Got my 2020 two years ago, after having had two Speed Triple (last one a '17 R). Three 1050 in a row...and I still don't feel the need of trying something else. What an engine. I am sure that I will try something different in the future, but the Tiger will remain in my garage. With this bike you won't miss anything!

5:40 the screen is locked with springs. If you’d had a closer look you wold have seen that you just have to push the screen against the wind and then pull it up or down and it will lock itself in place as you release. That’s not dodgy, that is actually quite smart and there is no need to wiggle... 🙄

Very good review. I have one exactly same year and colour the one you tested. It is possible to change the riding mode on the fly. You press the mode button until the mode you want to change to flashes in the dash, and then you hold the clutch lever for 2 seconds. I also agree the wet mode is way too similar to the tour mode. It's almost useless. I tested it the first day and never used it again.

The lack of a center stand as original is a pain, ended up buying an aftermarket one for mine. The radiator started leaking on mine few weeks back, not from any road damage as its protected, less than 10k on the bike bloody annoying, a replacement from triumph would cost a fortune, couldn't find an aftermarket one for this model, loads for the early model.

I test rode one of these yesterday and really enjoyed it. It feels much more powerful than 126BHP. I'm very tempted to buy one but am worried i will miss my ZZR1400. I want something a bit lighter and more touring focused but still fun to ride. The only thing i didn't like about it was also the location of the mode button!

Got a 2020 model…… brill bike but can’t live with the wind noise at the higher enjoyable speed .. tried a power screen and new helmet but little to no difference … Otherwise brill.. the sport mode is addictive, response and power from it are great …
@PaulCopp2 жыл бұрын
Had the earlier model, loved the engine, BUT awful buffeting off the screen, and very top heavy. Tried an MRA screen, spent ages with wool taped to the top to try and sort the buffeting, but couldn't cure it. Also having switchgear on the fairing and speedo is dangerous IMHO. Eventually traded for a GS1200 and haven't regretted it for a second, the GS may not have the same engine feel, BUT is is way more refined in every sense and it goes off road too! Screen is brilliant and all day comfortable, there is a reason there are so many on the road. I have a retro triumph and love it, but my Tiger Sport 1050 was just not for me.

Hi. great review. I am about to sell my Street triple to buy something more comfortable and powerful lol. like the 1000xr but pricey so am considering this, the versys 1000, tracer 900 or multistrada 950. what would you recommend as I doubt I will get to try all of them before buying. Thanks.

Liam Byrne on your budget I'd go with either the 1050 or the Versys, both great bikes! haven't been on the new multi 950, I'd imagine it's pretty good too. So many great bikes out at the moment
@liambyrne17897 жыл бұрын
cheers mate....the 1050 is about 2k more than the versys over here (Gibraltar but sourcing from Spain)..not sure why to be honest might be the European. May be more viable to import from the UK do you reckon the 1050 is worth 2k more than the versys?

Nice review Shaun. If you get another look at it (as we don't have them in the USA yet) I'm wondering if the screen picks up on the same holes as the original Tiger 1050? Maybe I can upgrade with the "winglets" etc. Thoughts?
@thelikeablerider88008 жыл бұрын
I've been asked this before, but wasn't something I looked at. From looking at photos the holes in the screen are obviously differnet, but the adjuster mechanism seems to use the same holes where the old screen is mounted.
@thelikeablerider88008 жыл бұрын
Just asked a friend of mine for you, who's just bought this bike. He says the winglets use the mounting holes of the old screen, but the new screen has a separate, and new mounting postion in the middle. He seems to think it would be possible, but wouldn't be a straight swop! I'd imagine adding the winglets wouldn't be an issue at all, as they use the same holes. Hope that helps you out👍

Triumph have come a long way with the mode button on the dash, BMW, Yamaha, KTM all on the handlebars, much safer while riding. Hello.
@thelikeablerider88007 жыл бұрын
Frank Stocker Probably the worst place they could put it for changing on the fly!
@filthymcnastyazz6 жыл бұрын
Oh ffs
@mickeypopa6 жыл бұрын
I'd say it's the best place to put it, because you don't want to be faffing around the handlebar while riding at night in the rain and accidentally changing the riding mode. This way it's lit up on the dash and you have a clearly visible button with easy access to it without trying to find it in the dark with gloves on. It's one less thing to worry about. Besides, how often do you need to change riding modes on the fly? Just set it for the day and leave it be. If it starts raining - stop, put on your rain gear, change the mode and go. I get where you're coming from but you need to put yourself in manufacturer's shoes as well and look at it from their perspective. They have to think about all possible conditions this bike is going to be ridden in while you only care about having the easily accessible riding mode button for your test ride.

+LMR it's a viby bike for sure, but it's minimal and doesn't bother me, it bothers some more than others. Some have commented to say it isn't viby at all, but I would say that's inaccurate! I was difficult for me to get an honest answer from owners before I took it out....as I said it's definitely there. Yeah you need to take one out yourself to decide, I took it out three times to see if it could be lived with, which I can. The bike is so amazing that that minor thing can be lived with, there is really nothing els on the bike I don't like! when does one own the perfect bike?
