Canon has a lot of good stories. Personally, having spent years reading about Legends, I don't want to let go of it while reading new material. I understand that no matter what, Legends still exists as a separate continuity so it's not like it's ever really gone but still. I sort of combine Canon and Legends stories (which works pre-Original Trilogy for the most part). For instance, I've combined the old Clone Wars microseries, the canon Clone Wars series, and both Canon & Legends novels/comics. Sometimes there are inconsistencies such as the Battle of Haruun Kal from Legends versus Canon and how Depa Billaba is comatose but the Legends version is without a doubt superior. Shatterpoint is one of the BEST Star Wars novels IMO and the fact that Canon utilized the concept of Depa Billaba fighting in the battle and then going comatose but decided against the WAY more compelling premise of the battle in the first place is a shame. I don't want to go too deep into spoilers because I HIGHLY recommend people read the novel, but the way Depa is rendered comatose is awesome and far more fascinating than simply getting beaten by General Grievous. And while that was sort of it for Depa in Legends, I like the idea of her going on to waking and training Kanan as opposed to just remaining in the coma and presumably getting slaughtered at the Temple. It took some fancy headcanon writing to make Shatterpoint work with the Canon stuff (I basically wrote a short fanfic to bridge most of the inconsistencies) but for me, I love the outcome. I'm also doing the same for all the Clone Wars comics and other canon things. For instance, the comics had an amazing run with Quinlan posing as an agent of Dooku's and struggling with his allegiance which later got pseudo-adapted into canon with that Quinlan Vos/Asajj Ventress novel that came out but they present a lot of issues that I'll need to work out. I know that sort of... trying to balance Canon/Legends stories isn't always possible and gets less feasible the more and more Canon material releases that ends up contradicting Legends elements but when that inevitably occurs. I may just ignore certain Legends stories in favor of the Canon stories if I find the Canon depiction of an event superior OR I'll consider the Legends story part of my headcanon and ignore the canon story. But whenever possible, I like to marry the two. It's all Star Wars and I love it all. That said, this basically becomes impossible post-ROTJ where things divert way too much. I've seen some people trying to make Ben Solo work alongside Jacen, Jaina, and Anakin Solo and oof... does that not work IMO but hey, the same way my system doesn't work for everyone I say, more power to them!

I wouldn't exactly say this is "living" past death, so much as "leaving a mark", or a tainted fingerprint. I *love* the idea that unlimited power and immortality is something that Sith can't achieve, specifically because that's what they crave, and what they're working towards when they do such terrible things. It's a perfect twist of irony. And it's a prize that even the Jedi can't achieve, except for a select few, for exactly the opposite reasons. At the same time, I still like the idea that Sith can leave behind some kind of "imprint", even if it isn't really their consciousness. I like to think that their emotions and power have become so intertwined and so terribly strong, that it can outlive both their physical bodies and their consciousness - as if their spirits had somehow lived on.

Easy, it's been speculated that the darkside resides in Darth Vaders helmet, the one Kylo has. And it could be showing him visions. Seems highly similar to the ST. Plus, objects retain remnants of it's history: Luke's lightsaber.
@GAdmThrawn6 жыл бұрын
One, it's been speculated by fans. That doesn't mean that it's fact. There's been no indication that is what the helmet is for. It's just as likely that the helmet is just that: a helmet that Kylo Ren has been obsessing over and has been talking to (until recently). Two, while an object may retain a psychometric link to a person or thing only those who are trained or gifted are able to read them. Quinlan Vos is a great example of a person who was not only gifted with the ability but was trained to use it as a means to track down wanted criminals or be a spy. If Luke's lightsaber retained remnants of its history then why did Rey see her past (being abandoned on Jakku) and her future (the forest on Starkiller Base and seeing Kylo Ren there)? It's more likely that she experienced a Force vision through the lightsaber as the Force has the ability to do that. "Through the Force, other places you will see: the future, the past, old friends long gone." - Yoda, ESB.

Interesting that people are calling it a "Mask", rather than a helmet, and its got me wondering how this might have started in the real world. Interesting that, in TLJ, Snoke refers to Kylo Ren as a child "in a Mask". It might be telling that a "helmet" connotes headwear that is protective, whereas "mask" connotes hiding something. Maybe, Snoke thought of it as a mask for a reason? Momen's helmet was also a centerpiece in Palpatine's collection of artifacts, similar to the way Vader's helmet has become a centerpiece for Kylo Ren, who communicates with it/draws guidance from it as Palpatine and Vader did Momen's. Interesting, even if not relevant, that the real world name, Momen, has Arabic roots meaning believer, one who believes or who is faithful. Also, the condition of Lord Momen's helmet, as depicted in most of the artwork, is heavily battle scarred - much like Snoke's head? In some of the comic art, Momen's collar style is also similar to Snoke's. Maybe they share a style sense? Draw from this what you will. If all this stuff is coming together in the films, it could be rather interesting.

The helm is somewhat reminiscent of the one worn by Kylo Ren. Momin, for all his heresy, was certainly a trend setter as well as a grand designer. What other objects of his creation lie in wait across the galaxy? And considering how his 'mask' pops up so often in the canon nowadays, is it only a matter of time before we see a hero, or villain, or some damned odd fool poking around where they shouldn't be, dons Momins legacy on the big or small screen?

You just described a force ghosts after saying you like the idea that they can't become Force ghosts, Sith not being able to become ghosts was one of the stupidest things TCW did and it did a lot of stupid things especially since Sith ghosts had been prevalent in a lot of major stories it was just a pointlessly stupid contradiction that made no sense
@lukerope19066 жыл бұрын
@@sammywhite5127 Actually a Force ghost, is a Light Side users spirit that has crossed over to the nether world of the Force, or become one with the Force. But has retained their individual consciousness, which allows them to interact with physical material world. As I understand it, there are two realms within the Force, the Cosmic Force and the Living Force. When a Light Side user dies they are translated from the Living Force to the Cosmic Force. But due to the nature of the Dark Side, users of it cannot become Force ghosts. Either because they do not become apart of the Cosmic Force, or because the living Force does not allow them to return. So a Dark Side specter, would be more like a traditional ghost so to speak, in that they haunt an item or location. Their spirit would not be apart of the Living Force nor the Cosmic Force, so not truly living nor one with the Force.
