A little-known ancient region in Yemen is the birthplace of ancestors of Singapore’s Arab community, who came with the British in the early 19th century to help build Singapore as a thriving port. The Arabs made their mark here as traders and landowners, accounting for the many roads and buildings named after them.

i don't agree with that uncle. i lost my malay language since i was a baby, cause i never stay in malay environment and i don't have malay friend. but i never lost my malay soul, because i know malay history well and i love malay cultures. like zapin, bangsawan, ghazal, pantun, songket, kebaya labuh, traditional house etc. even, my malay soul grew up when i stay outside malay country
