Wow! I've watched tons of nature travel videos, but this is among the best of the best. What is done incredibly well with the Go North series (and I watched the entire series in one sitting!) is that it was filmed by "amateurs" so does not have the "scripted" feel of a commercial production with staged acting, but still has all the qualities of a high end film. A masterpiece.

One of my favorite sections of the Alaska highway. My son lived in Fairbanks for seven years and I traveled up there every summer and stayed three months. I always stopped and stayed the night at Summit Lake in its beautiful campground. I have also ridden up to Deadhorse, AK on motorcycles twice and always stopped at Laird Hot Springs to soak after a day of riding. Enjoying your adventures and wish you many more.

Another fabulous episode! We are loving the series and especially seeing you all look so well, happy and healthy. The scenery is incredible and we love the narration and education. We're also incredibly impressed by how you're managing to drive so far, see and do so much, capture it all and put out these videos so frequently at the level of quality you do. We know how much work it takes. Can't wait for the next one! Miss you guys. Love n hugs Julie and Marc xo

Discovered your channel today with a you tube suggestion to watch them! I had to subscribe as they are wonderful! I always dreamed of visiting Alaska but in my old age, the odds of fulfilling that bucket list item is dimming. VIA YOU, I am able to see places that I never dreamed of. Your camera action is spectacular and shows a lot of love in the editing. That love of course stems from your relationship and care for each other. Just love what you are doing and thank you for sharing it all!

What an awesome video! The Alaskan Highway from Fort Nelson to Watson Lake is one of the most beautiful highways I've ever driven. The Dempster Highway is right up there in my top ten list alongside the Alaskan Highway. Just wish I thought to stop for those cinnamon buns! I'm one of the 100,000 people who posted signs at the Signpost Forest, so I'll be back there someday to see my sign again. I'll be sure to stop for cinnamon buns! Thanks for posting this video! It sure brought back memories!

Thanks for bringing back many memories of the Alcan Highway. As a Dutch/Australian I bought a 1969 VW campervan in San Francisco and drove it up to Alaska on that highway in 1988 when much of that road north of Fort Nelson was still muddy and temporary bridges were in place. Liard Hot Springs was incredible but also more rustic back then. After travelling all the roads of Alaska and going on the Dempster Highway all the way to Inuvik I turned around and drove that VW all the way to the bottom of South America through the Amazon and the amazing Andes Mountains and crossing over to do all of Europe only to have my van stolen in Seville Spain after enjoying three years of wonderful freedom and adventure. I had no insurance. Lost all except the memories! BTW I like your rig. Looks perfect for Alaska. I just subscribed to your channel and please do the same. Cheers from the Train Lord in South Australia

enjoyed watching your videos, especially the Dempster, top of the world highway, snowfields parkway. we did these back in 1995 in a GM truck, bought for $1200 canadian, with a fibreglass canopy, and a 2 inch thick foam mattress. Great travels, then in 1997 we drove up to Yellowknifie, same truck. used it in 1999, and 2005 and 2007. Our friend looked after it for us when we were home in New Zealand

MANY thanks for the ride!! Envy is far too small a word to describe how much I wish I could be there. AND, if you were not already aware, that mineral rich "glacial flour" you mentioned is also the reason for the unique blue colouring of so many mountain lakes and rivers; the sun's reflection (and refraction I suppose) off the minerals produce that stunning one-only colour. Sincere cheers from here!!

Your encounter with the pesky porcupines got me thinking. The next time you are in a town visit the hardware store and get yourself some Bear Spray. Basically it is pepper spray in a large container. That will teach them critters who is BOSS! Love your videos, please keep them coming!

I am so used to seeing you in a fifth wheel that it is interesting to see you in a 4X4 truck camper. I hope you locked your bikes to a tree or a leg of the sign or something when you went on the hike. It would be a bummer to come back and find somebody had helped themselves to your bikes. I just love staying overnight along a creek, brook, or water I can hear outside the RV. That is especially great in the morning as I awaken to such a soothing sound. I can’t believe they power that microwave relay station with a generator these days. A solar array and some lithium phosphate batteries in an electrically heated box would be much less maintenance and refueling. Can you imagine driving that road in a tanker truck loaded with fuel and motor oil in the winter? What spectacular views as you left the tower and showed us the scenery!! At 17:49, what is the display showing 20.5 degrees on the left, apparently the time of 10:43 towards the middle, then 18 degrees beside that, and then 20.0 degrees on the right? I doubt it is three sensors voting on the outside temperature in Celsius. If it is a TPMS, then only half the tire temperatures and no pressures are shown. You got me scratching my head! Thank you for the video. I really enjoyed it! I hope the rest of the trip is as rewarding as this appears to be!
@MortonsontheMove5 жыл бұрын
Thanks, yes we locked the bikes up :) The temps in the truck are the driver and passanger temps then the outside in the middle.

Such beautiful & minimally disturbed area of N. America. In the early 1970’s Dad drove us a short distance up the Alaskan Highway past Dawson Creek & the road had so many hairpin turns! He said he had helped build it during the war...I don’t know what he did, he was a mechanic in the RCAF, I suppose Aircraft or their mechanics were needed for it. Thanks for the amazing footage!

Tom and Caitlin, another great production; the background music really adds a lot to the film. A truly fine job of filming, narration and background music to support the film; ya just gotta enjoy it! I was surprised to see the woodland bison (?); didn't know they were up in that neck of the woods. I can appreciate the cold water, as I did some "light" white water rafting in the Sacramento, CA area several years back; yeah, it was snow melt and C-O-L--D -- feet and legs were numb! Another great video, I have driven that road a few times over the years both for work and play. Canada's northern territories, the Yukon, the North West Territories and Nunavut, although having many similar structures to the Provinces are still called Territories as the Federal government has an outsized influence on many things there.

@@MortonsontheMove I'll be headed to Alaska within the next few years. I have so many trips in my head, it's hard to figure out what one I want to take first. Last year was out west. This year is to Michigan (I know Caitlin Is from MI) I was born and raised in Grand Rapids. I want to take them all at once! The hot springs were great. When we stopped, there was great big moose off to the right of the board walk when you went back the pools. He was just laying in the water eating. That was quite the sight. I remember the Indian head mountain too. That was pretty cool. I look forward to more videos.
