Oskar Robin is getting so big! I saw him looking at the cattle and imagined him yelling MOOOO at them. He looks so much like you, Jenny. It was so sweet to see Rupert feeding wild strawberries to Oskar. My great aunt Bertha taught me to sew on her mother's treadle singer. It gives my heart a lovely hug to hear this machine named for my very favorite relative. My Bertha taught me so much and was such a support while I was growing up. She lived well into her 90s, so I had her for a long time. May her spirit look upon your Bertha and assist as needed, as my aunt always did. I am a night owl and was surprised to see The Moons post at my 3 am, but then I realized it's your 8 or 9 am. I really need to move to Europe. Blessed be, Magical Moons!

Seeing the repair work on the elephant was very magical. I am excited to see Bertha come to life with her own table. Thinking of the table, there are mechanics sold to lower the machine, and you can make a panel to cover the hole with a panel. The mechanism is sold to put in a kitchen for a large mixer when not in use. Having a full table tops is prime real-estate. Thank you for bringing Majic to my home.

Thank you for sharing your day with us, dear Moons. The fastening of the shutters before the storm gave me such a real sense of buttoned up protection and security that the shutters provide. Seeing the tender care you take of the Legends, your other animal friends, your family and each other inspires us to be more observant of the needs around us and mindful of the help and good we can bring to life situations in our daily rounds. Rupert and Oskar had the wild strawberries scoped out along the lane and their delight in picking, sharing and enjoying the fresh berries was a joy. The artful arrangement of projects in the antique repair workshop always draws me in with curiosity and wonder. Love the way that you each shared the intricacies of your complementary work in restoring these precious treasures. The patience and precision required in each aspect of the repairs is mind-boggling and it is fascinating to hear you explain how important a role restraint plays in the sensitive process of refurbishing these priceless heirlooms. Rejoicing that Bertha has responded so positively to the thorough disassembly and cleaning and oiling you gave her, Nick! What a fine cooperative team you and Jenny are! Each of your sons is learning practical work and people skills alongside their loving parents, as well. In terms of the work table for Bertha... I saw a large creative workspace made from a repurposed oversized flat surfaced solid wood door. You may need your "table" supports to be different useful items, dimensions or spacings, but this maker used two 2-drawer file cabinets as the supports for their work surface. Hugs and blessings

Rupert feeding his baby brother, Oskar Robin, wild strawberries is so very touching!! Nick, your ingenuity knows no bounds!! The look of satisfaction on your face, Jennie, is angelic!! Big Bertha, love the name, Jennie!! 😂 Nick, your mechanical abilities know no bounds!! The fact that this sewing machine has survived well over a century (128 years) is a testament to how well-made devices were in the past. Built-in obsolescence was not the order of the day, as greed and profit have now become synonymous with contemporary manufacturing. Toby has certainly grown since the earlier episodes!! He has always been so comfortable with the equines, and they with him. Charlotte and Grace look so happy and gleamingly beautiful!! Now everyone can see how The Moon Family has brought them back. I see an important theme with the Magical Moons- there is value in things and animals as we age. Just because you are old, does not mean you are disposable. Thank you Moons.
@kkay22705 ай бұрын
You live in such a magical rural setting. I was also fortunate to have grown up in a rural setting (starting at the age of 5). We did not have the water feature that the Moons have, but we had 20 acres to call our own. During the summer, Mom would have to call us to come inside at night because we would be playing until dark. My 5 brothers and I had chores to do, along with other responsibilities, but it still left plenty of time to be kids. In the winter, we had a hill for sledding and almost every Sunday, we made homemade ice cream. We used a hand cranked wooden device. With Dad’s help, we used snow and rock salt around the inner metal vessel that held the cream mixture. My Mom would make homemade hot cocoa to help warm us up when we finally came inside the house. Such wonderful memories of that place we called home.

Awesome.! Got to love those old Singers.. I've restored about a dozen of them now. Going to pick up another one this weekend.. They really are easy to work on, and tear down piece by piece to really clean/restore, hand wheel needle bar, presser bar spring, etc. etc.. It's kind of an addiction, I love working on them. I have 14 sewing machines now, 12 antique Singers of various models. Nice to see the restoration of the woolly mammoth/elephant.. awesome job.! Restoring things is just so rewarding.

What a wonderful hobby! I used to repair and redress old dolls -- composition mostly. before computers I was known to take a grocery bag full of dolls to the local library. Spent many an afternoon researching dolls and their original clothing. Then would photo copy the information I found (because the books were so expensive) and then hunting for the similar fabrics. What fun! You've energized me again, Jen. Thank you, Moons.
