But there are two easy ways to avoid it. 1) create virtual card, pay with it and then cancel card (after payment goes through). 2) Pay with Paypal then go to paypal automatic payment list and cancel it there. After that they cant bill you with autorenewal. Btw on Paypal almost every payment get on automatic payment list which means if there is another "subscription" payment it goes through. Maybe good idea to review list time from time and remove/deactivate sites you dont use regularly.

By the time they replied, the auto-renewal has already kicked in. I was so pissed I deleted my Kaspersky account. I'm betting this has to do with politics seeping into their business. For those who are still using Kaspersky and are subscribed to their auto renewal policy, check if you can cancel your subscription. It's stated in their FAQ that it's in your Kaspersky license settings, account settings, I kinda forgot because it was already a long time. But when I checked where the cancel button or link was supposed to be, I couldn't find any. After watching this vid, I'm kinda leaning into the idea that Kaspersky has become predatory ever since their illegal invasion of Ukraine.

Tip You can buy licenses for various programs at retail outlets often cheaper than the online or renewal version. As a personal rule putting my credit card details in the hands of others is to be avoided like the plague. This is because I subscribed to a news service for one month as a trial thinking that I’d only get access for a month, but every month they debited my card and I spent an entire day getting my bank to block it as fraud as there was no way to cancel the subscription. The links to cancel all went to a broken page and no email was answered and the only phone number was a pay number where you were billed ten dollars a minute.

Not a rip-off when it comes to price. 6.) Ease of use and Management. Meaning it doesn't become stupid when I go about my business and if there is a concern it shows a notification and does not just prevent functionality without notification - the most useless task in trouble shooting is wasting time figuring out your virus software is the problem. 7.) Minimal Use of computer resources. 8.) Is not an ad generating POC. So yeah - I use Kaspersky Total Security. For $180 ish I get two years worth of license on up to 5 computers. There's far too much of this with many things, it's common for people to get caught out with a monthly renewal with many services offering free trials, even this should be made very clear in my opinion, not just in the small print, but trying to trick people into paying an overpriced annual renewal with the details deliberately hidden away definitely should be stopped.

Honestly I haven't had any issues with it so far. I've had it for a few weeks and I got the pro version (at their most aggressive discount) at the start because it had the features I was looking for and from the other videos I watched it seemd to scan malware very accurately, I myself haven't had any threats pop up but I also run alot of anti-trackers and script blockers so my defense is pretty solid as it stands without it.

Why waste money on AV? The whole industry is a scam, not just TotalAV...

I feel sorry for you. You have been conned by a piece of Malicious Software (Malware) claiming to protect you. Windows Defender is as good as most and better than many, actually works, and is 100% free. The problem with Malware like TotalAV (and the many, many others like it), is that any and all of the problems that it might have said that your PC had, was a lie to sell you their snake oil. I used to fix peoples PC's / Laptops for a living and have seen MANY pieces of software like this over the years, they always act in the same way, and can often be a nightmare to remove, and some are literally impossible as they destroy Windows on the way out, in the meantime, what are they doing.? Some steal your data, some do literally nothing, including not detecting or removing any viruses, leaving your system wide open, and anywhere in-between. I strongly suggest that you back up all of your Data, download a free anti-Malware program, install it, update it and see what it says. MalwareBytes used to be great, I am no longer in the business so do not keep up to date, do some research, make sure it is legit and get to work. If "TotalAV" detects MalwareBytes (for example) as being Malware itself, that should be enough to persuade you that you made a mistake. Also make sure you contact the bank/card you bought it with and tell them to block giving them another penny in the future. Good Luck.

I have serious doubts that it will actually protect better than windows defender. In my experience when they push that hard to get you to pay for it, usually it means that it is only barely better than intentionally downloading a virus.

it looks very like the scamtastic and deeply annoying Iobit software, it maybe just a clone company or the same company re-branded

I use for many years Bitdefender Ultimate Security, and their password manager, works very well and is lightweight. On my systems, which still includes core2quad CPUs, i7, AMD Ryzen 7 5800X. And 2 Linux machines. It's also integrated in my NAS. I'm satisfied with Bitdefender, i can use it on 10 machines, included 2 iOS devices.

Thank you for your professional opinions. What about Trend Micro? Is it reliable? for both desktop and android mobile?

btw bit defender was really letting me down with their attitude and i had to switch antivirus. They are very aggressively promoting their VPN software, even if you uninstall it, it magically re appears after some time. I let them know and they said it was some kind of bug that for many years they cannot fix. Well, how do you call a program that installs software without your permission with a goal to make money from you?? It's very unethical what they are doing and i consider their software as malware.

Norton AV is becoming a pain in the neck too. I'm trying to move to another AV, and I don't know if I should use Windows Defender only. Any recommendations to replace Norton AV? Thanks for this video. 🤔

I installed it (paid my subscription), and almost imediately noticed a total slowdown of my PC. Excel and Outlook took so long to load I would give up and either walk away and come back in 10 minutes (yes you heard right... 10 minutes for Excel and Outlook to load). The other annoying thing was constant ads wanting you to upgrade and throw more money their way even though I just spent and arm and a leg on their yearly sub. As soon as I completely removed TotalBS, errh I mean TotalAV, Excel and Outlook would load up instantly!!!!

This is the main reason I am an user of ESET Internet Security for years, reliable, relatively lightweight, trustworthy and it catches malware way before they can get to your computer, and the fact that I got a license for 3 computers but with the price of just 1 computer license cause of an official ESET deal in my country (Hungary) on new year's eve, it was worthy, and also extending the end time of this license just only costs the same as for 1 computer yearly, so yeah it was worthy, I can protect my own laptop, my sister's laptop and my brother's laptop for the price of 1 device license.

LAst week they found that AVG / Avast are doing strange things: selling your browser data to Google and others etc. They did that for years, and maybe still are....

There's a feature on Total AV where it checks if your email address has been compromised on the deep web. And it said mine has, but could this be a scam to get you to buy additional software I wonder. How do I know if my email address really has been compromised. Has this happened to anyone else out there currently using Total AV?
