I had my Allurion balloon put in four weeks ago, and I think it is definitely the best decision I made. I’m on the NHS bariatric list for a bypass, but thought it made common sense to try the less invasive balloon first. So far I’ve lost 20lbs, which considering I couldn’t lose a single lb before is amazing. I don’t ever feel hungry. The one and only downside for me is difficulty getting comfortable to sleep. The first week was HARD, but it soon settled down. I’m not expecting bypass results from the balloon, but so far it’s very positive for me.

Allurion was the best decision I have ever made I am currently on Week 13 of the 16 week programme. I honestly cannot recommend it enough. I’ve currently lost nearly 4 and a half stone and I never believed this was possible. For me, this isn’t a quick fix to lose weight, it completely changes your mentality. I’ve worked really hard with my dietician which has changed my thought process around nutrition. I have also been working with a PT outside the Allurion Programme.The resources have been there in order to educate and inform me of my bad habits pre-balloon. I’d tried every other possible solution of weight loss and only managed 1 and a half stone previously before I got bored. Now I am totally focussed on keeping my great habits and mindset even when the balloon deflates.

They have the spatz3 balloon. It's for 12 months. But yes they have to put you to sleep with that one

I started seeing ad's for this showing up since im currently going through weight loss (ive lost 6kg in the past 2 1/2 months). I still have 25KG (55LB) to go. I was interested in looking at more on this since its non invasive and 16 weeks worth of weight loss (@1.2KG/week) is about what im targetting, but $8000 CAD 😮 Thats about $10k in my currency, and theres no insurance cover for it here unfortunately

Got mine done 4 months ago, it's not for everyone, definitely not me, only lost 3 kg just the first week due to forcibly eating soup only and suffering agonising stomach pain, afterwards it didn't help me lose weight, sure it stopped cravings but only mildly and I thought it would help me get fuller quick but didn't, even when I get cravings not sure if it's hunger or weird uncomfortable pain, I was even exercising and everything, so again, not for everyone, to me a waste of money and time and agony.

@luisafernandaferreira15 well basically the first 5 days were vomiting followed by severe stomach cramps( felt like blades were in my gut) Then for the next 4 months just didn't feel full but rather uncomfortable pain, I don't recommend it at all really.

In Australia, the gastric bypass surgery is from $14,000. From what I'm reading, the Allurion here costs around $7000 on average which is why I'm looking into it.

I find the whole concept appalling. Feeling full had never deterred me from overeating. The idea of stomach cramping & vomiting as acceptable seems to perpetuate eating disorder. Learning and changing unhealthy habits combined with low calorie intake, increased physical activity will be better in the long haul.

I don't think it makes the idea of vomiting and cramping acceptable? It's literally your body trying to reject a foreign object and then it stops as you get used to it (in the majority of patients) And they holistically worth with you to learn and change your unhealthy habits; the ballon itself sits in your stomach, reducing the size and helping pu know when you're full and kickstarting weight loss because you can't eat much.
