boast for my country we actually nuked you twice. Obviously not in reality but you Americans invited us to try. Using Vulcan Bombers we did it twice. Hurrahhh to the RAF
