why don't you just use a smart plug + apple automation timer to shut off the machine automatically just before it starts the cure cycle? wouldn't this create your very own 'wash only' cycle?

@@plantyoga3910 If you have to go out of pocket and invent a new DIY approach to get a brand new peice of expensive, purpose-built tech to do the thing it was purpose-built to do... Theres a big problem. If that is ever the case, then the manufacturer faled at its one and only job and then lied about it to the consumer to take their money. The answer to that kind of shady business practice should never ever be: "The customer needs to go spend more money if they want the device they baught to do the things they were promised it would do when they bought it".

Sorry you guys went trough this, but there's a trick to shut it off, apparently if it runs out of water it throws an error, so you can maybe remove the hose so the machine stops? I'm leaning towards making my own setup for cleaning and getting myself the UV station alone.
@03chrisv

I mean there are technically 3 filters in this machine. There are two removable mesh filters at the bottom of the machine near the front side. There's also a third mesh filter attached to the siphon for the alcohol container. There's even a spare that comes with the machine. It's not meant to filter out uncured liquid resin, but any little cured or semi cured bits that come off during the washing process won't make it back into the alcohol container, and if by chance it does it certainly won't make it to the nozzles as theres a third filter. Lastly, you're supposed to flush out the machine by running water through the whole system every once in a while (like every 20 to 30 wash cycles). As long as you clean out the filters and flush the machine every so often it should last several years. As another poster mentioned, if you do a quick pre-wash dip before hand than the alcohol should stay cleaner much longer.

Well I print almost around the clock across multiple machines and I got sick of using the elegoo mercury and messing around with IPA so I i purchased the anycubic washer cure max and so far it's been absolutely BRILLIANT! First off you almost always add a full 5L off IPA to any wash station then drain it back into the bottle and I've NEVER in 6 years filterd my IPA. (The resin will slowly settle on the bottom of the containers and because they have HUGE openings you can simply remove the settled resin like a thick carpet) Second there is a small basket filter at the bottom of the machine that does capture any small bits of resin or broken supports. Around 4 times a day maybe more I would wash my build plates and vats at the sink with soap and water and the water went down the drain what else you going to do with it, collect it and refine it hell I'd need a 2000 gallon tank outside! Thirdly if you just want to wash your prints and not cure them you just wait 60s while the water drains out on the last wash stage then press the big button marked RESET and the machine STOPS it's cycle before curing the prints!! Maybe try putting it together next time and actually testing the machine properly for yourself.. 😊

Here’s a sneak peak at my long term review. I’ve been using it for 3 months now and it’s worse than I thought. First it can’t wash any viscous tough resins in one cycle, and it can’t clean hollow prints so it’s worthless for most of what I do. The IPA tank pulls from the bottom so after about couple dozen cycles the machine can’t pull IPA anymore due to the sediment in the tank. After just 2 cycles the mesh screens got clogged with cured resin so the tank wouldn’t drain anymore until I chipped the screen clean with a sewing needle. The motor isn’t powerful enough to spin the basket if you load it up with more than about 300g in prints. Last weekend I just discovered 2 of the 4 ball bearings on the bottom of the basket are fused in place with cured resin so they don’t spin at all. Standing and watching a machine so I can hit reset at the exact right time isn’t feasible for supposedly fully automated solution. And when you use the cure only cycle the drain pump still activates at the end of the cycle attempting to drain an already empty tank. Running the pump dry like that will quickly kill it. And finally after just 3 months 2 or 3 of the jets are just dribbling fluid, so I’ll have to tear the entire machine down to fix that.

@@ElevatedSystems The basket turns fine once you do what anycubic recommended to me and that's remove the ball barings, I popped them out and the basket turns absolutely fine! I've washed prints that weigh over 500g like the life size gremlin torso I just washed and cured.. If you had pressed rest before the cure stage you would never gotten resin cured to the basket filter I print a hell of a lot because I print for companies and I've had no problems in 4 months.. The jets got blocked because you allowed the resin build up in that tank the first time I turned it on I thought hmm it draws from the bottom I better shorten the pipe, it took 4min to shorten by about 1cm stopping it drawing up particles and them getting stuck in the holes or jets.. Every wash station I have ever had I had to stop mid wash and turn my prints upside down to completely wash them inside and I just do the same with this one, you can also disable the magnet lid pretty easy so you can open it when you pause the wash cycle not stay locked! I suppose it's as much about personal preference and individual experiences because I've clearly not had the problem you have had and any modification I made were minor and took minutes.. I'd definitely recommend shorting to pip so it doesn't draw from the bottom or getting an extra tank for the IPA so you can alternate, once you have cleaned the jets you shouldn't have anymore the problems! 🤞

I own this wash and cure machine, I bought it for $289 during its pre-order special and used a $10 off coupon. It's pretty good for that price but not for the MSRP of $389, that's a bit too steep for something that isn't near perfect. A stand alone wash only mode is definitely something I would have wanted to see and is probably it's one major flaw since most people tend to wash their prints before removing the supports. With this machine you have to remove the supports before you put your prints in it, otherwise you're going to cure your prints with the supports still attached. What I do is I have a separate 2 gallon bucket filled with IPA and I do a few quick dips of the build plate into it with the models still attached. In about 10 seconds 80% to 90% of the uncured resin has washed off. Now removing the suppprts from the models is an easy and less messy affair. After that I put the models into the machine and let the cycle run. The models come out perfectly clean and cured. Doing the quick 10 second dip into the IPA bucket has the added benefit of making the IPA in the wash and cure machine stay cleaner for much longer and will probably extend the life of the pumps and nozzles. So even if the machine had a standalone wash mode, I would probably still do the pre-wash IPA dip as the benefits outweighs the minor inconvenience of an extra step in the cleaning process.

@agentcee688
@agentcee688 Жыл бұрын
@ElevatedSystems Yeah it's not a perfect machine, I was definitely disappointed at first when I found out that there wasn't a standalone wash mode. However the IPA pre-wash dip method mostly makes up for it, and in hindsight understanding how the machine works I would do the pre-wash dip anyway even if it had a standalone wash mode in order to keep the machine's IPA and internal parts cleaner and lasting longer. I would still like to see a standalone wash mode as I like to have full control of the cleaning/curing process but my method makes it at least usable. I consider it an idiosyncrasy of the machine. It's such a beautiful looking machine, just sucks that it wasn't fully thought out. I originally just wanted to throw the build plate into the machine with prints still attached, but Anycubic had other plans lol. I'm glad I only paid $289 for it, I can't imagine paying full price.

Couldn't you just use a smart plug + apple automation timer to shut off the machine automatically just before it starts the cure cycle? wouldn't this create your very own 'wash only' cycle? You'd have to push the start buttons simultaneously (machine + apple automation) but thats easy. Anyway, that is my plan with this thing.

@@plantyoga3910 they can just hit rest after the final wash cycle or disable the magnets that seal the lid closed so that you can pause and then remove the prints.. I've always removed my supports before I wash the prints so automatically curing isn't a problem for me and I think it's a good machine especially at just £260 in the summer sales..

I’m also stuck with one. But I’m not too upset. I’ve already added a switch to turn off the UV lights. So I have a 15min wash cycle. Then I can flip the switch and just cure. Really simple. I’ve been working on multiple ways to recycle the fluids. You can have the waste water go back into the water thank. But there is a flush it does at the end and beginning that adds a bit more to the waste. So I was filing the water side up to about 3.5L and that gets you through about for washes. I now have it ready to toss out the original containers and use my old tubs of first and second stage cleaning of large panels. Which by the way is what this machine is good for, not miniatures. So the pumps are pretty strong. I’ve got them taped down for now testing. But Simply my old 30L tub of IPA is now cleaned up and ready for the Max’s first stage. They were nice enough to provide two hoses so one goes to one side of the tub to dump old IPA. I have a filter in the middle and the second hose goes to the other side. Its not perfect. But so far with a UV light on the dirty side my cheap filter is doing a great job. Now I have a second 40L tub that does the same thing for what is the water side. It’ll be IPA once I confirm the hoses can handle IPA. This isn’t much different than my orignal setup. Just a bit clearner and less fumes as the whole system will be mostly sealed. You can’t fully seal it for obvious reasons. I just need to get in a new hose for the “water” side and some hose clips (what are they called? Then ones that bite) anyway waiting on those. It looks like I can easily replace the pumps. There is a few pumps tested already that can work for filtering IPA. My system isn’t as great as some peoples. But it works and its what I have. I’ve got about 40kg going through this thing so far and its much cleaner than my old swirl ones. which none were big enough for large panels so I had the huge tubs for that. I’d like to see what you all can do with this basic idea. I’m very hopeful. I don’t mind a little DIY and fixing things. So far I think this will last a long while.

Hello I find your aproach very interesting just for the wash only cycle I found the way of puting a valve on the arrival of the water so you close it when you wanna wash it stops the auto with the error E11 process you take out your prints you break the sups and you put it back and you start the rest of the cycle by reopening the valve and "unpausing" the cycle. I would like to talk to you in private if you want :)

I've used it multiple times now. It's horrible. The auto cycle can't fully wash viscous "tough" resins leaving a wet sticky film on all the parts. It can't wash the inside of hollow prints. Between the big deep basket and the single LED strip on just one side you have to reposition parts and run the cure cycle multiple times. Finally the risiduals from the tough resin I was using hardened in the little drain hole mesh screen making it useless. So basically it's a wash and cure that can't wash and is bad at curing.

The previous design actually works well. The only thing I'd probably ask for is different size build plate holders so that you can hang build plate of different sizes during the wash. The only innovation that would be appreciated is some sort of machine that can recycle the used IPA. That would save a lot of messy hassle of reclaiming used IPA (i.e. exposing it to UV, letting the sediment set, and then filtering out the cured debris).

A shame, the Framework videos overshadows such good content. Now, I love the Framework content you've put out, don't get me wrong, but I also really love basically everything else you've been putting out on this platform. I hope that KZbin's algorithm will adapt and push your videos to new viewers, and not just the ones that are in for the Framework content. Keep up the great work. And as to the video itself, the lack of such features (and that it cannot even be updated via software) for that amount of price is simply inexcusable from a company that simply sells better products already.

Fully agree with your review, unfortunatly we missed to send it back direct. Definitely by far the poorest product we ever purchased from anycubic. 1. It cleans with IPA, then with water, then it UV cures. One after the other. You can not change or interrupt this routine. The parts are not dry, when the curing starts. Curing water-wet parts leads to cracks and deformation. 2. The used water (5L) is conterminated with rest of resin/IPA. You will have 5L after every routine, which you dispose... where? 3. The turntable turns roughly and is strongly stuttering. Items drop and change their position in the basket. 4. The turntable does not turn at all, when you put items above 300g in it. 5. You will not realize, that the turntable is not turning while cleaning, as you can not look into the washer - it´s dark until the curing process starts. You leave your part aline, and it only cures from one side - and you will not even notice. Again, this will lead to broken and deformed prints. We indicated all these defects and failures three month after we purchased the washer. We even proposed to exchange it against the much cheaper wash&cure 3 plus, but ANYCUBIC refuses to help in any way.

I just bought it. Your video didn't deter me. Why? I'm using an older cure wash machine. I wanted something large, and something that would help handle the accumulation of waste. For my use case, i'm printing mostly minis. Not many thing are hollowed out. My alternative was to buy the phrozen combo which is like $100 more. IDK hope i didnt get scamme,d here's some free engagement lol. Also, I do my prints a little differently. Than you do. Maybe? 1.) let the bp hang on the printer and drip back into the vat after a print. 2.) take off bp and angle it onto a paper towel, and let the resin flow off. 3.) do a water wash using warm water, for like 2mins 4.) remove supports carefully. 5.) remove supports and inspect for failures (if it failed toss it, why even bother curing) 6.) now this is where i put it into the big mega machine lol. My old method was doing a 3 step bath process in IPA and water. I would also manually dry everything before UV curing. Like put it in front of a fan and absorb as much moisture off the model. If It still seems "wet" it means it wasn't washed enough so I wash it one more time in IPA.

You just have to make your brain work for 2 seconds, and the solution is found... You just have to replace the water with isopropyl alcohol and make a hole in the cap of the second tank so that the system runs in a loop. And if you don't want the machine to cure while washing, just press cancel at 4.31min. it will empty the tank and it will be ready to operate again. I've been using it for 3 months and it works perfectly every day ;-)

There's one more BIG issue you've missed in the video and no one else seems to be mentioning in the comments: You cannot run the 'Cure Only' cycle without the machine turning on the water drainage pump at the end of the cycle! Since the 'Cure Only' cycle doesn't pump liquid into the machine, you are running the pump while DRY every time you use it! Running a pump while dry is very commonly known as the fastest way to burn out a pump! Between the machine forcing unfiltered and dirty IPA through its nozzles (the machine pumps from the very bottom of the IPA reservoir, ensuring it takes the settled particulates with it), and the 'Cure Only' cycle forcing the drainage pump to run while dry, there is - very literally - no way to actually use the machines intended and limited functions without causing damage to it. I'm beginning to believe this machine was actually engineered to destroy itself as quickly as possible through its own intended use.

lol It's actually vwa-la. It's just my stupid running joke of giving all foreign words a very American pronunciation.

This the type of video that really gives KZbinrs a bad name. It’s your opinion though, so at least there’s that

I’ve been using it for a year, because Anycubic wanted me to pay $90 to return it. It’s the absolute worst piece of maker tech I’ve ever purchased, and it just died this week. (Pump failed)

@@ElevatedSystems I’m sure they offer warranty service, but I can understand being bitter about not being able to return something you don’t want

wish i had seen your video before i ordered this piece of cr**. trying to send it back as well. totally useless, not working with hollowed prints, the curing function is a joke with ONE small light source coming only from ONE corner. running my print farm mostly on anycubic printers and they work great, but this thing is a total mess.

Maybe tone down the 3d printing content? It’s totally your choice i just don’t see them do too well

@@ElevatedSystems Still worth doing the videos. As you get bigger and bigger all the videos will do well. I dont even have a 3d printer and I watched this. It was well made and easy to follow.
