Faker decides not to simply upload a list of cool cards from Maze of Millennia, and instead make a gameday decision on tackling a video of much larger scope, surely that isn't going to backfire?

Small correction, the single peaked at #34 while the album peaked at #35 in the U.S. Trying something a little different this video, just experimenting with things so please let me know if it works or what you guys think, till next time 🤙🤙

Your videos are great. Not only is the content really good and thought-provoking, but your humor is killer. No need for dramatic deliveries, fancy editing, just very well craft jokes.

Thank you so much, you've been around for a while and I appreciate your appreciation. Making videos is tough, especially when I'm just learning how to do it as I go, but it means a lot 🤙 I'll keep working of you keep watching.

From one content creator to another, I had an extremely similar realization with my own content. I completely relate to realizing I wouldn't watch my own content. It's why I made a rapid shift to my own videos to make something I wanted to watch. It's an interesting dilemma to have, and my own solution seems to be working finally. I really appreciate you realness on this subject, as it really isn't something you see seriously discussed online nowadays.

Yeah I'm extremely new to all of this, but in my first stint of video creation before school started I was making stuff I wasn't proud of because I assumed a daily upload schedule was the only way to grow a channel, it was an interesting experience. I'm glad you liked the video though, I'm trying for one a week to keep the consistency but not drop the quality, I do all the work myself so it's a pretty big time investment right now.

As long as every video continues to be a repost of the same Yugioh vs. Chess essay, I will stay subscribed.

Very nice video. Whenever I see you in my notifications, or see a video in my main page that shows I haven't watched recently, I almost always click on it. Unless one of my higher priority content creators is also there.

I take it the reflection on your previous videos mentioned in this one was what lead to privating most of them. Having watched all of draft duels, I certainly agree it was rough around the edges. And while the more analytical discussion-oriented videos seem to be performing far better, I'd like to encourage you to continue making videos involving duels and develop your skills in that area. I really think you could produce some top quality stuff if you give yourself the time to get to that point.

I definitely appreciate that, yeah I just wasn't really pleased with them, and it was difficult to get Luke to record them, which is why the tagline used to be "subscribe so Luke keeps recording these" lol, so I figured if I can't get him to record and I wasn't happy i might as well private them. That means a lot, I didn't really know anybody watched those, and I'll keep that in mind 🤙🤙 I appreciate ya.

Half the reason I started Ladder Legend was because getting a solid recording time for Draft Duel and N/R was tough, so I figured I'd start doing solo content, it's why I changed the channel description too lol.

Keep creating the content you actually get enjoyment too. Pressure from the unholy "algorithm" kills inspiration/motivation. Great vid!

Like I said in the vid, I think that's an advantage I have with not having/wanting to rely on KZbin for money, honestly for me it's just a time investment more than anything since I do all the work myself, I'm glad you enjoyed!

So does Duel Logs compete with Ambient ASMR and Lofi Beats types of channels? 🤔😅 Also, obligatory: "still better to work passionlessly in this field with even mediocre success than a boring 9-5 you loathe" - not to disregard the valid observations and criticisms of being a cog in the content machine, but I suppose to remind all of us to be humble and virtuous in whatever challenge we're personally dealing with. Good luck, glad I subbed yesterday due to the randomness of the algorithm (yes it was the Chess video) - looking forward to see more snappy and breezy "micro essay" videos alongside, I suppose, reviews, analysis and some gameplay?

I mean the Duel Logs is 100% self aware about how his content is used, that's why I chose to use him, and I am still telling myself I listen to the lofi 😅 I guess I would say that I think "being a cog in the content machine" is the same as having a 9-5, and maybe we just haven't reached the point of maturity of talking about it yet lol, digital media still has this "I'm on my own, let's eat Jello for breakfast" quality to it. I appreciate it deeply, I'm still figuring out what I want the channel to be, I do all the writing and editing so the format of the videos is warped around my ability, but I just built Bystial Orcust so maybe we'll have some gameplay 🤙🤙

I like your videos this way, i watched the power creep one a little while ago and it clicked with me, most KZbin Yugioh content is recycled Twitch streams and i'm not a big fan of that.

Basically, people want to get paid to play games and upload videos all day, but quickly realize it's still a job with demands and expectations (most of whom are independent contractors) and either capitulate to a grueling, daily upload schedule or burnout. This is why I don't want my hobby to be my job. It should be something I can enjoy to get away from work, but when I need to rely on it for paying bills, then eventually, I will resent it. Not to mention how there's way too many people in this space who are all vying for the same thing with the same content to the point where views are cannibalized. Not everyone gets to be a streamer or online influencer, and that's OK. We don't need more content creators. I wish more people were honest about that.

100% That was one of the best things I discovered when I started making videos, I work long weeks as a firefighter/AEMT and am compensated well, so there was never a fantasy of quitting my day job, but you learn so quickly that this isn't just playing games and uploading videos, thanks for your insightful comment 🤙🫡

youtube used to be fun with a prospect of making a living off of it. people mostly did this stuff for fun and that was what made youtube better back then. now, mostly all forms of videos or "content" (as they call it these days) are made with the intention of getting youtube rich and not having to work a real job. though, i would think having to keep up with the constant shifts in trends, popular subjects and so on would be very taxing on most people, plus the hours you'd have to spend making videos. it's no longer a fun pass time where people can make a decent living off of by dropping a lower production video once or twice a week, youtube has turned into the new television industry in a way. most of these channels out there probably have a fairly large cost to run, almost like a tv station i would imagine. i see channels dropping multiple hour plus long videos a week, and there is no way they can be researching and all knowing about the stuff they are talking about within just a week. plus the editing of longer form videos can take a while too, let alone doing two in one week. in short, toobz is a production now, no longer a little side hobby people do for fun. i miss the golden era of youtube, felt more personable, not being bombarded with sponsorship shilling, asking for likes and comments and all that.

Good comment, it's insane the amount of effort KZbin takes, especially in the beginning when you're doing everything yourself. There is no "ez KZbin rich" that's for sure. I don't blame people for wanting to work a job where they're their own boss, especially if they love digital media, but the fantasy of playing video games for a living is just that, a fantasy.
