It’s incredible how much educational content is being created by experts, especially in the Numismatics scene. Really appreciate what both of you guys are doing

Another enjoyable pod cast 😊. I had to laugh at your comment "Legionary denarii would appeal to collectors of American coins" 😂. Collecting a modern series of American coins by date isn't much different than collecting Legionary denarii which all look alike except for the legion number. Collectors of Legionary denarii are clearly more interested in ancient history than the beauty & style of ancient coins.

Great show, slides were giving Mike a hard time lol. Supposedly, differences in the legionary lettering like "IIII" instead of "IV" comes from Greek Celators not always being familiar with the Latin numerical system.

Nice. One day I will get to the Marc Antony denari. Will to keep an eye on the HJB Buy or Bid sales.

Good episode. It might have been good to mention the Legionary (LEG VI) issued by Marcus Aurelius and Lucius Verus for the 200th anniversary of Actium. They are doubly cool because by then the abbreviations ANT AVG used on the originals would be confusing since ANT might be mistaken for Antoninus and AVG then meant Augustus rather than Augur. Spelling out those words made sense in the second century AD. Recently there have been an increasing number of fake legionaries so everyone might be advised to buy only from trusted sources but that goes for any coins and they may not listen.

Great podcast especially with the Marc Antony legionary denarius! I am amazed that there are so many varieties of them. Although I have a few myself, I certainly learned something today. Keep up the good work!

Love it! I wonder if you'd do an educational bit on billon denarii? These seems to confuse me as it seems there are times when it should be silver but it's not or more debased than normal. There doesn't seem to be much clarity online.

Great podcast series! I’ve heard each one, some multiple times. Questions …, can you please explain the Parliament Collection (hoard) of Athenean Owls? Recent 5 years-ish find. Where was it found and what is there to know about this find?
@coinman.ancient6 ай бұрын
Any where from 30-70k coins. Not all Athens. Included metapontum as well. Most likely found in Turkey. No one knows exactly more details then that and this is all picked up by multiple sources and opinions.

Im still catching up, but have you done a spot on how HJB does their attribution cards? What info should be on there, the order so it is uniform and does paper and type of ink matter?
