I feel like as an Australian it’s wild to me that things like Poundland and dollar tree exist and everything inside is a dollar, with have “2 dollar shops” here but things are actually 2 dollars or more, sometimes less, but typically old stock or cheaply made or knockoffs, I feel like the convenience factor is there for the idea of a whole store where everything is 2 dollars but the Aussie dollar is pretty worthless especially in the economic crisis we are having, way before the economic crisis you could find 2 dollar stores and most of the candy of small things at the front of shop where 2 dollars but that hasn’t been a thing since I was a kid, also they are all usually independently owned and not a chain brand, it’s a shame we never really had those stores here, at least that I’m aware of
