I mean this in the most serious way possible as someone who was won multiple battles on depression, go seek medical treatment. If you break your arm, you get it fixed, mental health is the equivalent to physical health, ignoring a broke bone could lead to serious health complications, ignoring mental health problems can lead to really serious problems as well. Please go and get help.

I agree 💯 with that. I'm damn near 40 and have 4 kids. But, I still always go back to metal, no matter what else I may be into at the time. And, to all the younger people who keep saying how Amity Affliction has helped them. That's good and all. But, believe me, life gets better. I used to think about things like taking myself out and other dark and toxic thoughts. But, as long as you make good choices and are willing to strive for the things you want, everything will work out. Although, to keep it honest, it almost NEVER works out exactly how you want. Then looking at what is in front of you, you'll realize that you never knew what you truly wanted anyway. In conclusion, you are stronger than you think. Things are gonna be ok. I promise.

i’ll keep this as brief as possible. i found this song the instant i was released from the psych ward a year ago. in fact, it was released while i was in, and had no access to the outside world. this was one of the first things i found, being released back into the world again, and was like a breath of fresh air for me. it immediately became my “this is why i’m still alive” song. i come back and listen frequently whenever i need to remind myself of why i’m still here, and why i’ll never let myself go through with what i once found to be inevitable. thank you for your time.

Also check out Hell, by Stoneside. Check out God Complex, by Seven. Lastly check out the song Parted Ways, by fellow Aussie's Pridelands....it has the absolute most powerful chorus in the genre. Then check out the multifaceted song Susi, by Atlas. Laslty check out Synthetic Zion, by fellow Aussie's Dawn Heist. Good night and good luck.

I came home and I turned on pandora to play some music(the amity affliction channel) and the 3rd song that comes on and starts to play while I'm trying work myself up to pulling the trigger is this song. I don't know why but the words always running but the running doesn't help just resonated deeply. I immediately came to youtube to play this song and listen more and idk what it is. My brother passed away in April of 2019. He was my best friend. We had lost our brother 6 years before and we just had each other... he was only 27.. he loved Amity Affliction and funny enough me and him were allergic to bleach. Anyway I just wanted to say your music leaves very good memories with my brother❤

Music is beautiful; but its so much more when you hear stories like this and millions of others, and how it pulls you from a negative head space and into the light. Condolences to you and your family.

When they say "Soak me in Bleach", does that mean "Hit the reset button, cleanse me of all the bulls**t"? That's what I'm getting from it. Would love to hear what all others are thinking.

Ryak1989 if you go to Apple Music and look at the description of the album it has Joel explaining what each song is about. It’s pretty cool to read actually and I feel gives more power to these songs

The way I take it, when he says "turn me inside out, soak me in bleach," yes, every pain that he's feeling he wants to be cleansed of, he wants to finally be void of any negative emotion. Takes something as harsh as bleach to get rid of it all, but bleach ironically hurts you. I kind of left it up to my own imagination and didn't research if he ever relayed his own meaning of the lyrics, but I interpreted it as he'd rather feel the physical pain of healing and making shit go away than endure the internal emotional pain that sits deep within, ya know? Not necessarily that he wants to hurt himself, but that he'll do whatever it takes to start over maybe? I don't have a way with words but it really gets you thinking, what exactly do you do to fix an invisible wound? When he says "don't know what to do with all of these feelings" it hits hard if you can relate.
@jeffsnyder91264 жыл бұрын
I take it as someone else tearing you down to make you “pure, clean, or righteous” in their eyes. I read he said soak me in bleach to a reporter who accused him of using another band’s lyrics after the lead singer died. He was using it to honor him but I guess she thought he was trying to profit. He was the dreamer and it died because people always think the worse of you and they try to tear you down! When you become successful you’ll be surprised who tries to tear you down and control you!!

Definitely comes from Kurt Cobain’s (Nirvana) lyric from “come as you are”. And that’s the name of the documentary about the coverup of his death.
