I’m studying early golovkin fights and he does this very often. He will duck in with a high guard to get a reaction from you every time.

The Larry Holmes, Muhammed Ali, “Terrible” Tim Witherspoon and Tommy Hearns up jab was extremely effective. Under rated for sure. I like the high guard as a counter for the up jab. Thanks! 👍

It's not even that complicated actually and it drives me nuts when my fighters are staying at the guys jabbing range instead of just walking thru and throwing the overhand right. The reason it worked for guys like hearns and Holmes etc is because Tommy had a inhuman reach for his weight and had beyond good skills and Holmes and Ali ran way constantly after throwing the jab but I've never seen a fighter in my day or my current fighters day that you cant just walk thru the up jab . You should never beat that far of a distance anyway once the bell rings lol were supposed to be fighters not track stars

isnt trapping it for a counter be more discouraging or is that just too difficult of a timing to do consistently nd safely.

technically trapping would be frowned on by most referees i think .i could be wrong though

@tonyamartin1425 Golovkin had Alvarez beat like a redheaded stepchild in the first fight at 36 year old. Prime for prime He will KO all your favorite Hall of Fame fighters in a row. Hagler was not competitive at 36 (retired) and would have had his brain rearranged if he continued fighting : He'll have to face McCallum, Michael Nunn, Kalambay and Errol Graham in title defenses. If he keeps fighting at 36 you can add Steve Collins and Michael Watson as contenders. He actually had the chance of having a Julio Cesar Chavez level resume. But I guess he did not "dare to be great" against guys his own size or bigger.
