As a brit, I only ever really feel patriotic when viewing our nations past. Say what you will about the morality of it but in the words of Dave Chapelle - "don't judge a photograph because it wasn't taken today". All that aside, over the course of the two videos I've gone from feeling slightly scorned by the Americans basically mugging off the British to kick things off (knowing too how it ends of course), to now feeling like the American victory in this war was not only absolutely well deserved, due to intelligent strategy and British ineptitude, but also that the manner of the victory speaks so much to how present day America holds itself. Listing them would be mundane, but just thinking about the parallels is facinating
@Rivarya10 ай бұрын
The concept of “historical relevance” doesn’t make any sense when you’re talking about morales. Fun Fact: General von Steuben was one of the greatest military commanders of all time. The only reason why George Washington was able to hire him was because von Steuben was VERY openly gay and was kicked out of several European courts. America was the only one that accepted him. Also, he fell in love with the captain that acted as his translator at Valley Forge and, after the war, hired the captain as his "assistant".

I mean we saved them in ww1, ww2, and Indochina (didn't win tho), granted 150 years later but it's the thought that counts.

@@abunchofiguanaswithinterne2186 France wasnt saved by anybody in WW1, France left Indochine because it was considered a total waste of money so American involvement, and latter loss, there hasnt benefited France in any way. The US did help a lot France on WW2 so yeah I guess it counts as returning the favor. But still you could argue that the contribution wasnt equal since the US wouldnt even exists without French help while France probably wouldnt have disapeared from the map.

a bunch of iguanas with internet acces We saved France in WWI and WWII, the British was fine they had a superior Navy and Air Force and the only threat to them was ground combat and the bombing of London, but even then the British were holding their own.
