Great story! Reminds me of the old "Night Gallery" and "The Twilight Zone" series which always had a sudden "reveal" at the end that made you think "What just happened!?" then "Ahhhhh!"

well , a good reveal that make sense and just give a puzzle peace for a follow up 'epiloge' or such.. , ye this defo falls under that category neat work of the author not like in some movies where last moment reveal force you to not just recall each set of a whole 2+ hour movie and re-arrange their order in your head but also time span XD

Luzon gas ‘flammable as all hell, but inert in air.’ Well that makes absolutely no sense at fucking all. Flammable means that the material ‘oxidises and in doing so produces so much heat that it produces flames.’ To oxidise requires oxygen, it’s in the name oxidise even. Just plug the fucker with a depleted uranium bullet or a zirconium bullet and make sure the impact is at least above 1400 km/h or 1400 fps and then as that bullet fractures the actual act of fracturing and the the subsequent layers of metallic crystal lattice peel/fracture off produces a high temp flash of between 6000°C and 10000°C for the zirconium bullet and it will drill through metals as it turns the target into plasma. Oh 10000°C is the actual temp of the surface of the sun. The uranium depleted bullets are what is fired from the Avenger 30mm canon in the A10 aircraft and it’s what the kinetic penetrators that tanks fire are made out of. We have known of this and the 5 metals that do this for 100 years. The metals have to be densifed to their max densities and near perfect crystal lattice to do this. For example… put pure zirconium and 10% tin in a metal cylinder and seal it in with no gaps inside. Heat it up to almost molten and squish it down allot. Cool it. Machine the steel container off. New container and heat and squish again. Machine the steel off again and machine your bullets. Fracture above 1400 km hour about 1.4 times the speed of sound minimum and the round kicks off. The zirconium produces more heat in the fracturing and continues to fracture on its own after the initial impact fracturing all the while producing fracture energy. The fractured zirconium flakes can also then burn if there is enough oxygen. The fracture energy and temp of zirconium is the highest for both of either zirconium or depleted uranium. Zirconium bullets when fired into a fuel tank enters the tank already fracturing and producing a white hot ball of fracturing pieces. The bullet part that enters the tank sucks all the earlier fracturing bits into the tank as well. The heat energy heats the fuel up so much that it explodes in a weird reaction that petroleum has at high temps without oxygen. Burning it in air would be 100 times less violent a reaction. These fracturing metal bullets start producing their fracture the instant the first fracture happens and it’s done normally in way less than 100ms. It’s not like armour piercing exploding incendiary bullets like the Raufoss 50BMG bullet that initiates upon hitting a person but the initiating reaction haven’t reacted enough to explode (deflagration actually) and ignite the incendiary until it’s about 0.5 meters behind a person after goin* through them. So yeah DU and zirconium bul,ets are good.

@@TheRealTimeline True true and the story was good. It's just hard to suspend my disbelief without some sort of exo-suit or magic. Did you see the recent international swat competition? The all female team couldn't even propel themselves along the zip line. I wish stories with female leads would lean into the things that women are actually good at or the things that men can't do. Not being a badass action hero, running, jumping, climbing etc. That's the domain of men.

​@@TheRealTimeline I'm right there with you on that. And, it's fine for stories to take some liberties with reality. I mean we do come here for a bit of escapism. I'm just bored of this trope is all. Should women feature in these stories? Of course, go wild, do what you want. Should they be the gun slinging, ass kicking, Bolt level sprinting, pinnacle of the human species? Not without some tech assistance or other shenanigans.

Really, military sniper with a scope without anti reflection device. A bit of a stocking covering the large front lens or the better flat black honey comb type thing that stops angled light hitting the lens and only allowing light directly from the aimed location. So that’s a stupid bust. What else is going to be shit in this story. At,east get the basics correct.
